Mu'Bahkeeth
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
After thousands of years of history, the Mu now number in the millions. An originally strong and driven bloodline has been diluted and weakened to the point of being little more than a punch line to many. So many with mere drops of Mu blood flowing through them are nothing but cannon fodder within Arachnos, and easy prey for the Circle of Thorns. For as many that can barely count as Mu, there are many with a stronger heritage, Guardians amongst the Arachnos ranks, their masters of the arcane. These are the believers, those that follow Hequat and Her teachings
However, for all of the Mu still alive, there are only a handful of true blooded believers that have survived. Over thousands of years, they have remained true to the selective breeding, the eugenics that once defined them, and for each new generation from these families, their strength and power increases, the learning and teachings from generations before passed on to the new blood. These purebloods have been raised and conditioned to worship their Goddess, to be devout and zealous believers. Her will is law and unquestionable, and through their lives, they have been conditioned to think of Her above all else.
Mu’Bahkar was raised as such. Love and compassion were second to strength and discipline. He was raised to be a follower of Hequat, a pureblooded and noble Mu, and unlike many children, he never rebelled against the teachings and rules of his parents. As he grew older, he continued to follow along the path set before him, never questioning his purpose or role in life, following along the destiny that he was given. When he was of proper age, his parents, along with other Mu that had remained close, began to train him in their ancient arts. Revealing the secrets of the Mu magic is a long and complex process. Hours spent reading through dusty tomes, sacrificial offerings too horrific to discuss, and traversing alternate planes of existence, simply to unlock the secrets of their blood.
Once the initial training had been completed, he did as was customary of his kind in this time and joined the ranks of Arachnos. Due to the potency of his magic, derived from his pureblood, Mu’Bahkar was immediately placed within the guardian ranks, an arcane advisor to other ranking members within the regime. Life was good for him at this point. He was, essentially, living the life expected of him as a Mu. Powerful, bound, and ready to serve his goddess’ every whim. Until she gave a command, however, he was free to live life as any other soldier, growing close to the members of his squad, performing various missions for Arachnos and Recluse, but never once forgetting his true purpose. Not as an Arachnos soldier, but as a Mu.
However, nothing can last forever, as they say. His so called perfect life within Arachnos was no different, and after years of service, it would all evaporate into the air in a single night. During the night, his true destiny was unveiled to him and a single, albeit prophetic dream brought it all crashing down. His life had always held purpose, but now that purpose had been changed. A dream supposedly from the Goddess Herself.
What exactly this dream entailed, along with his following actions are closely guarded secrets, with only the Mu nation knowing the details. That being said, the general consensus seems to be one of great skepticism, but feeling that he had only the intentions of the Goddess in mind, they were lenient. Mu’Bahkar was to be banished, exiled from the Mu nation. No longer befitting his old name, they gave him a new one, one to reflect his disgrace and exile. They named him Mu’Bahkeeth, and then they cast him out.
With no home, no family, and very few connections left, the once proud Mu was stranded. Fortunately, within Arachnos intelligence, there were rumors of a Mansion, tucked away in the forest of Nerva, that offered shelter and protection to magical creatures that had been cast out and found themselves in need of sanctuary. After all She had put him through, the Goddess had given him direction once more, leading him to the doorstep of the Shadow Mansion, his new home.
At first, this was a questionable arrangement. Pregnancies seemed to abound, and the residents would act as if they were still in high school, but he soon realized this was only the way of a select few, and that in times of trouble, they could be quite impressive, even to the point of fending off a mystical army of the undead. With most of his issues dispelled, he slowly began to realize he had found his new home, and over time, learned to enjoy the Mansion, and appreciate all that they did for people, even offering to help those that would soon join as well. Now, he lives within the walls, assisting with security procedures, utilizing his heritage and his training for the protection of others. He’d gone from a mere resident, to another among the list of helpers and protectors.
