Pre-History

In the 1940’s, many of the best and brightest minds of Axis Germany were involved with the Third Reich’s human experimentation programs. Among these was a young man named Heinrich Emacia.

Heinrich was a true believer. Little more mattered to him than the glory of the Reich and the will of the Fuhrer to have the perfect soldier. To this end, Heinrich performed terrible experiments with crude genetic manipulation, many of which involved exposing human guinea pigs to various degrees of radiation in an attempt to cause mutation.

The luckier test subjects died quickly, whereas the less fortunate found themselves slowly rotting away, eaten by cancer and radiation poisoning. Their suffering mattered little to Heinrich. Hitler would have his superman.

As the allies marched to Berlin, Heinrich knew the Reich’s swan song was playing. He was a sociopath, but not a fool. The Reich would fall, and Heinrich knew that to be captured by the allies meant to be held accountable for his atrocities committed in the name of science, and put to death.

Vowing to continue his work, Heinrich secured a small fortune in looted gold, his son Gustav, and fled.

Their travels eventually lead them to the amazon rain forest. It was there Heinrich saw this secluded land as the perfect place for him to continue his research uninterrupted. Using his stolen fortune, he hired a band of mercenaries to help him subjugate the local tribes. The primitive people saw the miracles of Heinrich’s science, and believed him to be a god. Those who did not kneel were destroyed.

Over the next several years, Heinrich pursued his research and raised Gustav. He inundated his young son’s mind with the ideals of the Reich, their own place among the superior race, and the will to power. He stressed the will as the ultimate vehicle towards strength, and that the strong shall always preside over the week.

Gustav took the Nietzschian principles to heart more than Heinrich could ever have imagined. Years later, in ailing health, Heinrich was murdered by his own son.

Gustav was a scientific genius and sociopathic madman, just like his father. However, where Heinrich’s mania was guided by a political ethos, Gustav’s motivation was much simpler: a lust for personal power. He viewed all others as inferior to him, and thus deserving only to be crushed or subjugated.

It was shortly after his father’s murder, that Gustav began work on what he viewed his magnum opus: a pair of artificially created, genetically perfect super soldiers. They would be his ultimate creation, and possessing of a power to make them truly worthy of being called his progeny.

Gustav’s first step towards creation was to create and grow the children themselves. Using his mastery of genetic manipulation and his super genius, he artificially inseminated a split egg. The egg grew into twins: a boy and girl, whom he named Dietrich and Madeline.

Early Life

From the moment they were conceived, Gustav subjected the twins to batteries upon batteries of tests and experiments meant to weed out genetic impurity and physical imperfection. They were also given the best physical training in the world, being subjected to boot-camp like training regiments almost as soon as they were able to walk.

Gustav not only molded their bodies, but he molded their minds. the children were put through rigorous mental conditioning programs. These programs were designed to suppress and crush what Gustav viewed as the weakness of the human mind: compassion, mercy and fear, and make the two the killing machines they were meant to be.

However, Gustav was not a fool. He did not want his creations turning against them. In addition to their regular mental training, the children were regularly indoctrinated and brainwashed to have an unflinching loyalty to their father, as well as minimally display the human traits Gustav thought weak: fear and compassion.

Gustav’s training did not stop at mere indoctrination. He would often put his children through invasive chemical and surgical procedures meant to alter the very structure of their brains in an effort to weed out weakness.

All while Gustav was brutally raising his children, he was working on the second part to his plan: a serum that would act as a catalyst to spontaneously mutate human DNA, granting super powers to those who previously possessed none.

This proved to be more difficult than Gustav anticipated, and the development of the serum was wrought with setbacks and error. Hundreds of test subjects died at the hands of Gustav and his serum.

When satisfied his serum was only eighty percent fatal, as opposed to certainly so, Gustav felt it was time to administer it to his greatest creations: his children. Their survival meant little to him. After all, all data regarding their creation had been recorded, and they could easily be reproduced.

Madeline, who always sought her father’s love and approval willfully volunteered to be the first of the two to be administered the serum. The procedure was successful, Madeline now possessed a mutant ability to emit and control radiation. There were side effects, however. Her body put out a radioactive aura poisonous to others, which forced her into isolation from others.

The Family Life

By the time the children were ten years old, Gustav was using his children as the very weapons he designed them to be, fueling his madness and megalomania. The trio took what they wanted, and those who stood in their way were mercilessly destroyed. Those who could be swayed would be welcome into the fold, once they swore an oath of loyalty to Gustav.

It was during this time, that Gustav made a discovery: an incomplete version of his super mutant serum, when weaponized in an aerosol form, was frighteningly lethal. It was nothing short of a doomsday weapon. The very kind of weapon with which Gustav could use to declare his perceived dominance, and announce his army to the world.

Gustav’s weapon of mass destruction was completed, but before he could transport it to position, his compound was attacked by a combined force of Capes and local military. The battle raged viciously, until Gustav raised aloft a detonator, proclaiming that either he be given passage or every single living being there would die at the hands of his serum bomb.

Dietrich, who had somehow began to develop a conscious, despite his brainwashing, saw his chance to act and did so. He unleashed the full fury of his energy blasts at his father, consuming him and apparently ending his life.

After their leader fell, Gustav’s army was easily overtaken by the supers. Dietrich surrendered to the authorities, and Madeline fled.

On Her Own

Over the next eight years, Madeline survived by doing the only thing she ever knew. Violence. Her destructive abilities, and her lack of moral reservation regarding their use often found her under the employ of various terrorist or criminal organizations throughout the world.

When she was eighteen, her work as a super powered terrorist for hire found her working for a mafia don in Paragon City. Her job was to fend off an attempt on the Don’s life, which was believed to occur at the don’s annual Halloween party.

While en route to the party with three other attendants, (one in costume as a large pink bunny, another as Abraham Lincoln, another as Buzz Lightyear, and Madeline herself as the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz) their car was stopped at a routine PPD checkpoint. Something must have tipped off the police, because the people in the car were asked to step out of the vehicle and remove their costumes.

Once their IDs were ran, all hell broke loose. The Bunny, Buzz and Abe were all taken into custody under suspicion of other criminal deeds. Madeline, being no real citizen of any nation, had no ID and was kept pending investigation.

Hard Times and a True Friend.

Eventually, her identity was uncovered and she was sent straight to the Zig with a minimal trial. Madeline was thrown into a solitary cell outfitted with a suppression field designed to greatly dampen her powers. As it was her powers that fueled her body, this left her in a weakened state. At her best, she was lethargic and weak. At her worst, she was catatonic and barely alive.

So it went for years, Madeline doing little more than existing inside her cell, with little human contact other than the occasional taunts of guards. Until one day, she was approached by a guard captain who informed her she was being transferred from her cell.

There was another inmate, one favored by the guards, who was in need of a bodyguard while inside. The offer was made to Madeline: more freedom within the penitentiary and limited use of her powers, in exchange for this prisoner’s well being. Madeline viewed this as an acceptable offer, and agreed.

She was lead, under heavy guard, to a cell where she met a tall woman with stark red hair. A woman who introduced herself as Maleya D’Cruz. Madeline took to her task readily, protecting Maleya. Over time, Madeline found herself developing a strange feeling towards the other woman. She not only tolerated her presence as she did so many others, but she preferred it. She secretly looked forward to it. It took Madeline several months to define these feelings, but she arrived at it with sudden clarity one day: friendship.

Time marched on, and Madeline and Maleya became closer, like family. The two would often help one another through the hard times of their sentence, simply by being there for one another.

Then came the Arachnos raid on the Zig. During the riots, the wall to their cell burst inward and there stood Mr Kaine alongside another giant of a man known only as Grr. Kaine scooped Maleya up into his arms and proceeded to carry her away. Madeline could only watch as her friend forcibly abandoned her.

Then something happened. Maleya protested. Kaine put her down and she returned to Madeline, insisting she come with them. The act was so selfless and illogical that Madeline was speechless. A second urging from Maleya snapped her out of her confusion, and the quartet disappeared into the night, towards freedom.

To Feel

Once free, Madeline watched people closely. The way they interacted casually, smiling and joking with one another in ways she simply could not understand. She realized she wanted the little things they all took for granted. She wanted to feel.

Madeline began to study various mental disciplines, and through sheer effort of will managed to undo the mental programming and brainwashing put in place by her father all those years ago. This proved to be a double edged sword. Though she could now feel emotions, she did not know how to deal with them. At times, feeling things for the first time would overwhelm her or leave her confused.

Never before was this more evident than with her first love. One night in Pocket D, Madeline caught the eye of a mafioso named Anthony D’Agostino. Little did she know, her best friend and sister Maleya had her eye on the same man. Madeline and Tony became lovers, which caused a vicious feud between the two women, even going so far as to come to blows.

It was during one of these altercations that Maleya pointed out the radiation which Madeline emitted would poison Tony and slowly kill him. Cursing herself for letting her emotions override her logic and reason, she went to Tony.

It was with a bittersweet evening dinner and a final kiss that the two parted ways, under the premise they would get back together after Madeline found a way to safely control her radiation powers.

During this interim, Tony confessed it was Maleya he wanted all along, and was only using Madeline to get closer to her. Twice heartbroken, Madeline focused on her work, toiling in her lab for several weeks, with little human contact.

OOC NOTES

1. When textfighting, I do so by level and common sense. Level is a base representation of your character’s power and threat level. A level one natural origin toon is no match for a full incarnate 50. If you don’t like it, don’t start shit. However, I am willing to make the occasional exception.

2. I do ERP on occasion. Deal with it. However, that does not mean the toon is promiscuous and will jump on the nearest available penis/vagina/catgirlfutavampiresuccubus.

3. If you can’t seperate IC and OOC, please fuck off.

4. I RP incarnate powers as evolutionary leaps in Emacia’s mutation as a result of being exposed to the powers of the Well of the Furies.

They are as follow: -Ion Judgement: A massive bolt of radiation -Reactive Interface: Her radiation powers cause minor molecular destabilization at the point of contact, causing the target to be more prone to damage. -Barrier Destiny: A force-field of quantum energy -Warworks Lore: I don’t use this in RP, simply because I’ve yet to find a way to explain it to my satisfaction.

Goodbye Maddy

((I wrote this as a epilogue to a storyline, should the worst case scenario occur. Thankfully, it didn't and Emacia is alive and well.))

The pain had finally gone away. In its place, there was only the lethargic numbness of sedation. All around her, she vaguely registered the movement of men in white coats as they examined the data collected from the various wires and tubes protruding from her body.

Madeline had no idea how long she was in the tank. Between the secluded nature of the room in which she resided, and fading in and out of consciousness, she had lost all sense of time.

A face appeared on the other side of the glass. A face which made her stomach churn in fear and revulsion: the face of her father.

“Madeline” he began, his voice flat and emotionless. “You had so much potential, yet you squandered it among your lessers.”

She gave him the most hateful look she could summon in her weakened state.

He remained expressionless. “Though, truthfully, I’m not surprised. You were, after all, the first experiment.”

He casually examined various monitors and readouts attached to the tank. “I’ll have to find new means of control with the next model.”

His brow furrows thoughtfully. “I realize you find no solace in your current predicament. However, perhaps you will find some degree of scientific satisfaction in that your genetic makeup will be the building block for my new progeny.”

The man’s fingers danced across the tank’s control panel. “A child truly worth of being called my heir.”

He looked up at his daughter, suspended by wires and tubes in a tank of biotic gel and pressed a final button. “Goodbye, Madeline.”

A tingling warmth spread through her veins, as her eyes grew heavy. They closed, and when they opened again, the three people she loved the most were on the other side of the glass.

The first, a tall woman with a wild mane of red hair put her hand on the glass. Madeline reached out, pressing her hand against the glass as well.

“Don’t be afraid, Maddy.” The redhead smiled. “This isn’t the end, just another beginning.”

Her eyes closed and opened again, slowly. The second person, a young girl with glasses and a ponytail, stepped close to the glass, placing her hand on it. Madeline felt her eyes tearing up, a lump forming in her throat.

“Go on, mama.” The young girl smiled. “They won’t be able to hurt you ever again”

Her eyes closed and opened again, the world seeming to slowly dim. The third person, a large, muscular man with a scarred over eye placed his hand on the glass. The last of Madeline’s resolve broke, and she wept.

“Don’t cry, Emi.” the man smiled. “We’ll be together again soon enough.”

Her eyes closed again.

Opinions on others

Zack Lanning: Zackary is vone of my closest friends, und vone of ze few people around whom I feel I can genuinely let down my guard. He looks after as a child protects his mother, vhich only endears him further.

Ayla Young: I have known her since she vas a little baby. Over ze years, I've vatched her grow into nothing short of an amazing voman. Ze day she said she vanted to be a doctor because of me, vas vone of ze happiest days of my life.

Gustav Emacia: I know he's out zere. I vould be lying if i said zere vas not a part of me dreading ze day he chooses to strike yet again. I vould love to be ze vone to crush him underfoot for good, but deep down, I am still terrified of him.

Eliza M Blackwell: Ze first of my little miracles. She's growing up so much faster zen I vould like, but I suppose even I cannot stop ze progression of time.

Crom Cruach: Zere vas a time i could not stand ze boor. However, i think he und I have come to a mutual understanding. He vill no longer attempt to grope me, und I vill not melt parts of his body. Is a fair trade, ja?
