About The Band

Name:

Crimson Fantasy

Members:

Lola Goth - lead vocals

Zak Blak - guitar

Jenny Syde - bass & bgv

Synn Thetik - keys

Johnny Coffin - drums

Crimson Fantasy originally started out as a 3 piece, with Zak, Jenny, and Johnny. Jenny was originally going to try and sing, but couldn't keep up, so they had auditions. Lola answered, and was brought on board. Their original sound was very dark ambient metal sounding. Their self-titled debut CD took both the goth and metal scenes by storm, blending dark ambient sounds and almost operatic vocals with black metal riffs and brutal screaming. They played a lot in the Chicago area, and started touring around the NE region. In New York, they were heard by a rep from Graveyard Records, and ended up signing with them. They opened up for several big names, including The Cruxshadows, VNV Nation, and Angelspit.

Their unique sound brought them to underground stardom quire rapidly, and had people clamoring for another album. They picked up keyboardist Synn Thetik, who added some heavy industrial and techno sounds to the group. Their sophomore album "Synthetic Pathetic" still kept the dark metal roots, but also implemented a strong synth element. Dark industrial sounds and a heavy techno beat made it a favorite of underground goth dance clubs, and even some techno raves. They continued playing venues across the country, and even booked a few festivals in Europe. Inspired by both some orchestral goth as well as some doom metal they heard while touring in Europe, their next album slowed things down a bit. "Shadows of Midnight" featured deep growling guitar sounds and heavy bass, and slow industrial driven synth, topped off with very haunting, eerie sounding vocals. It was much more melodic and musical than their previous albums, very sombre, reminiscent of an overdriven funeral dirge. They are currently working on a new album, tentatively called "Vanity of Vanities", which is rumored to have picked up tempo slightly, with more of a darkwave feel, but not quite as heavy techno as "Synthetic Pathetic".

Concert Shock

Morticon. The biggest baddest gothic music and culture festival in the world. Thousands of goths, metalheads, ravers, and the like from all over the world gathered in one place for what was certain to be an event they would never forget. One of the headlining acts was Crimson Fantasy. Lead singer, Lola Goth was very psyched for the event. It was the biggest show they had ever done. So, when a little rainstorm threatened to end the festivities early, she refused to cancel the show. Afterall, it wasn't close enough to be a threat yet.

Lola stood behind the stage wall as the MC announced Crimson Fantasy. The thunderous chants from the audience mixed with the thunder in the distance. Was it getting closer? Well, they didn't come this far to let a little rain stop them. The band walked on to the stage first, and began the heavy beat of their opening song. Slowly the call of "Lola! Lola!" began to emerge, getting louder, and erupting into screams as she walked out and stepped up to the mic. The first song went great. But the second song was a cover of "Before I'm Dead" by the Kidney Thieves, which began with a brutal guitar riff followed by a bone-chilling scream from Lola. In the days to come, many thought this was eerily prophetic, as it was this song where disaster struck. Disaster by the name of lightning. Right as she was shouting the word "dead", a bolt hit the metal supports of the stage. The current arced through the structure's steel joints, fried the sound board, and shot through the cables. Sparks flew from the guitars. The speakers blew... And the crowd watched in horror as they watched Lola collapse on the stage, smoke rising from her motionless body. The crowd instantly silenced as rescue crews rushed to revive her. It was no use. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and taken to the local morgue.

Dead And Gone

Lola's lifeless corpse was placed in a cold chamber in the autopsy room awaiting final examination. But when the coroner came in the following morning to make an official cause of death report, he was greeted with a startling discovery. The body of Lola Goth was gone. Security footage showed nothing aside from the body bag in which she was placed lying on the table, then a brief flicker of the lights, and the bag was gone. But before they could break the news and start an investigation, they were contacted by the PPD. It was then revealed that the Department of Superhuman Activities had confiscated the body, and transported it to Paragon City, where top scientists were currently working to revitalize Lola. They apologized for the intrusion, but believed it was necessary to act immediately if there was any chance of saving her. DSA officials did not reveal just how valuable they thought her to be, as they were very familiar of similar instances, and knew the results could be catastrophic, should she recover under another's hands... because as they knew, they were not the only ones who kept tabs on such instances.

Though her heart had stopped, the synapses in her brain were still firing, so they knew they had something to work with, and were able to get her to their laboratory within hours of her collapse. Lola's body was hooked up to countless electronic instruments, which artificially operated her organs. Slowly, they began to regain control, and one by one they were detached from the machines. After an agonizing 3 weeks under constant care and supervision, Lola awoke.

A Star Has Risen

The accident had left Lola with an extreme electrical current pulsing through her body, one that the scientists knew she could learn to harness. What they were not prepared for was what the incident had done to her voice. When she opened her mouth and began to speak, the doctor was knocked against the wall and left stunned for several minutes. Thankfully she was only able to speak in a subdued whisper at the time, they realized. Further studies revealed that the supercharged powers core was emanating from her larynx, which caused her voice to have a substantial impact, like being hit with a truck every time she spoke. A team of developers began immediately constructing a device which would contain the potentially deadly energy driving her vocals, so she could speak normally, and hopefully even sing again.

Lola began the rehabilitation process, and the doctors were very pleased at how rapidly she recovered. Before long, she was cleared to leave the hospital, and just come back for treatment and rehab. She also began the grueling task of mastering her powers, working with the Heroes Division of the Paragon Police Department to refine and control her new abilities. Though they tried to keep her identity secret as long as they were able, it wasn't long before rumors began surfacing, along with pictures on the internet of people claiming to have seen her. Tired of hiding herself, she visited Pocket D, where she was easily recognized, and agreed to an interview with Paragon Music Monthly. The PPD was not real happy at her taking action without permission, they claimed it would jeopardize security, but if anything it seemed to bolster her position. Music venues began requesting her specifically to investigate a crime spree where a gang of Freakshow were breaking into clubs. She wasn't sent alone, but gradually the PPD and DSA were impressed enough with her skills that she was granted full hero status.

Though eager to get back to music, the scientists overseeing the development of the vocal repressor were not convinced it was yet strong enough to endure the extra force that would be generated by adrenaline amped singing. After a few prototype designs, they finally agreed to let her begin recording again, in a specially designed studio. Getting back to music was a great relief, but she still found herself desiring to continue her work as a hero.

Rockstar Hero

Crimson Fantasy is currently back in the studio, working hard to finish up "Vanity of Vanities". No word yet on when Lola will be allowed back on to the live performance scene, but her fans are very supportive of her new found position among Paragon City's elite superheroes. She has also commented on the change in fanmail. Where she used to get letters from young girls all over with dreams and aspirations of becoming a rock star when they grew up, she now gets letters from them with dreams of becoming a hero. Lola says she is "deeply moved, inspired, and encouraged by the response [of the fans]". Will she continue working as a hero once she is cleared to start touring again?

"I certainly hope so. I might not be able to spend as much time, but I plan to always be on the Hero Reserve list at least. Music is great, but helping people in this way has given me a rush bigger than any concert." -Lola

Well, whatever the future holds for Lola Goth, she is certain to make it rock.

Society of Sound
Lola just announced she is opening a new club in Paragon City. She has partnered with the Supergroup, Society of Salvation, and is headlining their entertainment division, which is called Society of Sound. The club is still under construction, but she hopes to have it open early next year.
