Miss Mephit is one of the Alpha's of the ASPCA but she also has been spotted with members of the The Zenvious Foundation.

Origin

It was a cold winter night in 1978 when in the Academic Hospital in Amsterdam when a code blue was called over the corridors. When the medical staff rushed towards one of the IC-units they thought they'd be prepared for anything, little did they know.

A young woman gave birth to something they could not describe right away. A young baby girl, but with odd ears and a tail. The main reason why she was brought to the ICU was because the baby was positioned feet first, and the doctors did not trust the scans they saw.

The early years

The first few years of the young girl were marked with extensive tests. There were rumours of other cases like this throughout the lands, but none of them were confirmed. She was the first documented case in the Netherlands and as it turned out that her DNA and features started to resemble those of a skunk, the doctors called her a Homo Sapien Mephit, but throughout the others she was simply dubbed the Mephit Girl, despite her parents insisting on calling her by her true name: Melissa.

Her first years she had a home-teacher, but after the media hype around her had faded away, her parents thought it would be best to send her to a normal school in order to let her adjust to the world around her. Since they couldn't keep her locked up forever. The first years went disastrous, she was often teased by the other kids and she never could make any friends. In order to cope with her problems she buried herself in books in an attempt to understand why and how she came to be. She learned about the people around her, and the history of countless people who were suppressed or killed because they were different. During one of her quests for knowledge of the human mind, the librarian of the National Archive of Amsterdam, one of her few friends, showed her a section that was kept off limits for the normal crowd. There was one book in there that caught her attention above all else: 'The Art Of Illusion', unfortunately the author's name could not be read any more. When she walked back to the librarian and asked her for permission to lend the book she was filled with joy that she, by matter of exception, could lend it for a few days, on the condition that she wouldn't tell anyone else.

When she came home with the book, she tried to hide it, she dodged questions by her mom about how her day was and she dashed upstairs to read in the book. She threw her backpack in the corder of her room and laid down on bed, and started flip the pages. She was so intrigued and focussed on the book that she did not notice her mother coming in with some soda for her.

When her mother asked her about the book she jumped up and after she calmed down she told her mother about the kind librarian and this book. Her mother smiled as only mothers could and convinced her to go back to the library next day with a little 'thank you' card to show her appreciation.

Next day after school she dashed to the library only to find a different librarian at the counter. When she asked for her friend, she was told nobody worked there with that description and they didn't know about any section that was off limits. And when she convinced her to go with her to that section, she felt awkward when she opened the door that lead to that section....she found herself staring in the broom closet.

Fortunately the new librarian took it lightly and she went home, slightly miffed. When she went into her room, her eyes brightened up when she saw the book was still there and she started to read. And because it was Friday, she wouldn't have to worry about school and she did read on throughout the night, when her mother turned off the light she continued with a flash light.

Weeks passed, and she started to do little experiments with illusion on the cat, by letting him chase a make-believe mouse.

Awakenings

Melissa's illusion skills grew with each passing year. At school things went quite fine, no incidents happened, because she managed to to blend in with the crowd, much to the surprise of her parents. Every time someone did try to tease her, they changed their mind for some reason and moved on.

The night before her graduation, Melissa was sitting together with her parents, talking about this and that when her mother suddenly smiles and hands over a cut out advertisement to her. As she looks at it her dad smiles at her and tells her they realised that her illusion powers were out of the ordinary. Melissa is startled by this all on which her mother laughs and tells her that no amount of illusions in the world could fool a mother.

So it was done, Melissa took the cut out advertisement and went to Rotterdam to what would be her future: An university that allowed her to research more on her illusion skills and at the same time she could embrace her other passions: history, psychology and art.

Her first day was chaotic as ever, being a freshman on the huge campus, she barely managed to get everything done in time. A feeling of relief washed over her as he realised a lot of odd people were walking the campus. It was already getting late when she found her dorm room and when she entered her room mate was already unpacking, she almost dropped her bags in the doorway as she was staring at a ferret, but not just any ferret, a huge ferret. When she turned around and started to fire a tsunami of questions, remarks and words on her Melissa just stood there. Unable to move. This went on for 10 minutes before the ferret stopped and poked her, wondering if her new room-mate could also speak, she tilted her head.

Melissa grabbed her bags and walked towards the empty bed and looked back at the ferret, apologizing for her behaviour as she was overrun by her presence on which the ferret laughed and sat besides her. She explained she did that to a lot of people and introduced her as Amanda DeVries, but people just called her Ferretgal. This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

The next day when people had to submit their courses Ferretgal wondered why Melissa didn't apply for radiation manipulation. Melissa acted a bit offended but after 15 minutes of convincing Ferretgal managed to get Melissa to give it a try. And during the years on the university, Melissa turned out to be a natural. And one day she walked around as a group of people approached her and complimented her with a small lecture she gave to freshmen for illusion classes. The conversation left her a bit startled when she realised she never actually had used her ability to make people ignore her during her time at the university. This, and the constant input of her room-mate caused her to finally find peace with her body and mind.

Arrival in Paragon

The years flew by and in her last year she read an announcement in the main hall. There would be an exchange with students from Paragon City, USA. Before she could finish reading the announcement, Ferretgal pounced her and squealed that they both would be allowed to go, on which she yelled out that she never even submitted a paper when it suddenly went quiet in the hall. Everyone was staring at Melissa, laying on the ground, with Ferretgal on top of her, grinning. Out of the crowd the headmaster appeared and smiles "We took the liberty of making it a surprise, since you both no doubt would make fine representatives".

Before she knew it she was staring out of a window of a ship, looking at the buildings of Talos Island strolling by. So this was the famous city that kept the supply line with England alive during the second world war. While she sunk in her own thoughts Ferretgal ran over the deck, squealing at that huge bull like statue and other huge buildings, the mere thought of so many new things to discover made her even more hyperactive than she was normally. When they reached main land they had to go to Atlas park where they would do some paperwork at the city hall. Within no time Ferretgal ran over to Melissa and introduced her to a tall tiger as Miss Mephit. And the rest is history.

Her involvements with The Zenvious Foundation

Relationsships

She was never very lucky when it comes down to relationships, in the past she has been spotted with Angel Cheetah and many seemed to have taken a liking for her. But nobody could cope with her chaotic schedule and very long days. If she is not doing her heroic duty, she is spotted opening stores, giving lectures or working on some project. There is really not much time for relationships in her life Currently Miss Mephit is spoken for. Her companion is Darcie Winter. Their relationship seems to mostly based on mutual respect and she doesn't mind her being away more often than not.

Powers

Illusions

As described in the story of her origin, she is quite skilled in deceiving and putting the enemy on the wrong foot. She is unable to do extreme amounts of damage, but her skills to frighten the enemy or make him fight invisible enemies is very handy. Despite some rumors that she can read minds, she is unable to do so. Not even a little. She flashes out an array of thoughts, and she almost literally smells their fear. Sometimes the enemy is not afraid of her images, but she tries again until she succeeds to plunge the enemy into the world of his deepest fears, battling his thoughts in the shape of white heroes.

Hyper-evolved glands

How embarrassing it might be for her to talk about it, her glands are a worthy foe. She rather avoids the subject when she sprays someone, even the toughest Arch-Villan gets significantly weakened. Her spray is that powerful, it is classified as radiation by the Freedom Phalanx.

Fire Mastery

When Miss Mephit was classified high enough to travel through dimensions, she realized that some knowledge about the Arcane would be handy. She studied hard for the Arch-Mage classification. Even though she only learned to cast 2 moderate fire bolts, she got the diploma shortly after she was awarded the title 'Hero of the City'

Known weaknesses

Mental powers

Because she always has to focus on signs of weaknesses from the enemy, she is often opening her own mind for assault, leaving her vulnerable for stuns, mezmerizing powers and whatnot.

Frail

Even though Miss Mephit has much more buff than the average controller. She is still frail.
