Nikki Star
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
Overview
Nikki Star was a sharpshooter before being recruited by the PPD. Though not originally recruited by the Powers Division, Praetor White took notice that there was something different about her, and asked if she'd be willing to submit to some studies. It was determined that she actually possessed the ability to inflict or heal pain. Tracing her lineage, they discovered that her great grandfather was actually a hero with extraordinary powers, and that power had filtered down through her bloodline unrecognized to her. Now working in the Powers Division of PPD, she lends her healing powers along with her unparalleled shooting skill to keep order. Though faithful to her city, she has been known to have a bit of a wild streak, and getting on her bad side is not a good idea.
Early Years
Nicole Marie Star was born in the city of Austin Texas. Shortly after she was born, her great-grandfather, William Star passed away. Knowing it was always his dream, he left his ranch to Nikki's father, so the family moved just outside Fort Worth and took over the Star Ranch. Nikki loved the ranch, and her father had her on a horse just about as soon as she could walk, and taught her to shoot not long after. She was a natural, and by age 8 her father had her in horse riding lessons, and target shooting. She excelled rapidly, and a few years later, he entered her in her first junior rodeo. She won the sharpshooting competition, but took 3rd place overall, and was crushed. Her father told her that was great, but she was determined to be the best. She spent so much time practicing and training that some of her family was actually getting a little concerned. But her hard work paid off, and the following year she took the title of grand champion. She also caught the attention of one of the top riding circuits in the country, who took her in as a trick rider. She amazed audiences everywhere she went with her riding and shooting skills.
Early Adulthood
Though she loved exhibition riding, Nikki later got back into competition also, quickly becoming a top contender in her 2 specialties, trick riding and sharp shooting. When she was 17, she met a rising star of the rodeo circuit, a young man by the name of Charles, or 'Chuck' White. They developed a relationship, and eventually started riding tandem, putting on rodeo shows, and wowing audiences all over. Nikki was fine with this lifestyle, but Chuck still had the desire to compete. While Nikki focused on trick riding and sharpshooting, Chuck began focusing more on perfecting his bull riding, which was his strongest point. He took the circuit by storm, easily maintaining first place througought the season, all the way to the National Championship, with Nikki beside him cheering him on every step of the way. But when the names were drawn at Nationals as to what bull he would ride, Nikki turned pale as "Devil's Pride" was read...(to be continued)
