Softball wasn't really my thing, I just didn't see the point; But I did love the ice cream my dad and I always got after practice. I was six, what can I say, ice cream is the way to a girls heart. One day, we were practicing throwing the ball back and forth to each other. My dad yelled some apparently important advice, I looked to figure out what he's talking about and just when I did, someone screamed, "LOOKOUT!"
Too late... The ball hit me square in the head, hard. I lost my balance and fail backwards, everyone rushed forward. To their surprise I was unharmed. I picked up the ball and screamed "Why don't you look where you're throwing that thing, okay!?!" as I threw the ball back. But the ball didn't hit her in the head, it didn't land in her glove, it didn't land on the ground in front of her. Where did the ball go? It flew over the top of her. It flew and flew, it nearly made it out of the field before it landed.
They didn't understand it then, but this was the first time my parents knew something wasn't right with me. They had their suspicions before, but watching their six year old girl throw a baseball like Nolan Ryan turned their suspicions into legitimate fears.

When a gun is fired, the bullet is pushed forward, the bolt is pushed backwards into the buffer spring. The buffer spring slows the bolt to a stop and then pushes it back into place. My body is like the spring. Except unlike the spring, I simply retain the energy. It comes naturally to use this energy for protection; But if I focus, I can use this stored energy in other ways.
