The Voidfels

 Thousands of years ago, a shadow loomed over the world, growing darker and more powerful every night. This shadow would consume the world, and alter it to its very core, twisting its inhabitants into terrible, dark reflections of what they once were. But the shadow failed. It somehow had fell in on itself, warping the area it filled and tearing a hole in reality. But this didn't stop it from spreading, as it had planned to do.
 
 It twisted, and corrupted the second reality. Withering plants, extinguishing life, and twisting the elements. Years of this corruption spread, and many people throughout the years, would catch glimpses of this dark void, imagining up demons and monsters that would become legendary tales. As time passed, life began to form again, and the elements were consumed and replaced by the void. The majority of these lifeforms were created by the clashing of these void elements. Lightning, Earth, Fire, Ice. Each being formed segregated itself from the others, creating empires where they could harness, and control the Void elements from which they were born. 
 
 And thus the Void Planes came to be. Each being took on characteristics, related to their Void element. Void Lightning being intelligent, as well as fast-footed, energetic and very deadly. Void Earth were powerful, unyielding, and large, yet slow of mind. Void fire were passionate, short-tempered, and devastatingly destructive. Void Ice were calm, emotionless, and peaceful. All four 'races' inhabit their Plane, and they will defend it to the death, but the dark, twisted reality was their home, and they warmly refer to it as the Voidfels.

Mael Blackvoid: The Merge

 In the Voidfels, specifically the Void Lightning Plane, a young Voidling was born. As he grew, he learned the ways, and beliefs of the Void Lightning Plane, as all do upon birth, to adulthood. He trained in battle, with quick, precise hand-to-hand which most Void Lightning beings are well-known for, and even became one of the Chosen, who would be placed in the Lightning Monastery, where he would learn to manipulate and control the Void Lightnings. He learned, and trained, and soon completed his years as an apprentice, and accepted his first Void Lightning Fyr quest, and traveled across the wide expanse of high, flatland of the Void Lightning Plane.
 
 After three weeks of traveling, Mael came across a strange being. A dark, malevolent being. The strange, alien creature referred to itself as Starvoid, a Nictus whom was on a mission to destroy something known as a Kheldian. But, somehow, it had crossed the threshold of Earth's reality, into the Voidfels. It requested Mael's aid, sensing the dark, twisted nature of his being, hoping to boost its own abilities by tenfold. Mael agreed, after all, all this walking wasn't what he had in mind for 'Glorious controllers of Void Lightning, revered by many, feared by all." The two merged, but something unexpected occurred! Upon combining with Mael, the Nictus was absorbed into his twisted core, Mael's dark soul consuming the Nictus, and dispersing its energy throughout his veins, though Mael had no knowledge as to how exactly the merging process was supposed to happen, or how it resulted. So, he kept his end of the bargain, and used his knew found ability to cross the veil that separated the two realities, and emerged in Paragon City.

Abilities

 Many of Mael's abilities are lightning-based, as are many of his characteristics. His blood is deadly to those who cannot withstand extreme voltage, he moves fluidly, and swiftly

and he can summon, and manipulate, the Void Lightnings. Upon the merging with Starvoid, his abilities took on an even darker, more draining aspect. Along with quick, precise hand-to-hand combat, and dark, twisted lightning, he can drain his enemies of energy, and life, and can even manipulate gravity to a small extent. After a few weeks of self-training, he's managed to piece together his own, unique fighting style.
