Belmont Legacy
Dracula
For centuries the Belmont clan has been tasked with destroying the dark lord of the vampires. The most famous of these Belmont's was Nicholas' great great grandfather Simon Belmont. For decades Simon and Dracula would wage a war upon one another. The dark lord often times goading Simon into coming after him. Time and time again Simon though he had the dark lord defeated only to have him show up years later. When Simon passed on do to old age, he passed his legacy down to his son, who in turned passed it on to his child and so forth. Eventually the Belmont clan's numbers began to thin out until all that was left was Abigail Belmont, Nicholas' mother.
Abigail Belmont
Eventually the Belmont clan expanded the creatures they hunted to include werwolves, zombies and other various nightmare creatures. This was no different for Abigail, she eventually took on a partner in the form of Caleb Hawkins, the hero known as War Mystic. Caleb was in Romania under orders of the mystic council when he met up with Abigail. Abigail herself having minor mystical abilities that she used in her monster hunting. The two formed a friendship and it was with Caleb's help that Abigail discovered the Nightmare Realm.
For years hunters wondered why the beasts and creature they had slain always seemed to turn up once more, and it was found to be because of this Nightmare Realm. On one such journey into this realm, Abigail met a young knight who was also under constant battle with the vampires. Joining together they had many battles and quests in this new world. Now Abigail had a partner in the real world in Caleb, and in the Nightmare Realm with the white knight.
The knight himself was eventually slain, and shortly after Abigail found that she was pregnant with his child. Having herself both hurt emotionally and in failing health do to the pregnancy, Caleb took her to his home, the Tower of Serratus. It was there that he cared for his long time friend, helping her through the child birth of her son, Nicholas. Abigail quickly found her way back into the hunting ways, seeming even more determined now that her love had been slain by the very dark lord of the Nightmare Realm. Around this time vampire attacks upon Romania began to escalate, and Abigail begged Caleb to take her son with him to America. The minions of the dark lord did not know of his existence yet, and she knew that he would be hunted unless she snuck him off before anyone knew. Caleb said he would quickly return, and begged her to hold out until he did. Mere moments passed as Caleb whisked the young child to his tower, and returned to Romania only to find Abigail slain and dying. She asked Caleb to be guardian over her son, and gave him a pendant to give to Nicholas upon his 18th birthday. Abigail died in Caleb's arms.
