Mr. Bradshaw

Mr. Bradshaw is on of my earliest characters. He was made early enough I didn't have a good grasp on the CoH lore. The thought behind Mr. Bradshaw was inspired by the image of a Pulp Adventurer in a jungle, having found a pack velicoraptors with his traveling companions, and rather then running, or getting cover and shooting the things, he just stands there, waits for one of them to charge and slugs it! That made me happy, so Mr. Bradshaw was made. I have to admit that his roots as a pulp adventurer are in a territory that I have only a shallow understanding of. I know a lot of the modern interpretations, but have little knowledge of the roots of the genre.

Personality

Mr. Bradshaw is an overbearing optimist with a penchant for thrills and adventure. He does not like sitting around when he knows that there's something he could be doing. This, plus a small fortune, lead to his becoming a world adventurer. He doesn't give up and will encourage everyone around him to do the same. He genuinely believes that if he tries, he will overcome.

Resources

Mr. Bradshaw is a very rich individual. Due to a prolonged disappearance, in which he was presumed dead, he commands much less wealth and resources then he used to, but can still provide fairly generous funding to his endeavors.

Mr. Bradshaw is in the process of requiring a fleet of vehicles and permanent residence with which to resume his adventuring career, although the events of Paragon City are quite distracting. His true disappointment is that getting a dirigible seems beyond his current resources.

Super Powers

Mr. Bradshaw was surprised to find out he is a mutant. While it might seem obvious in retrospect, back in his heyday, he was considered to just be a very tough and skilled individual, blessed with an unnatural luck. Not knowing of his apparent invulnerability to things like bullets, he would take cover like everyone else and his physical strength and resilience made him hard to capture.

Many people, including himself, probably ignored anything that would change their image of Mr. Bradshaw, allowing these perceptions to largely flourish among most people. Given that a number of his old traveling companions are dead, it is nearly impossible to learn if they know Bradshaw was more then human.

Abilities

Bradshaw has a wide array of skills acquired from training and adventuring. While not a thinker, he is a smart person and learns fairly quickly. He often takes interest in things long enough to make sure he's competent at dealing with them and hates facing situations that he can't do anything about.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Bradshaw has few physical weaknesses. The biggest, as you might have guessed, is that he needs to breathe. He is vulnerable to aerosol's, although unlikely to die from the more deadly toxins one might get into him that way. He is resistant to standard doses.

Aside form that, he is typically predictable. He'll rush into situations to save people, put himself at risk to stall enemies and take bombs and run with them to keep them from doing serious damage. He is a shade of Stupid Good.

History

The Adventures

Mr. Alexander Bradshaw's history is tied up in his adventures. A lot of these are well documented and a matter of history. He traveled with a large number of people and saw much of the world. He funded many an archeological expedition that he himself attended and ran into plenty of villains and foils.

Lost in time

Towards the end of the 50's, Bradshaw outright disappeared from an expedition in the African jungle. It didn't even become a major news event. After a while, inquiries were sent and there were headlines, but it didn't last as no one could figure out where the expedition was even supposed to be initially. The entire expedition never turned up and Mr. Bradshaw faded from the media attention and became regulated to history.

Much to the surprise of everyone, he was discovered recently in an African Village. He seemed despondent and blank. He was taken to Paragon City and treated by the best doctors in the city.

After he came to, he related a story of uncovering a true horror. An ancient city buried underground with living inhabitants. They came to speak with Bradshaw's expedition and seemed approachable. That night, they attacked. They drugged everyone, Mr. Bradshaw included.

Bradshaw came to tied up over a sacrificial pit. He was still groggy from the drugs and while he was gather his wits, he was cut. A knife slid down his chest and his blood poured to the ground below. The world shifted then. <Lazy cut off point. History will be finished later.>
