Personality

Pestis is very carefree, for a person who can't remember most of his life. However, since it has been about six months since the incident and no "flashbacks" have occurred yet, he's since come to terms with his condition. For an eighteen-year-old, he also has an unbelievably polite and precise way of speaking, as each syllable seems to be enunciated perfectly. In fact, almost everything he does seems to be as polite and courteous as possible (when not removing those in his way, that is). It is almost as if he were born in a much earlier, more "civilized" age. Once he enters into combat, he generally fights very defensively. However, this is not to say that he is against killing. He views each and every being that stands in his way as marked, but will only resort to murder if they make a move to provoke his ire. Pestis considers himself a villain, only because he has been labelled as such.

Eeny and Meeny

Pestis' digestive tract consists of a pair of sentient leeches, who are able to manifest various superpowers. One of the leeches, named Meeny, is able to generate a "bio-fire" which has a similar genetic make-up to a cross between stomach acid and sulfuric acid. This "bio-fire" can eat through almost anything, though it tends not to have any effect on stone and select metals. The other leech, named Eeny, can manipulate, but not generate, kinetic forces. If the object in question is moving at any rate of speed, it can speed up, slow down, or turn the object at a maximum of 90 degrees. However, objects that have a way of continuing their forward motion (like, say, a speeding car with it's wheels pointed straight) the turn of forces would simply turn the object's motion, and not the wheels. This can result in the object veering wildly out of control, and/or flipping the object. But if an object is not moving at any rate of speed, the powers are completely useless against it. Large direction and speed changes appear to be more taxing than smaller ones, but it is unknown whether it is the leech at suffers for this, or Pestis himself.

Anatomically, both leeches are exactly alike. Each has a black-and-brown coloring to it, is approximately 2' x 8" x 6" (long by tall by wide), has a maw ringed with countless razor-sharp teeth, and a two-inch-long stinger. Due to some mutation, both leeches are also able to ingest any manner of material and gain sustenance, and in some cases other things, from it. Meeny, the fire-leech, is able to ingest any object and not only break it down, but also to determine every event that has befallen it, as well as it's properties and what it contains (for example, if he ate an encyclopedia he would know everything that had happened to it, as well as what it is made out of, and every bit of text within). Eeny on the other hand does not digest and break down objects that he eats. Instead, he is able to hold them within his body, completely preserved, for any amount of time. Though it has not been tested or verified, it would seem that the diminutive creature is a miniature worm-hole (no pun intended). However, aside from visual confirmation, there is no way to be sure about any of the above information, as Pestis is extremely against an autopsy of his two companions.

Hollow Bones

Rather than having a normal human skeletal structure, Pestis' bones are in fact hollow like a bird's. Nearly all of his bones are hollow, with criss-crossing struts or trusses inside the bones for structural strength. While, unfortunately, this alone does not give him the ability to fly, he is able to resist the pull of gravity much more easily allowing him to, if nothing else, jump long distances without harm to his body. It also allows him higher-than-human speed, agility, endurance, and reflexes.

Weaknesses

Pestis is, more or less, a completely normal person. His unnatural bone structure and digestive system have no effect on his durability or fortitude. As such, a bullet, knife, or any other form of harm is just as effective against him as it is against any other human being. Due to the powers of his leeches, however, hitting him at all might be tougher than one could originally think. Also, he suffers from severe amnesia and is unable to recall any events from the first seventeen-and-a-half years of his life.

Equipment

MX399-0a Self-Propulsion Boots

Stolen from an "abandoned" warehouse, Pestis uses them to further his jumping abilities by combining his low-weight (due to hollow bones) and the propulsion exhibited by the boots. He is uncertain where exactly he retrieved them from, as they seem to combine the efforts of the Arachnos, Crey, and Malta technologies. Despite their unknown origin, Pestis has yet to need to use any professional help on repairing and upgrading these boots.

.357 Colt Python

Assumed to be out of habit, Pestis himself is unsure as to why he carries this piece. It is unremarkable by all standards, and the diminutive 4" barrel gun sticks completely to the off-the-assembly-line stereotype. Any reading up on this pistol would come of with something similar to this: "The Colt Python is a double action, large I-frame handgun chambered for the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge. Pythons have a reputation for superior fit & finish, accuracy, smooth trigger pull and a tight cylinder lock-up." The one odd thing that one maybe find upon closer inspection is that the gun is only loaded with one bullet at a time. The other five slots remain clean and clear as the day they were made. Pestis seems to find nothing strange about this, and continues to load the gun in such a fashion, apparently seeing no need for any further shots after the first. More often than not, the gun remains safely in either a shoulder holster beneath his jacket or tucked away in the back of his pants.

Funyuns

Despite obviously not needing to eat, he still enjoys the taste of food. As such, he is commonly seen chowing down on any number of Funyuns bags that he has on his person at all times.

Trivia

- Pestis is unable to eat unless he feeds his meal to Meeny, however he still enjoys the taste of food and can usually be seen munching on a bag of Funyuns

- Generally, both leeches stay within Pestis' stomach when not in combat, feeding, or socializing

- Pestis maintains a telepathic link with the leeches, and is occasionally able to see through their eyes. However, this obviously requires large amounts of concentration and is draining on both parties

- Meeny's powers are extremely similar to the Starship Trooper's insect's powers. (The powers I'm referencing start at 1:55 seconds in, but it's a good video overall. Feel free to watch the rest, anyway.)

- Constantly has his blood-red bandana on him, be it over his nose and mouth or around his neck

- Generally avoids physical contact, though the reason for this is unknown
