Character
Leander Callum's personnel reports throughout his time in the Police Service have had a common thread running through them: "Callum is professional and sensible when conducting his duties, yet has clearly issues controlling his frustrations."
Leander's stern manner and his history as a patrolman in post-Meta Detroit City[1], Leander has developed both a strong respect for the rule of law, and a rising, roiling anger at those who are charged with enforcing it and failing in doing so.
Unfortunately, the drug itself is heavily behavioural-influencing, and while, after partaking, Leander is able to diminish his intense form of super-sensitivity to detail, the actual dose itself is best compared to a cocaine high, during which time he's unuseful as a police officer. He therefore only takes the drug when he's off duty and able to sleep off the effects. While enjoying the aftermath of the drug, however, Leander is very much a workaholic, desiring things to keep his mind active as long as he is able.
Leander is addicted, but not to the drug itself, but rather to the detective he can be when he's using it.Powers
Leander is a 99th percentile human; that is to say, his DNA is mostly identical to other humans, and features no metahuman mutations that are most in common with mutant-origin heroes.
Thanks to a minor birth defect, Leander suffers from a form of autism that diminishes his ability to 'filter' the details in the world around him. Thanks to years of discipline, rather than being helpless and thrown around by a thousand details he can't manage, Leander has managed a number of mneomic tricks. In practice, he has a somewhat Sherlock-Holmes-like sense of observation; a thousand details leap to his attention and affirm his sense of the world around him.
Leander is, however, despite his very competent level of physical ability and acuity in the mind and the eye, not able to threaten meta threats without help. For this reason he packs a force taser, a glowing white concussive device that he can use to throw enemies away from himself, and a pair of 'Showstopper' style Meta-Threat Responder firearms.

RP Notes
- Lionized is meant to have an almost preternatural sense of observation. He's capable of picking up even the most minor of details about your character with just a few glances, as per his inspiration.
- Lionized is also prone to being very relaxed around what he sees as more 'practiced' criminals. When you spend your time hunting down meth-cooking drug barons, you grow to be ambivalent towards blue-collar crime, for example.
- Lionized's backstory in Detroit is, as far as I understand, more or less completely untouched by the game lore itself. Therefore, if I mention an event, chances are I'm pulling it out of the air.
- Lionized wears a t-shirt in his casual gear that's an 'Angry Eagles' design, which is an in-universe pro-law, anti-gang citizen group, inspired by tales of the real life Guardian Angels.
Themes
Lionized's origin point stemmed from the relization that when I created The Rose Paladin, he was by and large too extreme a lawful man. Josiah was never going to have those moments of doubt, the periods where people would doubt his character, because by his cleaving so firmly to the principles in which he believed, he was simply not something with which most people could interact. This difficulty started me to consider a more moderate Josiah - a more reasonable man who could fulfill the role of the 'good cop' in a narrative. Able to walk into a dive bar without the same Benton-Fraser style reaction.
This left me with a character like Josiah, who I needed somehow to keep on the chaotic side of lawful. Someone who could be more reasonable in their day-to-day dealings with individuals; Josiah would never be rude or mean to those who disagreed with him, but he would lose a large body of social options.
So Lionized, after being tempered by old Sherlock Holmes stories, an interest revitalised by the Robert Downey Jr movie, was shaped to represent a central theme of Moderation. This theme helped shape his subsequent characterisation.
Trivia
- Lionized was the name I had for this same character in Closed Beta. Therefore, there's a model of him with several million inf and nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine merits on the test server.
- Lionized's name is spelled in the American spelling, and done so with a deliberate attempt to ground the character completely in American culture. Hence his red-white-and-blue, urban city patriotism.
