Civilian Life

Sarah grew up as the only child of a single father, an auto mechanic who owned his own garage in King's Row. Sarah spent alot of time at the garage under her father's watchful eye, while he was working. He had a deep love for working on machines, a trait he and Sarah would come to share.

Although most of their income came from automotive repairs, the real purpose of the garage, Paragon Pieces, was for Heroes to get equipment repaired when they didn't have enough time or knowledge to perform their own. A few just rented garage space for their gear, preferring to do their own work but lacking the equipment to do so on their own.

Like her father, Sarah had an uncanny knack for this kind of work, identifying the patterns of the machinary and isolating the faulty components. Not content with this, Sarah engaged in a great deal of independant study, seeking to grasp the reasons for some of the technology she was working with. Although a few concepts were beyond her, Sarah became quite fluent in technical matters, and began spending her spare time designing and building small projects, toys, and other things to test her growing expertise.

Her father eventually passed away, leaving Sarah as the owner of Paragon Pieces. She continued running the business the way it always had been run, but things have a way of changing...

Pests!

With it's location in King's Row, and an abundance of mechanical equipment, Paragon Pieces was subject to periodic incursions by the metal scavenging Clockwork. Evicting them from the premises was usually a simple matter, and the periodic presence of one of the heroic clients helped with the more difficult invasions.

During one of Sarah's routine pest control activities, however, the Clockwork had attempted to remove pieces of great structural importance to the building. The garage collapsed, trapping Sarah within until one of her clients arrived.

Although the rescue had occured in time to save her life, it was not without costs. Both of Sarah's arms, as well as one of her legs, had to be amputated. Although she was outfitted with prosthetics, she realized that she could develop artificial limbs more suited to her needs than a piece of mass-produced, generic equipment could ever be. She soon became very comfortable with her new hands, and found that being able make modifications to them as she wished was much more convenient than having 'real' hands.

Sarah may not have originally considered becoming a hero, but as her comfort with the artificial limbs grew, so too did her ideas for further modifications. What started out as an attempt at self defense eventually led to construction of a complete combat suit, and an application for a Hero ID, to test it.

Not only was the test successful, but Omni Shock, as she called herself while patrolling, found that the hero activities were rewarding, and felt that she could do more good as an active hero, instead of just patching other heroes' equipment back together.

Further Details

Powers

The arms Omni Shock uses for combat are capable of delivering electrical blasts that range from 'barely noticeable' to 'potentially lethal'. Her suit also allows her to fly by manipulating the suit's polarity as well as that of the surrounding area.

Abilities

Omni Shock is familiar with most common technology, and has experience with some unusual technology as well. When facing something that she isn't familiar with, she can usually grasp the general intent of it's design with a little study. Her technological expertise is sufficient to allow her to repair, modify, or reverse-engineer almost anything she understands the workings of.

Omni Shock's headgear provides her with tactical information and communication options, as well as allowing her to access her personal information database, which includes a very detailed description of most forms of technology that she has already encountered.

Limitations

Omni Shock depends a great deal on her cybernetic limbs. Without them she is more helpless than the average civilian.

Although she can work on equipment without fully understanding it, she is very uncomfortable doing so, and will often hesitate until she has sorted out all of the associated mysteries, even when they do not neccesarily affect her current task.

Omni Shock can very seldom perform field repairs or modifications, depending heavily on equipment that is inconvenient to carry.

Although she is currently unaware of it, Omni Shock is susceptible to 'Mad Scientist Disorder'. Under certain conditions, she may experience such symptoms as loss of common sense and exagerated hubris. Her mechanical ability also improves, allowing her to make 'impossible' modifications or inventions without thinking about what she is doing.

Other

Omni Shock has a couple of different sets of prosthetics. One of them has only limited combat ability and was designed to facilitate equipment repair.

For a time, Omni Shock was very bitter and dealt harshly with any Clockwork she encountered. While she has calmed down somewhat, an unexpected Clockwork encounter could spook her.

Omni Shock still owns the plot her father's garage was built on. Heroing duties have left her with very little time to get it restored, unfortunately.
