Background
Early Life
Michaela barely remembers life before Praetoria. She was old enough she should have memories of her life then, but the shining jewel of Praetoria mixed with the lackluster time before made her drown out those memories. She wasn't in Praetoria long before she developed a crush on an older boy, a crush that would flourish into true love in her life ahead.
As she grew up, she became a photographer and videographer for TPN. Her crush, and later boyfriend, joined the PPD. Eventually the two were wed, TPN Media Director and PPD Interrogator. Life was great for the young couple, great jobs, idyllic home, loving son. But soon, this perfect life would shatter.
Homicide
One night, Mikki became irritable when her husband came home late. He was stressed and her latent psychic ability was awoken by the mental anguish of what he had witnessed. Picking up the anger, doubt, and confusion in her husband's mind, she lashed out at him. This didn't help his mental state any, causing the two to start arguing. Their son, Ricky, came in to see what was wrong, never having witnessed an argument so severe between his parents. He arrived just in time to see his mother strike his father with a psychic burst accompanied by directed neuro-electric blast. He didn't survive.
Seer
The Seers of course picked up on this burst of psychic energy and soon the house was filled with Seers and PPD officers. Ricky was taken away, the boy too young to really understand what had happened, though the scene would haunt him for quite some time. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the boy was taken in by Chet's parents until suitable adoptive parents could be found and Mikki was given the same choice given to all psychics: the sacrifice of becoming a Seer herself or banishment to the Mother of Mercy Psychiatric Hospital. She chose the former.
Disconnected
Her time as a seer was a fruitful one, for Praetoria anyway. After a while, though, something began distracting her. She kept seeing Chet. This pulled her away from the Network, driving her to the brink of insanity. Her implants were destroyed internally by her neuro-electrical manipulation, though they remain in her head still. Now a rogue psychic, she was courted by the Syndicate. She had one stipulation: She wanted her son back.
Lament of Lost Lambs
Though the Syndicate was able to get Ricky for her, the boy barely knew her. Added to the fact that he had seen her kill his father those years ago, the eight-year-old boy wanted nothing to do with her. This upset Mikki and, like her husband, the boy was soon the target of an uncontrolled psychic attack. Though he survived, he was severely hurt by the psychic attack and was taken to the hospital. Believing the boy to have been taken back to his adoptive parents, Mikki tracked them down to their home. Unable to produce Ricky for his mother, the two were struck by Mikki's psychic might. Mikki's already unstable psyche was unable to handle this stress. Her psyche broke down, becoming almost childlike in her disposition. She seeks out children now, to help protect them from the horrors of the world. Unfortunately, this usually means putting them to "sleep" so they can "rest" their weary heads.
