From Kahiki came the goddess, Pele, From the land of Pola-pola, From the red cloud of Kane, Cloud blazing in the heavens, Fiery cloud-pile in Kahiki
To Kauai, lifted in ether, A floating flower at sea of Wailua-- That way Pele turns her gaze, She's bidding adieu to Oahu, Loved land of new wine of the palm.
Character Background
Pele was born in Monua Mea in Tahiti and endowed as all Immortals with Divine Power. She was exiled from her home after engaging in some fierce fighting with her siblings, especially Na-maka-o-kaha'i, and was so troublesome that her Father decided that she needed to learn to control her temper and her powers since she tended to destroy the works of the other Gods and Goddesses in fits of rage when upset. Knowing better to unlease her on the mortal world with her full powers, however, her father reduced them in effect until she should be able to calmly control her temper. Her reward was getting more of her power back as she showed more restraint.
She was having a hard time of it until she met the Angry Angels who took her under their wings to help her learn to control her explosive nature and master her powers. She has made great progress but is still what most might call a "hot-head", but don't tell her that, nothing provokes a rage in her faster than being told she has a temper.
