Character Origin
Our story begins on a clear night in Atlas Park. The moon is full, heroes gracefully soar in the skies. Though the city sleeps safely, one of it's citizens lay in an alley, slowly bleeding to death. How this came to be, only she can tell. When all hope seemed to slip away, the girl of 19 was visited by a stranger. This stranger though, did not feel like a stranger. The weak girl rolled her head to gaze upon her. The stranger, a woman, began to walk towards the dying girl on the street. Turning her hands face up, the woman stopped a few inches from our heroine. A soft ball of light began to glow between her hands as the stranger finally spoke.
"I am Artemis." The deity told the girl. "For each generation of man, there has always been a chosen one. One of nobility and selflessness to carry inside them the knowledge and power of my light. Your time has come. Your life does not end tonight fair girl. Instead, you will become one with the other chosen before you. Share their insight, their bravery as if it were your own. Be swift in bringing those who need it to justice. You have been chosen my dear. You are my weapon. You are my hunter. You are Moonscape!"
The light was soothing to the young girl, who was thinking of this as nothing but a hallucination. With her last ounce of strength, the girl leaned up off the ground and reached out towards the light, hoping to find peace on the other side. This was not the case. Once the light was touched, the alley lit up in a vibrant flash and 'Artemis' disappeared. Within that split second, Moonscape's mind began to flood with thoughts, emotions, events all from those who were chosen before her. Their training and ability to harness the light was quickly tought to her. Wounds healed, her body rejuvenated.
Standing up, she brushed herself off. Glancing up at the moon, she basked in its light, as if connecting to it on some level. Worried her parents might start to worry, she began her journey home. Though the events of this evening would never reach her parents' ears.
Character History
The Khelidan
The Kheldian first appeared on Earth around 1600 B.C. in ancient Greece. It fused with a young farmboy who thought the light energy was a gift from the goddess Artemis. Overwhelmed with joy, the farmboy travelled to the Temple of Artemis to give praise and thanks. When the deity heard the farmboy's words, she quickly took advantage of the situation. Keeping an ever watchful eye on him, she watched as the Kheldian and human grew closer and closer. Soon, the boy was harnessing the light and wielding it as a powerful weapon. It was time.
Impressed at the Peacebringer, Artemis began testing the boy's limitations. Throwing him into battle against men, animals, monsters she did. Until one fateful day the boy lost to one of Hades' beasts. Before the Kheldian could find another suitable host, Artemis was quick to bring him to her side until she deemed another worthy. This went on for decades. Each vessel put up against endless challenges, only to die and have the Kheldian pass on to its next vessel. Each time, taking with him the knowledge of his previous hosts. Decades slowly turned to centuries as Artemis began molding her perfect hunter. This did not go unnoticed by the other Gods and Goddesses. Some grew envious of Artemis' weapon. Some, like her father Zeus, were proud to see her succeed.
Once Artemis knew every limitation of her hunter, she would take the time to carefully chose the next vessel for the Kheldian. This process has been honored over the years and into modern times as Artemis lets her hunter bring those to justice under the light of the moon.
The Girl
(Spoiler Alert: Below is a brief history of events that is not public knowledge.)
Born and raised in a small apartment in New York City, Moonscape grew up in poverty. This did not stop her from doing well in school and planning on going to college. During her junior year in high school, Moonscape's father recieved a promotion at his work. This meant a relocation to Atlas Park region of Paragon City. With the family so strapped for cash, they all agreed that it would be best and headed to Atlas.
It was there, in Atlas Park, that brought the encounter between Moonscape and Artemis about. But that was only the begining. The Void Hunters, a Kheldian hunting branch of the Council army, were following a lead about potential Peacebringer sighting. This lead them to Moonscape's apartment where her and her parents lived. She wasn't home.
When she did come home, the building was on fire. Eye witnesses reported bright purple explosions coming from Moonscape's apartment. Her parents were not to be found. It was at that point, Moonscape embraced her Kheldian powers and used the training of previous 'chosen ones' to track down the Void Hunters that broke into her apartment and murdered her parents. Confronted with her parents' killers, she ruthlessly beat them without remorse.
She brought them to the edge of death, but knew if she crossed that line, she would be no better than them. It was there she made a promise to herself that she would use her abilities, but never to kill. Over the next few weeks, she spent moving in with her aunt, who happened to be in Steel Canyon. Once she was settled in, she was visited by Artemis who brought warning about the angered deities wanting Moonscape, more specifically, the Kheldian dead.
Sneaking onto Mount Olympus, Moonscape was seperated from her Kheldian essence as it was placed into 7 golden pieces of armor. Each piece was enchanted by different deities that supported Artemis and Moonscape. One would think that with Gods and Goddesses protecting her, Moonscape would be open about her powers. This could not be futher from the truth. To keep the rest of her friends and family safe from Void Hunters and other villainous gangs, she keeps both lives totally seperate. No one knows who Moonscape is, and she intends to keep it that way.

Gifts of the Gods
With sides taken on Artemis' little 'project,' Moonscape would soon realize she had allies and enemies within the Greek Gods and Goddesses. Artemis, in fear that Hera might have actually found a way to steal her Kheldian, decided it was time for drastic measures. Calling Moonscape to her side, Artemis brought Moonscape to Hephaestus' champer. There, over the next grueling hours, Moonscape's Kheldian energy was transfered into pieces of armor, 7 pieces to be exact. This left Moonscape's human half weakened and tired until the armor was put on, and her power restored.
After Hephaestus and Artemis fused the Kheldian energy into the pieces of armor, Artemis took them to those who supported her in this cause for blessings. Each God or Goddess would enchant a piece of armor to help insure that Hera could never full take control of the Kheldian energy. Hermes enchated the sandals to give Moonscape the speed of a God. Hephaestus enchanted the chestplate to protect her against man's weapons. Hades enchated the bracelets so Moonscape's body and soul could not be harmed by flames of Earth or of the Underworld. Apollo enchanted the belt to give her the strength far beyond that of mortal men. Finally, Zeus enchanted her helmet so that Moonscape's power was an extension of her willpower and determination, able to increase incredibly in times of need. Once all 7 pieces are put on, and Moonscape's Kheldian energy is restored, she is transformed into the valiant hunter Artemis has trained over thousands of years. This does not come without its side effects though.
Weaknesses
Moonscape is mortal, just like the majority of heroes in Paragon City. She can be killed. It is only harder to accomplish this when she has all 7 pieces of her armor on and the Kheldian essence flows freely through her. Without it, she cannot recall any of the previous chosen ones' memory or training, rendering her helpless to defend herself.
Also, most psychics can easily detect a strong rage within her. If the psychic is strong enough, they can see that it is towards the murderers of her parents, who she'll never see again. This is a very sensative subject to Moonscape. It can either send her into a violent rage or crumble her to pieces depending how the situation is handled.

Mortals
Gwen Reaper: Artemis has her hunter. Proud, but somewhat envious, Hades attempted to create his own warrior. Bestowing the darkest soul he could find with the power to manipulate the dead, Gwen Reaper was born. Artemis, amused by Hades creation, manipulated events so that Gwen Reaper and Moonscape faced off on numerous occassions. Each time the two have met, it's shown different results and no true victor has been proclaimed. Both Moonscape and Gwen Reaper are unaware that they are being manipulated by Artemis and Hades to engage in combat.
Immortals
Hera She has always hated the children Zues fathered if they were not her own. Always going out of her way to cast a spell of sorts to make sure his childrens' lives were ruined. When Hera caught wind of Artemis' new hunter, she was immediately angered and vowed to destroy the creature at all costs. For centuries Hera has succeeded in destroying the vessel of the hunter, but never the Kheldian essence. Today is no different. Artemis, in an attempt to detour Hera, split the Kheldian essence into 7 pieces of armor, each piece enchanted with the protection of Artemis' fellow Gods and Goddesses. This is her latest attempt of many to try and make her hunter stronger against her vengeful step-mother Hera.
