Personality
Liz is a kind, gentle, fun, quirky and enthusiastic person with a talent for inappropriate or provocative statements, to which she protests, and claims complete innocence and nievity.
Because she spent so much of her childhood in sickness, in adulthood she is determined to take life by the horns and live every moment to its fullest.
History
Liz was a very sickly child who suffered from an acute and mutated form of Goodpasture's syndrome. She was often the target of local bullies or those wishing to prove themselves to their friends... for Liz was all but defenseless, barely able to lift her school bag let alone fight back.
When she was seven, her parents tragically died in a traffic collision with a drunken motorist, and Liz and her infant Sister were placed into foster care.
At the age of eight, one day when walking home from school. Liz was jumped by a school gang of local hoodlums. Cornered, they pushed and pulled, beat and teased her. As she lay in the alleyway, sobbing and weeping, the crowd violently parted and a hand reached down to help her up. She took the hand looked upon the face of her savior, it belonged to another little girl, hair as blonde as her own, and the leader of the little gang lay upon the floor, clutching his nose in a pool of red.
"From this day forth, none of you shall lay a hand on her, or you have me to answer to, understood?" and from that day forth, no harm ever came to Liz again. Rose stood at her side, her faithful protector, her friend, her hero!
When Liz reached the age of Fourteen, she was offered the chance to enter into the trial studies of an experimental new drug from Crey Pharmaceuticals, that was supposed to alleviate the symptoms for those suffering from various auto immune diseases. However the drug had a rather strange effect in Liz, coupled with a family gene long thought dormant, her body began to mutate.
Her body began to mend and repair itself, not only curing her disease but rewriting her own genetic structure to the peak of human physical fitness, but it did not stop there. She found that she could also project this healing light outwards, letting her cure others of sickness, disease and harm. These powers also had a darker side to them, for she found that she could also turn her own emotions against others, forcing them to feel a thousand fold, what she experienced in her youth.
Weaknesses and Limitations
- While often times willfully independent, Liz is very easily bullied and intimidated. She also tends to think the best of people, thus is easy to subvert and is prone to deception.
- Physically Liz is all too human, and although she heal any wound she or others may sustain, she can and will still whine and complain about a paper cut.
Origin
Subject 261 has been chosen from a pool of 300 potential candidates. Their unique physiology has made them the prime choice as the subject descends from a line of generational mutation yet they themselves have not inherit the active gene. This genetic "runt" if you will, has been a victim of genetics rather than a benefactor and the subjects compromised immune system has allowed for physical degeneration to the point of terminal illness.
As with most terminal cases the parents were more than happy to sign any document set before them, hope no matter how slim is a powerful leverage. Dr. Kesey joked that they were so eager to get their daughter into the Program, that they did not even read the consent forms before signing.
If only all parents were as willing, then perhaps it would not have taken 17 years for my research to reach this point.
Should Project Sleeping Beauty succeed (and it will) then we fully intend to exercise clause 34b:
"At our sole discretion, Crey Industries may claim legal guardianship should the subjects awakened powers be deemed a threat to themselves or others."
All preparations have been made, documents have been signed and legal has given us the green light.
With the subjects weakened physical condition our work load has been cut in half and we can happily move beyond the point where we have lost so many others. I can still hear the screams of Patient Delta in my dreams. May that technician rot in hell for the harm they did to that poor child and the damage they did to my project! Thank god for Dr. Grassian pulling strings to get us one last chance or the board would have closed us down for sure.
First Phase: We must destroy so that we may rebuild. Through the use of sleep and sensory deprivation, combined with quinuclidinyl benzilate we shall break down the subjects psyche to be in line with their physical condition, forcing the subject into a state of depersonalization and derealization. Void in any sense of awareness in reality or self, they shall be far more susceptible to future suggestion and conditioning.
Second Phase: Taking over where nature has failed, we shall jump start the mutation process. This process will be painful and we cannot risk the use of anesthesia or any other medication for fear that it shall interfere negatively with the mutagen cascade.
Estimated chance for survival: 34%
Third Phase: Should the subject survive the second phase, a secondary mutation will be triggered using the initial mutation as a guide wire. The Secondary mutation if successful will trigger a psychic awakening and adoption of the implanted personality.
Estimated chance of success: 71%
Note: We have never made it this far, however theoretical simulations suggest that if the body accepts the first mutation, it shall be far more accepting of the second. If all goes according to plan we should all soon be very, very rich men.
The young girl stood at the entrance to the hospital, her Sister Psyche lunch box in one hand stuffed with all the material possessions that brought her comfort including the teddy bear that her best friend had given her to keep her company during this stay while she could not. Its little paw sticking out of the side, having been wedged in last with the plastic clasps threatening to burst and spill their contents. The other hand was held tightly to her fathers finger, being all that her tiny fist could hold.
"Now Elizabeth, you be a good girl. We love you so very much" her mothers lips kissed her forehead before the frail wisp of a girl was almost crushed by her parents embrace.
A warm voice cut through the smothering "You must be Mister and Misses White, Elizabeths Parents. "I am Nurse Evans" the young woman said as she extended her hand to the frightened pale faced girl "And you must be Lizzy, we have heard so much about you, We are going to make you all better, why don't we go meet the other Doctors and Nurses while your parents sign you in? All of the us have very much been looking forward to your visit!"
Trivia
