Personality
Cricket is a reluctant hero, having wanted nothing more out of life than to be an ordinary girl. Despite this not being the case, she does not hesitate to help others in need nor does she any longer flee from a crime scene after defeating the bad guys. To the casual observer, she seems distracted when engaged in super heroics, often lamenting that she'll be late for some planned activity, but she's managed to come to terms with her lot in life to the point where she can manage to smile --albeit with a roll of her eyes-- when trouble comes her way.

Powers
Cricket is a mutant born with phenomenal leg strength, enhanced agility, and very durable skin. These powers enable her to fight as well as a skilled martial artist even though she does not possess any formal combat training. Her skin, though seemingly normal, can withstand large caliber weapons fire without leaving more than a bruise though she is far from invulnerable. This physical protection even extends to her eyes which are shielded by a hard black outer layer that does not affect her vision at all.
Leaping
Her primary super power, Cricket is able to leap fantastic distances and land with no harm to herself as long as she lands on her feet.
Martial Arts
Cricket's unnatural leg strength translates well into combat, allowing her to deliver kicks of devastating potential. Even though she has no actual martial arts training, she is quite agile and quick, and even trained fighters have difficulty coping with her natural talent for melee.
Fitness
Though she doesn't appear to need to do so, Cricket maintains a regular fitness regimen of jogging, pilates, acrobatics, and swimming. She has --when too busy with school-- slacked off her routine, but it never affects her performance or health. Her mutant physiology keeps her in excellent shape.
Willpower
Cricket is a tenacious fighter which is surprising considering how much she dislikes getting involved in super heroics. In combat, her resolve combined with her acrobatic leaping, makes her a difficult target, and she is capable of blocking out physical pain of even the most debilitating attacks moments after being hit. Most opponents find her resilience somewhat demoralizing.
Character History
Cricket Jones was born a seemingly normal child. The first sign of her mutant nature presented itself when she was only four years old. Her body is outwardly resistant to all manner of damage, but it seems her eyes developed with an extra layer of protection. At first this layer was thin and completely transparent, but as she aged, it began to grow thicker and darker. By the time she was eight, her eyes appeared to be completely black --although this did not seem to hinder her vision in any noticeable way. Other children made fun of her, but her mother would always remind her that she was special... that maybe one day she would grow up to be a hero like Statesman. Of course, the teasing affected her deeply, and when her superhuman leg strength was revealed, Cricket resented being different all the more. She tried to lead a normal life, always wearing dark glasses to hide her deformity. Still, she is a good person at heart, and while on her way home from school she saw an elderly woman being mugged on the street, Cricket jumped to her defense. Two solid kicks incapacitated the attacker... police arrived to take him into custody but ended up sending him to the hospital. When asked if she was a registered super hero, panic overwhelmed Cricket and she leaped away... over three buildings and landing a block away.
It took some time and practice alone where no one would witness just how different she was, but Cricket learned just how powerful her legs were. By laying underneath and bracing herself, she could easily kick over a delivery truck. She could also jump across town in a series of leaps in half the time it would take for someone to fly. But most importantly, after getting between gang members and innocent civilians --again, she discovered that she was sort of bulletproof! Oh, the bullets would hurt and leave red marks on her skin, but she could be shot without worrying about the consequences. The realization sunk in... her mom would insist she wear a silly costume and go fight crime. The very idea made her sick to her stomach. All Cricket wanted was to be a normal girl, and she was determined to not fall into the lifestyle of a costumed super hero just because she was born different.
She continues trying to live her life as any other citizen of Paragon City would, though finds herself unwittingly drawn into battles time and again. Sometimes this occurs as a result of curious evil scientists and the occasional over-amorous super-villain, but usually its because her good nature won't allow her to stand idly by when others might be hurt. It took some time, but she came to accept being different and using her gifts to help others when need be, but she still strives to avoid that lifestyle by going to school and looking forward to a non-adventurous career in her future.
Genetics
It never occurred to Cricket in the past, but while discussing her mutant nature with one of her college professors, the topic of her father has come up. As her mother has no mutant genetics in her family history, its likely that Cricket's mutation comes from her father's side of the family. However, the question of her father has rarely come up and when it does, her mom takes a grim demeanor and states in no uncertain terms that she does not want to discuss... him! Checking her birth certificate and medical records have given no indication to whom he may be, and finding no trace of his identity just drives her crazy. She and some of her friends who are into super hero trivia have begun researching various potential candidates based on age, power similarities, and other genetic criteria in hopes of narrowing down the list in hopes of one day solving the mystery. Another possibility was recently suggested that absolutely boggled Cricket's imagination: perhaps her father wasn't a hero at all, but a villain!
