History
Madeline Mongo was born a seemingly normal girl, from the Great White North, and had a pleasant childhood. However when puberty hit, things became... 'different' (as often happens with many mutants, though she did not know that she was one until that time). Her family never told her the secrets of her origin, as they had managed to hide their own differences and powers. Madeline could not, and refused to try to hide who she was, thinking the idea of doing so was dishonest. She found herself with abilities to call forth the dead, and give power and life to those in need. She liked her abilities, and wanted to use them for something more than was possible in her little town.
This prompted many a scientist and research to seek her out and find reason for her abilities, and her 'unhealthy' obsession with both life, and death. They wanted to use her abilities to help the world, but the people were not ready for her. In the panic and publicity that followed their 'research', Madeline was horrendously attacked by local citizens, who severely damaged her eye.
Seeking solitude, protection, and dignity, she fled her hometown, traveling only by night to avoid any followers. She had started to rethink her choices, and wanted to hide, or at least, wanted to become 'normal' and fit in again. With the her friend Milo Monsoon, she found her way to Paragon City, a grand place overflowing with people of all sorts of different abilities and origins. This is where she belonged. Finding herself amongst other mutants, magicians, and scientific 'mishaps' in Paragon City, she learned the world was in dire need of help from everyone of heroic nature, not just 'normal' folks. She honed her abilities to benefit her allies, and has even come to enjoy spending time with fellow heroes, especially those bearing cookies or donuts (comfort foods she discovered during her time on the road).
She now finds a balance between the underworld and the healing world, and combines both with a fine hand, and a strong heart.
Friends
While in the research facilities of her early years, Madeline Mongo met a young man named Milo Monsoon. He was an intern at the facility and the two of them became fast friends. Milo was determined to protect Madeline, and was horrified at the things that happened to her at the hands of the general public. He helped her escape the town, and found ways to pass messages to her during her moonlit travels, to guide her to Paragon City where she would be welcome. While they are unable to fight together in public, Madeline 'Moonlit' Mongo, and Milo 'Mockery' Monsoon keep a close friendship behind the watchful eyes of those who might persecute them for remaining in contact.
