The sacred Legend of the Masamune
As told by Kenri Masamune
We all know the history of the Sushi as told by our ancestors, but today I tell you the story of Kenri the First the matron of our clan. When the first Ritual granting the first there gifts was held, Kenri the First was characteristically late. The ritual had already started by the time she arrived. After it was over she saw her sisters and cousins controlling fire and ice, drawing healing energies and controlling minds, she on the other hand could not. She wished a happy good by to her sisters and cousins as they spread out to spread justice to all of Japan. When she returned to Imari she went to a river near her home and cried. After a while she heard a voice that asked her “Why do you cry?”
She look around and saw no there so she cried some more. “Why do you cry?” The voice asks again.
That’s when Kenri realized it was the river that spoke. With a sniff she answered, “Well all my sisters got magic powers and all I can do is talk to rivers...” With a sigh the river replied “Poor girl you will have your power a great power that will light the darkest hour, but for now remove your robe and enter my waters and I will teach you to dance, and you will dance for your sisters and bring them hope in the dark times, and lead them in the happy times” so she entered into the waters and let her body sway in the river’s waters, and learned the rivers dance.
So she taught her daughters the dance and they taught theirs, and so it was for generations. The Masamune danced and raised the spirit of their fellow Sushi when they needed lifted and raised their sprits to new heights when it was time to celebrate, and as the generations passed the river moved tell it flowed around the temple of the Masamune.
All sushi are also told of a dark time in Sushi history when the great barbarian Nekoken was set to end the sushi line and fulfill the prophecy with his own hand, vowed to raise all of Nippon in his wake if he must. When the village saw his boat approaching Kyushu, they new they were next, Kenri called all the villagers together, and told them that they would be safe and that the other sushi would be there to save them if they just held the temple for a day. Then as she set her acolytes to preparing the temple and the villagers getting settled she snuck from town to river near her home and cried. After a while she heard a voice that asked her “Why do you cry?”
She look around and saw no there so she cried some more.
“Why do you cry?” The voice asks again.
That’s when Kenri realized it was the river that spoke. With a sniff she answered, “I cry because soon my line shall be wiped from this world, there will be no rescue for us. Tonight we dance to mourn our own deaths and tomorrow face our ancestors. It is said we would light the darkest hour but still it seems all we can do is talk to rivers...”
With a sigh the river replied “Now is not the time for tears and mourning but time to prepare.” With that the river banks swelled and recede to revile it was covered in weapons. “From the day I talked to your ancestor all that time ago I have saved all the weapons that have sunken into my depths. Now remove you robes and pick up a pair of weapons then step into my waters as your ancestors have and show me your dance” With out a hesitation she did as the river instructed and that was when she realized that the dance they had practiced for years have trained her body for combat and the moves them selves were actually a master fighting style with two blades. “So now young lady go to your Sushi and send them to my banks that they might learn as you did for tomorrow I will protect all who are in your temple as long as no Sushi remain in side” the river instructed.
So as it still is today all the Sushi went to the river to learn the way of the blades and when the sun set the next day the scourge of Nekoken had was over and the Least of the Sushi had become a force of might even though we never stopped dancing
