History story I wrote and posted on the New Guardian Angels web site, aka New Urban legends and Blood Angels
In the Ancient days it is said that the Goddess Artimis Created Dryads as the Keepers of the forests, however, in my travels trough Greece and the Balkans I have never found any evidence of Dryads Heinrich Schliemann (1868). Possible Meta Humans in Ancient Mythology. Pg1698
Studying the Mythology of elves, at first they seem to relate and correspond to an unknown group of Meta Humans who were created by the Gods. Even though the word is Germanic and Norse in Origin, I have found Correlations to elves in Hindi and Latin sources, it may be possible that for a time Elves existed. However with the Hamidon wars we may never actually find where they were Professor R. Cornilus (1976) History of Elves in literature.
15th of April 1239 the Tatra Mountain region of the Carpathian Mountains
Springtime in the Karpetes Mountains or Carpathian Mountains can be one of the most beautiful things to behold, the snow on the mountains with lush green valleys, and today was such a day. The snow had receded to the tree line, the valley was lush and green with trees, and a lake, along the lake was a Greco style city surrounds by trees that seemed too tall for a settlement.
The real enigma of this valley however was a Classic Middle ages Castle and keep complex that was at the Far end of the Greek style town, although the castle was defiantly softer in design than you typical middle ages fortress it still sat like thorn in heaven. The few banners on the Keep where red, blue and gold, with the gold coloring being the image of a Bulls Head with a flower, a moon, and a star surrounding the image.
A baby can be heard crying from inside the keep, and a rather loud crying at that.
“Your grace.” The Elvin Doctor looked to an Elf in fine red robes with a crest that nearly matched the flags on the fortress with only an addition of an eagle with a small crown on its head behind the shield crest. “The lady has given you a daughter, and they are both doing well.”
“That is good news doctor,” the Elvin Lord said as he walked away with an air of relief and disappointment. “I must get back to the affairs of state.” He added as if he was convincing himself this was true.
19th of August 2009 Nova Praetoria
A seer and a group of PPD where standing around the seer seemed to be scanning the area with her minds powers while the officers laughed and joked about bashing the heads of some teens in. Around this group where a few pedestrians and a taxicab which was parked while the driver was probably in a nearby café. “Hey Joe, so this kid though he was in the powers division or something” the officer was joking “he had on a green wetsuit that didn’t even fit him.”
“And to think he was such a wimp as well” Joe replied, “I can’t believe that he wanted to fight us for pushing people around” they both laughed.
“What was he Junior Resistance, or something, are they recruiting babes now, hey twinkle toes seer any resistance sympathizers for us?” The officer said to the seer while still laughing with his partner Joe.
“I feel, wait I hear in my head a person with rage, malicious hate for us, but her mind is there but not there, it’s like I’ve seen this mind once before,” she paused trying to focus on something, “yes it was during training, I remember her she was…” she stopped talking and fell to the ground unmoving.
The two officers did not seem to register immediately that she was dead with a bullet hole in her forehead, as they were still chuckling. As a section of the air around them started to move in the shape of a person, and a woman in a green and brown combat suit decloaked with two silenced pistols pointed at the cop’s open months and fired.
She started to walk away and she returned to being cloaked and vanished.
31st July 1350 the Tatra Mountain region
You see a female elf with bow and arrows practicing various shots not in the usual stand and shot method but the running and shooting method her aim was perfect, even at a full sprint she seemed to never miss a shot.
Behind her was a group of Elders talking to the Lord of the region and her father.
“She is by far the best bowmen we have seen yet” one of the elders said “it’s as if she is touched by Artimis herself.”
“I understand Lord Mage Wiflem” her father replied “but it is the duty of my nonexistent son, not my daughter to join with the league of protectors, she should study Magical arts like her mother’s before her, and for the last hundred years I have tried to get her focused on magic.”
“My lord she has the gift of Magic, but she has no patience for magic, she has become one of our finest hunters” the Mage said. As he watched the young elf girl practice.
“Mar-har-iel” the lord raised his voice.
The Girl stopped and put her arrows away and started to undo the bowstring as she walked to her father. “Yes father” she said as she got to the gathered.
“It seems the finest scholars of our people have come to a rather unusual position,” he looked at the elders with anger, but when he looked back at her his eyes softened and he smiled with look sadness “it seems they think you should join as a protector and not as a mage. In our ten thousand year history, this has happened only five times before, though we have no rules against this as the humans might, it is still very unusual. However, you have been a better son than I was for my father. Therefore, I have decided you are to join the Guardians not as a mage, but as a Protector. “
1434 Tatra Mountains
It is the evening before a great battle. The valley where the Elves lived is now filled with two Armies. One made up of Elves and humans geared and positioned in defense around the castle and the forest. The other Army belongs to Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia who will one day be known as Vlad Tepes or Vlad Dracula, which was made of Hardened fighters Mages and other things less than civilized.
Vlad was in the front of his Army, he was sitting on a black stallion with his hand held up displaying a natural talent for magic he hand light emitting from his hand as he rode in the space between the defenders and his Army.
“Peoples and Eldrin, of the Tatra, I wish you no evil, my land is threatened from the east and you posses an Artifact of the Lord that might be used to stop the Ottoman Horde. Present it to me and I shall lead my Army back home where it will be best served protecting Christendom from the Islamic Menace, however, if by first light you have not surrender the Tablet of Destinies, or else I will kill every living thing in this valley.” As he said this, a black arrow flew at him but instead of hitting him it stopped mid Air as if it was caught by an invisible hand, the Arrow had a note tied to it. He read it aloud with an evil grin “It seems I have a response:
‘Sir, You trespass on Holy ground, you invade without Mercy, even if the treat is real our mission is to prevent Mortal hands from ever touching the thing you seek, if we have to destroy it to pervert you from having it we will. Lord Mar’Ha’Tog the Guardian of Destiny, Keeper of the Tablet, defender of the trust of the Gods’
Sir I take you at your word and shall wait no more” he looked to his Army and titled his head towards the defenders, thought the ranks you could hear the shouting and horns indicating the charge was called.
All through the Night and well into the afternoon the battle had raged but the keep had fallen all that was left of the defense was the throne room.
“Marhiel” the Lord Martog said “you and the Mages hold the door while I prepare the Tablets for destruction.”
Marhiel and a group of mages stood by the door Marhiel with her bow at the ready while each of the mages had a spell set ready to cast, when the door exploded into the room. Shards of wood and splinters went flying everywhere catching some of the mages and killing them instantly. Marhiel avoided the majority of the shards and started to fire her bow into the smoke that was the door, after about twenty arrows where cast Marhiel was picked up by and invisible hand, and the smoke cleared. Vlad was standing in the middle and about a Hundred of his men were lying dead with arrows in them.
“You my dear seem to be the best of your people, I shall not kill you, but I will never let you know freedom again.” He pulled out a jeweled oil lamp of his robes and spoke a few silent words in a language that didn’t sound human. Marhiel turned in to a cloud of smoke and was sucked in to the lamp.
Walking to the rear of the throne room was a small alter behind the throne Vlad saw Lord Martog Chanting over the tablet, Vlad Impaled Martog with his sword and the Elvin Lord fell dead.
Savoring his victory Vlad set the lamp and the sword down to pick up the Tablet. He looked mesmerized as he held it forgetting what he set down he walked slowly out of the keep holding the tablet in the air, for all to see.
1856 August California
The stagecoach was uncomfortable bouncing and hitting ruts in the road, however the passengers did not notice or seem to care, there was an old man who looked very rich and well educated, talking to a young woman.
“Grandfather, I understand your need to go and find relics of the past but why are we going to San Francisco, it’s been such a long ride from Chicago.” She said seemingly to start the same conversation she has had everyday day for the last month.
Moreover, as if to point out the significance in a way that seems old hat now the Professor grabbed an old jeweled lamp out of a leather bag. “My Dear Sofia, see this Lamp, according to legion it was the Lamp of Aladdin. However, no matter how many times I rub it nothing happens. Therefore, I researched the legion carefully and found out you had to say magic words written on a magic sword to make use of the genie of the lamp, or you could break the lamp to free the spirit. I have a friend who was visiting the Russian River Valley and found an Old Cossacks who has such a sword. We are going to San Francisco to meet with him.” Before putting the lamp away he asked “do we really need to say these lines every day, can you not just enjoy the trip we are only three days away now.”
Just then, a series of gunshots went off and the stage came to an abrupt halt.
“Everyone out of the coach and no one gets hurt” a voice called out.
The doctor and his granddaughter slowly get out of the stagecoach two gunmen where pointing guns at them and the driver.
“Now Professor, we hear talk you have several rare and very valuable treasures on you.” The gun man looked at the lamp and moved his horse closer so he could bend in close to see the lamp “like that lamp”
Just then, the rattle of a snake started to go off and the horse jumped in the air to get away from the sound of the snake. When this happened, he squeezed the trigger of his gun hitting Sofia in her Arm causing the professor to drop the lamp and grab hold of her.
The lamp shattered and started to smoke as if it was on fire. In the mist of the Flames still holding her bow with her Quiver still slug over her shoulder, in an instant both gunmen where dead and Marhiel than raced to the girl, looking at her wound.
She then placed her hands on the wound and said several strange words, which caused the wound to glow. The bullet came slowly out of the wound and the bleeding stopped, Marhiel then pulled some linen from a small bag on her hip and started to bind the wound carefully.
“Professor, glad to actually meet you, your Grand Daughter is out of danger but we must find a doctor, and I am not a genie, I’m an Elf, but that is a long story.”
The professor dumbly looked at the elf, and he then shock his head in agreement.
1963 Hamidon Wars
Helicopters were hovering and landing at the remains of a bombed out Airport. Picking up the survivors of what was once the Heroic city known as Paragon. Defending the Civilians battling impossible Creatures of the devouring Earth, A squad of Marines and group Super heroes where valiantly trying to hold off thousands of Devoured, Herders and other things. It Looked like they were about to collapse. The Monsters where going to Over run their position when, amongst the horde of Devouring Earth, a series of Napalm explosions started to burn off the Monstrous trees and other things. In the middle of the firestorm and the cause of it was a long Female in full military combat gear and several Rocket launchers, which seemed the source of the Napalm. While still launching rockets she walked carefully over to the embattled Marines and heroes. The Marines took this time to reload their weapons. As the female warrior approached you could tell she was an Elf even under her helmet and gear, she then spoke to the Lead Marine. “Sergeant, who is in charge here?” She asked The Man she was talking to pointed at the remains of a body near the marines, it was chewed, stung and completely unrecognizable. “Well I’m in charge now then,” she returned “Major Marhiel Martog of the Defense Intelligence Agency. We need to get the civilians Airborne as fast as possible and then get you out as well,” she looked at the heroes, “Well we need you to get airborne now as well, this position will be lost inside of ten minutes, anyone have a working radio?”
Early 2000s Nova Praetoria
“So is this the list” a woman at a big office desk sitting next to a window overlooking most of Nova Praetoria with unopened office file boxes says to an aid. “Yes Ma’am Praetor Tilman, this is the list of the best unassigned Special Operations soldiers left in the guard.” She looks through the list and grabs one of the files associated with the list, she looks like a child who jus found the cookie jar, “Really, an Elf!” she says to no one. Without saying a word, she commands the aid to summon the Elf.
2 hours later
An almost unhearable knock is sounded on Praetor Tillman’s office door. “Send the Elf in.” Praetor Tilman replied. Marhiel in a military uniform with the rank of Colonel walked in and saluted before she noticed that a teen was sitting at the desk. When she noticed she looked rather puzzled. “Your confusion is understandable” The teen replied, “I am Praetor Tilman and I am a Merged Psychic, do not let our body fool you we are the most powerful Psychic loyal to the Emperor, which is why I have requested you for my unit I am forming, on the behalf of Cole, I am creating a Psychic Division to help maintain the careful order of our world, but there are some in this world who will resist, because of this I need a specialist to track down evil doers who cannot be brought to justice and who have abilities that can render most unable to fight them, during your review it was found that you are psychically null most likely because you are an elf, for this reason and your hundred and fifty years of service to the United States and then to the Empire makes you one of the few qualified to do this Job. What do you think?” Marhiel was a bit taken back because she never even realized she was a ‘Null’ or even sure what that was. “I will do my duty for the protection of the civil population.” She responded with a salute.
2009 in the Abandon parts of the Praetoria subway system
A few members of the resistance where Guarding a door that lead to a security vault, they seemed to be really alert but this was for not because a shadow appeared in the middle of them and shot them all before they could respond, the shadow then moved silently and placed a bomb in front of a door and vanished. The door blew apart leaving no trace of the bodies or the metal door, the shadow then moved back to the door as if checking everything over, slowly the shadow then moved into the vault itself, as the shadow moved forward a woman in a harlequin out fit stood in front of the shadow. “Marhiel, you do not want to do this, you are a good person they have lied to you...” the Harlequin lady said as Marhiel shot it in the forehead and vanished as if she was never there. “Dam.” Marhiel said as she turned off the stealth field. Carefully Marhiel continued into the hidden lair of Vanessa DeVore “Well Vanessa, I’m coming for you in the name of Truth and Justice, and your mind tricks are meaningless to me.” Marhiel continued until she saw a large group of Vanessa DeVore all standing around, Marhiel then charged them shoot rapid fire from both pistols, though she never missed a single shot it seemed that for each Vanessa she ‘killed’ two more appeared. “Marhiel, we will keep this up for a while, I don’t want to hurt you but I want you to see the truth.” When this was said, Marhiel was flooded with Images of events that put Cole in power, of what Hamidon was, of what praetor Tilman did with her recruits and many other Images of what had happened and what is happening, Marhiel faltered and fell, not dropping her guns but holding them so she could cover hear ears with her hands. “How’s this possible” Marhiel stammered. “Your brain is not human and the brute for minds of most psychics can’t even see you, however I do things a bit differently and have much more skill in hearing the soul, I won’t hurt you, I wouldn’t, after all you’re like a rare jewel, and I want to actually help you.” Devores said as her clones melted away, she then walked to Marhiel and placed her hand on Marhiel’s shoulder, “Just look at what has happened I have not covered or changed these images this is the real truth, you who has always stood up to defend the weak and been fighting too hard to notice what has happened since Cole took over. After about an hour of seeing things in her mind Vanessa let Marhiel’s mind free, “Marhiel you’ll sleep here for some time, and if you have changed your mind and want to help the resistance then just do something to show your where your loyalties lay and we will contact you.”
August 2010 Resistance HQ
“Marhiel you’re too hot now but we have found a place for you to hide from the badgers I think you’re going to like it.” Calvin said to Marhiel, “seems, that we can go to a alternate universe which is completely opposite from this one, they like to call Primal Earth, it’s a bit arrogant I agree, but when you get there I think you’re going to like it, also it seems everyone is a polar opposite over there Cole is called statesman and he’s a good guy…go figure. Anyway it is likely you have an evil twin over there so you should take her out, it will help with the local badgers whom are fairly nice to civilians. Present day Paragon City, Primal Earth. Marhiel was walking down the street of Atlas city wearing Jeans and a western style shirt when she stopped in front of a Newspaper machine; she started to raise her hand, but then put a few coins in and took just one newspaper. The Headline Read “Angels Have Fallen, Kings Row Super group is wanted for Bank robberies and other acts of evil” Marhiel Chuckled and started thinking about the powers division she almost through away the paper when she noticed a line at the bottom. “…Mariel Martog of the Crüxshadow Corp. who is a retired Member of the ‘Guardian Angels’ stated for the record that she doesn’t believe the allegations and will work hard to restore the good name of her former team mates…” “So there is my evil twin, she was working as a hero; this is interesting so villains can hide as Heroes here after all, looks like I have worked to do” Marhiel thought to herself, tucking the paper under her arm as she walked to the train station.
