Appearance & Personality

Jonny stands at around 6'1 with slightly pale skin and a boyish youth about him. His skin is fairly free of scars other than the usual nicks and scraps, and often has an energetic glow. His hair is usually fairly unkempt and messy and he has recently developed a line of hair along his jaw, despite looking fairly normal, his hair has fallen out on countless occasions and this usually happens randomly. His body is strong and defined, one positive side effect of his accelerated metabolism and despite eating at least five times as much as a normal male, his body requires a huge amount of energy to keep it's muscle-mass. Aside from his rough attire, Jonny usually sports a t-shirt and jeans type of style, often wearing his leather boots.

Jonny's personality is rather complex. He tries his best to remain in a constant state of control over his emotions, and when relaxing in Pocket D, he gives the impression of a confident young man, willing to socialize with almost anyone. His natural defenses have him flirt and charm his way into friendship with most people, however he suffers from a very rare case of memory loss, which he is currently working hard on to counter balance. Psychics will notice his mind or psyche takes the shape of a huge painting, while completely venerable to their intrusion and attacks, this huge painting has many holes corroding it. Bright green nuclear blotches ruin his psyche and make him harder to understand. At the worst of times, Jonny is socially awkward, and in this case he tends to joke around a lot with people, appearing laid back and nonchalant. But don't be fooled, there's a big green monster constantly building up inside him, waiting to break free and nuke everything in sight!

'Gray' is Jonny's personal embodiment of all the things he wishes he could control. Gray represents Jonnys chaotic emotional states, fears, insecurities, desires and dreams. He is everything Jonny wishes to be. When Gray is present, Jonny is free in the most literal sense. He doesn't adhere to social standards, or common methods of behavior, he acts how he wishes and generously dishes out his poison as he sees fit. It is only when both Jonny and Gray truly come together, do either really feel alive – and this is a terrifying experience, considering he is a nuclear mess at the best of times!

Gray State

Jonny couldn't help it, really. Gray was becoming more and more present. Gray wasn't a bad thing though, it was very dangerous, but not completely bad. Gray didn't like to wear clothes, but he did like to poison stupid fools! So, y'know, two sides to the scale. He could joke as much as he wanted about, there was no denying that when Jonny became Gray, things became easier and harder all at the same time. And this made him feel alive.

Technically speaking, Gray state or becoming Gray is simply the process in which Jonny's personality shuts down. This is a common process for him, as his body is almost always under extreme conditions, as he is not immune to his radiation emissions. An influx in emotion is almost always accompanied by his usual pains, causing his psyche to shut down – as his body can't physically shut down – due to his powers. The process would be like fainting, while having your body cooked under extreme heats, by itself.

When he awakes from this state, Jonny has little to no control over his body, but regardless, he enjoys this feeling – as 'Gray' has now taken over, and usually does everything Jonny wishes he could do. Technically Jonny is in a complex state of hyper-hallucination and is unable to determine what is real, and what is not. In this state his body is numb beyond feeling, and his emotions do not register on his psyche. His body also changes shape, his skin becomes a semi-liquid metallic substance, that 'Gray' can control the density of, allowing 'Gray' to phase through objects by expanding his atomic structure. On most transformations Jonny's hair will also fall out, and his clothes will melt as his body actively discharges high amounts of radiation, energy and toxins. Despite all this, it is not always dangerous for other people to be around him, for example, in this state he can molecularly 'fix' other people around him, causing a 'healing' sensation in others – if Gray chooses to do this.

Gray is much quicker to anger, annoy and irritate than Jonny – and almost always resorts to immediate and uncaring violence. However, he is also much smarter than Jonny, he almost always thinks outside the box, and his IQ seems to soar with knowledge that Jonathan doesn't actually have.

Jonny cannot control this process and therefore accepts no responsibility in your stupid actions which lead to you being vaporized! And go ahead and call him a villain, it'll only fuel the nuclear flames that cause him to stand against the heroes.

History

Welcome to the Isles

At twenty years of age, Jonathan 'Liquid' Gray is learning he is now responsible for his actions in a world of crime and punishment, heroes and villain; black and white. It's not that he wants to destroy everything, it's just, having a good time can be such a drag.

Born onto a random doorstep in Mercy Isles, this bastard child spent his childhood between people and families that thought they could raise a child. Most of them were wrong. From a very early age it was apparent that Jonny was radioactive, who knows why? But he was dangerous and often mistaken as an Infected.

His first set of parents raised him to the age of eight, at which time they mysteriously died of radiation poisoning – which to this day, he has denied any involvement. Moving on, his second parent managed to raise him to the age of eleven, when they mysteriously died of a rare accelerated type of skin cancer. This pattern continued to the age of fourteen, when he was deemed too toxic to be around. So, fourteen years old, booted out of his orphanage and spewing toxic-radiation, Jonny kinda lost the plot, after all it's so easy to get caught up in the mayhem of the Isles.

Toxic Temptation

It seems easy, most people would imagine, to instantly make a break for some kind of safe-haven, but where is a fourteen year old boy suppose to turn in the Isles? And even if he could have found somewhere to learn about his condition, who wants to be around an unpredictable radioactive kid, with a pretty bad attitude?

Alone, homeless and confused, Jonny somehow managed to bring himself up amidst the chaos of the Isles. He made money from stealing tech and scrap, which in turn he gave to Arachnos for protection. He somehow managed to befriend some of the smaller gangs, such as the Skulls and Infected, allowing him to wonder Mercy Island pretty freely for someone in his state.

There was always the temptation to try and join Arachnos. They would pay him and train him, but growing up watching the constant war between Arachnos and everyone else, he couldn't afford to join a war of that scale, especially when he had little to no knowledge of his powers. As he got older, he finally learnt that his emotions had a large role to play on dictating the control and power of his abilities, something he will forever work on refining.

Shortly after his nineteenth birthday, he finally had enough. It was time to get this mess under control, the constant sickness was taking its toll on his body, and the influx of radiation was hurting and corrupting people around him. So, as any streetwise thug would do, he turned to the Infected. They were to be his cure, and he would live happily-ever-after, after moving to Paragon City and becoming a hero promotion agent or something easy and annoying, like that.

He was denied his cure as the Longbow made a surprise visit to the Infected camp, arresting the majority of people there, and destroying most traces of the cure. This was the straw that broke the camels back, literally. A Longbow officer broke Jonny's back when trying to arrest him. Oh snap!

Everything You Want

After his first near death experience with the Longbow officer, Jonny woke up a few days later in the same spot, hungry and in pain. He accidentally killed the Longbow patrol... He made an oath to himself, that he would become everything anyone ever wanted of him. A problem, a thug, a plague.

After spending weeks researching his abilities at the Cap Au Diable University, he finally hit the streets to give the Isles what they wanted, so badly. Chaos. After all, was Recluses control over the Isles REALLY all he had hoped it would be?

He stopped paying Arachnos their tax.

He stopped hiding in Mercy Island.

He stopped wanting to be normal.

Powers

Mutants aren't uncommon, it seems every other person has a list as long Nerva on powers they have. Jonny might not have as many, but he's pretty confident that when applied correctly, he is the best thing since sliced bread. Fact.

Water Blast/Toxic Water

His ability to create water/toxic blasts is presumed to be a side effect of the amount of radiation he can create, and therefore is nothing more than a channel to discharge his radiation in the form of a 'blast'. Expensive research has deemed this ability as, 'being able to create watery methods of attacking someone, while changing the water into a form of toxic-waste, through radiation emissions, internally and externally'. It is not yet clear how he is able to do this, and at this current moment in time, all that concerns him is the fact that he can in fact do this, therefore he is happy with this aspect of his powers.

Radiation Emission/Manipulation

This is usually where things get ugly, or mutated, or die. It is unclear how he can emit and manipulate subatomic particles, it's even more unclear how he can make them radioactively-toxic. It's all one big deadly mystery. He has little knowledge of just how powerful this ability is, but he is learning and people seem to fear it. He can seemingly 'heal' himself and others with certain types of radiation, on the other hand he can weaken, cripple and poison things, so it requires a lot of discipline and balance. HAHA! Disciplined? Balanced? Yeah right! Cast that radiation and hope for the best, more like!

Strengths

-He can attack people from far away!

-He can make people sick, ill, poison them or kill them!

-He can heal people, either through controlled radioactive emissions or by accelerating their metabolism.

-He can read and write!

-Works well alone and with others, and can sometimes make lots of money from exploiting his powers. (For example, generating heat based electricity for money.)

-He can fly!

-He can run and jump REALLY fast, and has brilliant reflexes!

-Although not exactly a genius, his accelerated metabolism allows him to think quickly, keeping him a few steps ahead of most normal people.

-He is in peak physical health, he cannot gain weight, and his body is almost self-sustaining. (For now, see weaknesses)

-He is quite charming and flirty, he finds he can make friends quite easily, and will often adept quickly depending on the person he is talking to.

-He can kill most things quite easily! If it doesn't drop, apply more grays and make it crumble into dust!

Weaknesses

-He kinda sucks at hand-to-hand combat!

-He sometimes makes himself ill by accident!

-He can't become too emotionally attached to people, for fear of losing control of his abilities and accidentally killing them!

-He can't speak any other cool languages!

-He often makes himself out to be way better than he is: ego! (For example, telling people he can turn metal into gold.)

-He eats about five times as much as a normal person, so he usually doesn't have much money!

-He can be abrasive and rude, usually by accident meaning he has to use his ability to run, jump and fly far more than a normal person!

-His accelerated metabolism will probably cause him to die young

-He is a sucker for love and sexy people, but he can't allow himself to become emotionally attached to anyone or engage in any kind of activity that might cause a flux in his emotions, as this could kill them, and possibly him!

-There are too many side effects from his radiation emission/manipulation to count, but he seems to be pretty safe in Pocket D!

-He does not mix well with fire! Atomic bomb much?

Bio/Summary

Born into the shadows of injustice, Jonathan spent most of his childhood watching the chaos of the Etoile Islands - alone.

He was also alone when he first learnt of his ability to 'corrupt' things.

As a young adult, the Isles hold little promise for a 'decent' life, it was this idea that drew him to the Infected cure. Perhaps he didn't have to considered a villain. Perhaps he didn't have to corrupt everything.

He didn't get that chance. The heroes stopped him. Longbow tried to arrest him, they didn't care about his situation, or his plan. So he became everything they wanted him to. A bad kid, a rebel and a plauge. 'Liquid Gray' now spends his young adulthood fighting in the Isles, causing problems wherever he can. His main targets are Arachnos and Longbow. He happily stands by heroes and villains and will assist in their plans and causes, if he deems them worthy. He's a chaotic, abrasive rebel. Just another bad kid who's not afraid to kill for his beliefs!

When I look back on my life, it’s not that I don’t want to see things exactly as they happened, it’s just that I prefer to remember them in an artistic way. And truthfully, the lie of it all is much more honest because I invented it. Clinical psychology tells us arguably that trauma is the ultimate killer. Memories are not recycled like atoms and particles in quantum psychics, they can be lost forever. It’s sort of like my past is an unfinished painting and as the artist of that painting, I must fill in all the ugly holes and make it beautiful again. It’s not that I’ve been dishonest, it’s just that I loathe reality
