History
In The Beginning
Born into mild wealth, Jeremy Servanta was just a child when the Great Hamidon War began in his world. Brought to Nova Praetoria in the near beginning of the shelling on the monster began. As protected as they were, supplies and food were scarce due to the overwhelming amount of people coming in for sanctuary. As his father and mother struggled against the fighting of day to day food and water riots, Jeremy began to fall into the wrong crowds, not that many were good in a time of chaos.
He quickly found himself in with a gang of young hooligans, led by a boy named Raul and his girlfriend Sophie. They were a small gang at first, knocking over water and food vending machines and robbing the elderly. After a while their following became large enough that more leadership was required, and Raul was hardly a coordinator. Asking Jeremy, who had been half way through his finishing school teachings before being brought here, Raul found the young man was very charismatic and cunning.
Quickly organizing the gang members into small packs, he had them move on to other tactics then their current activities that did little more then help the chaos continue. Jeremy enjoyed the chaos, but unlike Raul, was far thinking enough to know that it was only a matter of time until someone bigger or badder was going to knock all of them off when they became a big enough problem.
Against Raul’s better judgment, he agreed to let Jeremy begin small delivery services, a package here, a vial of drugs there, eventually making quite a name for himself and his now large gang of hooligans. Racketeering services and other such mid level concepts began to spill into the infrastructure of the gang, making everyone wealthy and powerful, especially Jeremy.
Raul began to get suspicious of Jeremy, and set up a trap to remove him from the gang.
His mistake was trusting his girlfriend, Sophie, who had already been seduced and was with him now, which seemed to be known to everyone but Raul.
Leading Jeremy to a warehouse to pick of some merchandise, the plan was to let a rival gang kill him and serve as a explosive start to a gang war.
Little did Raul know that Jeremy was five steps ahead of him. Sophie had already used her female charms to have the head of the other gang to cooperative with Jeremy’s gang for this operation, and they were led to believe they would be killing Raul and combining to the other gang, who was significantly more powerful then them.
The truth of the matter was far from any of their ideas. Jeremy calmly walked into the trap, smiling at Raul, informing him that he had taken his girlfriend, his gang, and soon his life, and no one would be the wiser. Before Raul could exhale a line of expletives to his would be friend, a small army of law enforcement broke in and opened fire, killing everyone in the building, both rival gang leaders and the one’s Raul had trusted to be his lieutenants against Jeremy.
Sophie was a bit surprised by this, and was even more shocked when Jeremy thanked her for the use of her in bed, and quickly shot her in the forehead, leaving the gun in Raul’s hands.
Times Change
Escaping unseen, Jeremy took full control over the organization and started fresh with ideas, killing anyone who thought his ideas were wrong, typically in a way orchestrated by Jeremy to show others the folly of that one’s thinking without implicating himself.
As the war took a turn, and Hamidon was beaten back, Jeremy saw the organization of the PPD to be a harbinger of doom to his way of life. He knew he had to evolve or die, and he chose the former.
After waging street fights with the PPD, it was clear to Jeremy that they would be winning soon, backed by the technology and the firepower to take down anything in their path. He quickly put his second hand, David, into the leadership position as the PPD began it’s intel gathering on the group, going underground to infiltrate the PPD and it’s mysterious source of Clockwork. As the files on the gang leaders began to mount up, Jeremy found his own information on the PPD, namely that despite it’s clockwork were destroying the criminal element, they were not in high amounts, nor were they being manufactured faster then they could be taken down.
Digging further he found that raw material, steel and other metals and resources were in high demand and low availability due to the long drawn out war with Hamidon before Cole had beaten it back. They needed more material or they would soon run out of troops.
Jeremy came to the conclusion that if they overran the Clockwork, it would be only a matter of time the new world order would have a new way of destroying them. It was time to move on.
Finding the notes and work of his parents, who had at this time found a comfortable place in the high society of the growing world that Cole was making, Jeremy began to use the more creative side of his brain to bring out a new material, Servantium. It was super strong, yet easy to create with the materials the new world had access to, making it ideal to use in clockwork manufacturing and building stock.
During his underground time, the files gathered by the PPD were finished and a decisive strike on the leadership killed David and everyone else in the high end of the gang Jeremy had ran, leaving them scattering like cockroaches. Jeremy returned to the burning building, watching as the final of his leaders died at the hands of Clockwork, and they turned to him. Only to stop functioning, as a man lept out of the shadows, protecting Jeremy.
Shocked, Jeremy found out the man’s name was Richard Dreadskoff, and had been a low level engineer in his organization. The device he had used on the Clockwork seemed to work for a while, long enough for him to learn Richard’s name, and draw the attention of the Praetor of Science, Dr. Raymond Keyes, who was both intrigued and offended that such a lowly set of minds could stop his Clockwork.
Keyes, sometimes known as Anti-Matter, ordered the Clockwork to quietly bring in the two, to find out what they had done to disrupt his minions from their mission. He took great care, as Cole was making another public appearance in Nova Praetoria, concerning the shortage of food and the abundance of crime.
Taken prisoner, Jeremy’s mind raced with ideas, and quickly devised an escape. Brought in by Clockwork, he had his new friend, Richard, overclock the troops’ vital systems, making them overheat and lock up, freeing them and letting them dash to the podium as Cole spoke. Anti-Matter charged after them, knocking into the back of Jeremy, but having the opposite intended end. Anti-Matter and Jeremy crashed through the backdrop and landed next to Cole, making everyone stop. Capitalizing on the moment, Jeremy reveled he and Keyes had just finished cementing a deal to make a new age metal that would halt the problem of resource shortages, and sought Cole's approval for Jeremy to head the project.
As Jeremy became the credited inventor of Servantium, he shook hands with Cole, making sure that as many of the remaining media outlets saw him. Anti-Matter and Cole both watched as he went onto explain he could have things up and running in a short time, with help from the Preators.
Forced into a corner, Cole agreed and ordered Anti-Matter to work with the young man. As the crowd cheered, Jeremy smiled and waved to his parents, both of whom were proud of him. Later he realized that might have been a mistake.
Anti-matter and Jeremy worked on what needed to be done, getting a massive foundry up and running, Jeremy brought his new friend, Richard, as a business partner as he set up in Imperial City. It was only a matter of time that combined with Anti-Matter’s hardware and software, and Jeremy’s materials, that the streets of Praetoria were filled with Clockwork, cleaning and enforcing, the entire island.
Popularity and a known name worked in favor of Jeremy, as did the machine that spun tales of Cole being a Tyrant. Both kept Jeremy safe, and well off, as he played a dangerous game of keep away from Cole’s now nearly god like status among the human race.
Jeremy had just begun to settle down, Tyrant began to grow tired of him constantly wanting more resources for more useless ideas, when Anti-Matter’s Clockwork were suited and fine as they were.
Unable to simply outright kill Jeremy, he sent him a message. Staging something similar to what Jeremy would have done, Tyrant sent Jeremy several files implicating his former days in the gang and how Raul had died. That being enough, Tyrant wanted to cement his stance to Jeremy, and had his parents killed, making it seem like a tragic accident.
Devastated by their death, Jeremy wanted revenge, but knew it wouldn’t be possible out right. So he took his resources and began to direct his business partner Richard to start using any and all technology experts he had to outdo Anti-Matter and Neuron’s tech, which would be considerably hard as they both had the same benefactor, Cole.
Jeremy’s digging found that Cole was making preparations to create an Imperial Defense Force, but lacked the high powered armored required, and both Keyes and Neuron were failing at making viable solutions. Thankfully for Jeremy, Richard Dreadskoff, was an A.I. expert who had been working on making his own A.I. aided power armor prior to the war.
Fortune & Glory
After much trial and error in his work, Jeremy’s partner had completed the finishing touches on a working power armor concept. He began to build on the failed styles of both the warring Praetors, Barry and Keyes, and took from each’s model an understanding of what went wrong. Both designs had flaws, both were full of innovations as well. The late hours and the endless weeks of work began to take their toll on Richard’s marriage as well, his wife Catalina saw him less and less each month as he worked feverishly in the lab to meet deadlines Jeremy’ put forward
At long last, the prototype was complete and Richard took it out for a test walk in the main lab floor, much to Jeremy’s displeasure, exposing several of his workers to the armor which was supposed to be top secret. After a successful walk, Jeremy and Richard argued over the event, while unknown to Richard, his partner had already set a plan in motion, killing most of the lab technicians and witnesses and blaming the up and coming gang called The Destroyers.
Devastated by the loss of his team, Richard succumb to Jeremy’s wishes and remained sequestered in the lab until the final tests were complete. It was then when finally Richard had called Jeremy there, that things began to unravel fast. Upon seeing and approving of the outer shell, Jeremy thanked his friend for the instructions and the blueprints which he claimed he would be giving to the Ministry of Technology in the morning, and insisted they celebrate. Moments after, Jeremy’s true colors again flew true, he paralyzed Richard with a surgical device, laying him on a large piece of equipment meant to cut through large sections of metal via a plasma stream. As Richard watched, the tools he had just used to give his friend what he thought would user in a new era of piece became his death stroke as the beam cut through his body, his last vision of Jeremy smiling, promising to make sure he took good care of his wife.
After fixing a few records and eliminating some more evidence, he had the suit, the technology and the glory again in the spot light. Putting another bullet proof shield on him from Cole’s administration, who were fast needing a better spin machine to take down charismatic fools like Jeremy that he couldn’t control. Cole decided to let Jeremy burn himself out as a bright star in the new world he was creating, a star that burns brightest, after all, fades fastest.
