The Super Troopers : The Early Years

The Show

It was only a short-lived reality show about a handful of tweens with super powers, fighting crime, each running, leaping, kicking and fighting bad guys in matching bodysuits with their own unique colors. But when you're 14 and have a habit of watching a lot of TV in the afternoons and evenings because your mother works late and you're not allowed out of the apartment, you'll watch anything. There were a few regulars on the show, and a lot of kids who came and went. Of course, the Strawberry Trooper was the cute one... she was in almost every episode Roger saw, so she must have been the studio's favorite. The thing was, she was a better actor than most of them... she would actually take time between kicking and punching to shout at the villains, and even if the lines were cheesy, she had spunk. When the show was canceled, he followed the news about the Troopers online, to see what had become of them. He even went so far as to find the karate dojo that had taught several of the actors from the show. It's not like he hadn't had several sensei in the past, what with all the times he'd moved.

The New Guy

Roger Elliott had always liked acting, role-playing, improvising... anything where he could get into character. It was only natural that in high-school, and later in college, he would study acting. There's not always a lot of work for an aspiring actor, however... even though Roger was used to the stage, he found himself working the small screen, mostly in a handful of television commercials. His agent contacted him, finally, about an offer for a part in a reality show, since they were looking for actors with combat training... had he ever heard of the Troopers? It had been years since he last checked up on that old show, but he still remembered how much he'd enjoyed watching it, and so he enthusiastically agreed to a screen test. He got the part.

Reality (show) Check

Since joining up as the Plum Trooper, Roger has faced one lesson after another about the realities of being on TV. Everything is about marketing and time slots, people will sue over the slightest breach of contract, and the star of the new run (none other than his former favorite, Strawberry herself!) has turned out to be more of a disillusioned primadonna than a superhero. It's hard to fight crime -and- make it look good while tangled up in red tape, but he does his best. He is a bit leery about the future of the show however, since it's always on the brink of cancellation. After all, there's only so much you can do if the villains you face don't even take you seriously...

Powers

Since he was very young, Roger has had karate classes... his final sensei having been the same instructor who taught Strawberry and the other original Troopers, he is a fairly agile and adept fighter. Though he is older than she is, he still doesn't quite match Strawberry's prowess... but he's working on that! He also wears a standard protective Trooper suit.

Vulnerabilities

Roger has done a lot of live fights on stage, as well as off-camera, but he is still a bit conscious of how things will look on TV, and this has made him slightly hesitant in his recent fights. Also, the challenge of keeping his glasses from shifting inside the too-small helmet has caused his aim to become a bit shaky, but with practice, this should improve.
