Background
Michael Hayze was born two minutes after his identical twin brother Gabrael. He was also the weaker of the two, born with an underdeveloped heart. Doctors did not expect him to live to see his 18th birthday. Much of his childhood was spent in and out of hospitals. He was subject to remaining medicated and undergoing moderate physical therapy in supervised settings. His parents restricted his physical activity and interaction with other children for fear his weak heart would suffer further damage and possibly kill him. This frustrated Michael as he watched his twin live the life of a normal boy under privileged circumstances. As the twins grew older Michael's condition worsened. Though the boys still shared some identical features, Michael was much smaller in stature than Gabrael. Eventually when people would first meet them, they thought that Gabrael was Michael's older brother rather than his twin.
Though the Hayze family possessed a great deal of wealth, much of it was depleted over the years due to Michael's extensive medical needs. Out of desperation and love for his son, Michael's father began to work for a company that was suspected of doing business with Crey and several organizations in the Rogue Islands. The money and contacts Mr. Hayze made enabled him to continue to pay for Michael's care. To this day Michael is still unaware of his father's actions, as the Senior Hayze recently retired.
Shortly after the twins' 19th birthday, Michael was admitted to a top secret medical facility where doctors offered one last hope for survival; a former Nictus in need of a willing host. Results of the merge took well over a year to come full circle, but were astounding. The Nictus presence irradicated all physical shortcomings and enhanced his body to shocking proportions. Not only was Michael's heart strong, he'd gained four inches in height, approximately 100 pounds in body mass, and the powers of the Nictus.
To protect the family and Michael from those less tolerant of the Nictus, the Hayzes' refrain from telling anyone about it. They prefer to let people believe his recovery was due to a heart transplant and intense physical therapy.
Life As A Hero
Michael is very grateful for the Nictus and his second chance at life. He knows that without it, he would be dead by now. He is very determined to make sure his life has meaning by serving Paragon City as a Hero. He has kept his Hero identity from his family, knowing they would voice strong displeasure at placing himself in danger when he came so close to death. He also fears it would make his twin resent him. As children, Gabrael always wished he were like some of the mutant children whose families ran in the same circles as theirs. He had dreams of becoming a Hero one day. But since none of the Hayze family is known to possess the Meta gene or super powers of any kind, Gabrael decided the closest he would come to Heroing was to attend college and go into the Police Academy. Michael knows that Gabrael loves him, but would envy and possibly resent his ability to become the kind of hero his brother always wanted to be.
It has only been two years since his merge with the Nictus, so Michael is still adjusting to the new powers. He did not know much about the Nictus before the joining, save for what he had learned in school. The Nictus willingly answered Michaels endless barrage of questions with patience and mild amusement. And yet, Michael still craves knowledge about the Kheldian race, the Nictus, and their reasons for being on Earth. He knows there are others like him, and hopes to make contact in an effort to better understand the sentient being sharing his body.
Michael was so grateful that the Nictus would enable him to live, that he did not mind the difficulties he faced in adjusting to its presence. The only thing he still has trouble with at times, is when the Nictus shares its thoughts. It often speaks to him telepathically. The first time it spoke to him was several hours after the merge, as Michael was waking from an induced sleep. The Nictus told him its name was Kaseth and that he would not regret his decision to accept the being. It did not speak again for several days, but Michael could always feel its presence. Very quickly he discovered that Kaseth was quite a character with an abundant sense of humor. It actually teased Michael for weeks before finally revealing its gender. Much to Michael's relief, Kaseth turned out to be male. He can't imagine what it would have been like to have a female presence in his head all the time. Its a thought that makes him chuckle to this day.
Personality
Michael's personality did not change much after the merge. He has always been optimistic, no matter how ill or close to death he was. He's always been quick to smile and outgoing. He is intelligent, very pleasant to be around, easy to get along with, and very capable of laughing at himself. He's passionate about music, law enforcement, video games, education, and helping those in need. He does have a serious side and can seem a bit mysterious at times. But it is out of neccessity, not poor disposition. Sometimes, it may appear that he is brooding or lost in thought, but in fact, he is engaged in a meaningful exchange with Kaseth.
He has taken on some of Kaseth's habits and interests out of respect and appreciation for his co-habitant. Kaseth and Michael share an avid interest in education, but the Nictus is passionate about science. It has greatly improved Michael's grades in college to have a "live-in" study buddy. Michael's eagerness to help those in need is enhanced by Kaseth's desire to attone for his Nictus past.
Physical Description
After Michael's merge with the Nictus, he and his twin looked truly identical once more. It was as if Michael had never been ill and had grown up doing all the things a normal boy would do, just like his brother. But up close, there is one tell tale difference between them. The color of their eyes. They both used to have brilliant blue eyes, but the Nictus altered Michael's to a pale shade of silver. Because his eyes can be a bit unsettling to others, Michael tends to wear dark glasses most of the time.
The twins also have very pale blond hair with natural goldish highlights. Their facial features are chisled, almost rugged. As mentioned before, Michael and his twin are both 6'4 and 285 pounds. They have muscular builds that lead some people to assume the pair played football in highschool, and usually ask if they play in college. Due to his illness, Michael was shorter and very frail before the Nictus. Those that knew him during his illness are very taken aback by his newfound health, leading to a great deal of speculation as to how he became well.
He does have quite a collection of scars on his chest from past operations.
Equipment
Michael loves gadgets. He is always ordering from catalogues, from the internet, or shopping at the nearest tech stores. He's fond of surveillance equipment and an assortment of other high-tech devices that he's incorporated into his battle suit.

Powers & Abilities
Though Michael's physical stature appears to be identical to his twin, there are vast differences that cannot be seen at first glance.

- Heightened senses, particularly but not limited to night vision, which could further explain the silver eye color, and why his eyes are more sensitive to daylight than they used to be.
- Additional powers from the Nictus, including teleportation and shadow manipulation.
- A slowly developing ability to communicate telepathically with other telepaths.

Kaseth
The former Nictus now inhabiting Michael's body has a past that he is deeply ashamed of. He has spoken of it only to Michael who was understandably horrified at first. But when Kaseth expressed his sincere regrets and desires to atone for his transgressions, Michael became determined to help his companion succeed.
The darker details of Kaseth's nefarious deeds as a Nictus are not mentioned aloud, for they are that disturbing. Kaseth has shared the memories with Michael in an effort to repent as well as be completely truthful from the beginning of their cohabitation of the human body. Kaseth knew as Michael's skills advanced and he became fully attuned to the Nictus presence, that there would be no way of hiding any truth from the young man no matter how hard he tried. There comes a point where Nictus and Host can no longer errect barriers between one another, they are merged on so complete a level. Kaseth saw enough of Michael's mind when they joined, that he knew if he were not truthful from the beginning, Michael would likely choose to cast out the sentient being and face imminent death rather than remain as one with a being he felt betrayed by.
Records of Kaseth's deeds can surely be found through out the Rogue Isles and other parts of the world if one searches hard enough for them. He took such complete control of each host with immediate brute force, that they were no longer their former selves. They were in every manner, Kaseth in a stolen body. If one attempts to trace the name back through history, they still will not discover his true age. The first few centuries of his life on earth were never documented. However it is highly unlikely that anyone would go to such lengths over a Nictus believed long expired. The fact is, Kaseth's survival depended on Michael as much as Michael's depended on him.
The Nictus was very close to the end of his days when he and Michael were presented to each other. He'd spent centuries taking one unwilling host after another until finally facing the dark reality of his existance. It was then he swore he would never take another unwilling host again, even if it meant death.
The Grae Academy
Michael enrolled in The Grae Academy on June 24th, 2008. He has been a student at Paragon University since graduating high school three years ago. Now 21, he still hasn't declared a major, preferring to take any general studies courses that pique his interest. He has the money, and loves educating himself, so he sees no need to rush into choosing a major. His methods might seem odd to some, but if Michael has his way, he'll spend his entire life as a student and Hero.
It wasn't until recently that he registered as a hero, and the University's summer schedule began to conflict with his training. He preferrs to remain enrolled in courses year round, to stay in the studying mindset. He was less than pleased to discover the University could not accomodate him durring the summer months and had resigned himself to the possibility that he would not be taking any classes until the Fall. But then he saw a flier for The Grae Academy and knew it was the solution to his problem. He could take a few courses and still continue his hero training. It was perfect. So he enrolled as quickly as possible, despite knowing that some summer courses were already a few weeks underway.
Michael knew he'd be able to catch up. He'd always worked well under pressure. He was also very eager to begin the classes he'd chosen. He'd gone over the course listing and noted that some required at least one of the ethics classes. He would take both for the sheer pleasure of learning. He was very excited about the Kheldian related classes, as well as Criminal Psychology, Technology and You, and Combat Tactics and Techniques.
It would be difficult to explain his presence in some of the classes, seeing as he had no intention of telling anyone that he was a registered hero just yet. Michael rarely told anyone his hero identity, preferring to let people think he was simply a regular guy, hungry for knowledge. He had his reasons. Mainly trust, protecting his family, and Kaseth; his Nictus. Only a handful of people in the world knew about Kaseth. That could change someday, but for now, he was keeping that part of his life a secret as well.

- No one knows Michael Hayze and Lunar Hayze are the same person unless he tells them ICly. With the exception of Hero Registration and his Nictus. In which case his files are encrypted and cannot be hacked into by anyone. Any attempts to RP otherwise will receive no response. I'm not trying to be rude here, I'm just firmly set in this.
- No one knows about Kaseth, his Nictus, unless he ICly tells them. With the exception of his immediate family and the doctors involved in the merge. Again, attempts to RP otherwise will receive no response. I refrain from using any of his shape shifting forms in front of those that do not know about the Nictus. So as far as anyone can tell, his powers are derived from a mutation.
- If you would like to RP one of his family members or the doctors involved, please discuss it with me OOCly first. I wouldn't mind a storyline where someone else plays his relatives. Especially his twin, or a plot twist where his twin goes rogue and becomes a villain.
