Unit VCR-1 ("The Vicar") is Major James Ashe's Clockwork manservant. Equipped with multiple brushes, cleaning solution dispensers, a squeegee, and an adjustable vacuum nozzle, the Vicar can handle practically any cleaning needs in the Major's apartment and in M.E.R.C. headquarters.

History

The Vicar is what remains of the Major's trusty video cassette recorder after it was stolen and cannibalized for parts by the Clockwork in the spring of 2004. Though the Major and his friends found the thieves' den, his VCR was beyond rescue, having already been incorporated into a new Clockwork drone (easily identifiable by the flashing "12:00" LCD panel in its chest). All was not lost, though; after the Clockwork had been "forcibly deactivated," the hero Tech Head took the remains of the VCR-turned-drone and, after ensuring it was not going to be reanimated by the Clockwork King, outfitted it with a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and a vast array of cleaning tools.
