OOC Explanation
---After a GREAT amount of experimentation, I realized that Dark attacks were my favorite line at the time. I wanted Dark Armor as well, but it just didn't fit what I got a sudden inspiration to make... a Vampire fitting to my ideas. The first game that would allow me to do it. Though, that required Regeneration, which I've never liked a lot.
---Though I loved the way this character was starting to form, my real goal with him was simple. Become my first 50, and as fast as possible. With EXTREMELY devoted work, and some great friends along the way, I made it in a week and a half, after only getting to 27 in the seven months I'd played before-hand. Surprise and shock to all.
The Story of Praenuntius
---Roman times were dark times. When Rome had dominated all of its worldly enemies, it should never have been any surprise that new enemies arose. Enemies from a darker realm. Though the agents of the Emporer himself knew of all the rumors spreading of sightings of homes left in ruin, and shadows that seemed to have eyes, the general public was left generally unaware.
---It eventually fell to one of the Emporer's greatest intelligence agents to create a team of the greatest warriors he could assemble, and secretly fight this threat. To allow it to become a well known threat could cause devistating panic to all of Rome, if they believed demons themselves were waging a war against Humanity.
---After a great amount of searching and many failed attempts at destroying one of the creatures themselves, the Emporer's agent, Taemonicus, found that priests already knew quite an astonishing amount about these demons. In fact, they'd begun training some of their greatest Paladins with the knowledge to fight them.
---Taemonicus had the priests train his chosen warriors as well(though the priests were hesitant), and took control of the group. The Emporer was secretly updated of all of its progress, and he eventually came to name it, "Praesidium De Noctem" (Guard of Nightfall).
---They fought for four years, constantly defeating what they believed were great demons, but losing some of their own at too fast a rate to be an overall success. Eventually, they were brought down to three remaining warriors. Their leader: Desticus DeMorne, their second in command: Reticus Laticus, and their best fighter underneath the leaders: Laternus Draecus.
---In a battle that ended up being tougher than usual, Desticus DeMorne heard the demon whisper in its last words, a latin sentence announcing that the Praesidium De Noctem could defeat all of the minions they wanted, but would never defeat their master. Desticus realized right away that by defeating these demons, they were only erradicating limbs of an enemy that would just regenerate over and over again.
---When Desticus reported this to Taemonicus, he was told to put it out of his head and follow orders, and there was never a discussion of it again. Though Desticus was hesitant, he followed his orders, but swore never to forget it, and constantly seek information about it, hoping to one day prove the information's worth.
---The three remaining Praesidium travelled to another simple occurance where shadow had noticeably gathered, but found something they never expected. A demon so powerful that his very presence was difficult to tolerate. He glowed in red, had horns of authority, and wings made of bone. He was a frightful sight, even when used to the minions they'd been fighting until now.
---The demon announced that he'd been waiting for the three, having obviously set a trap, and commenced an attack that was simply too powerful for the three to stop. Once all three heroes lay defeated, the demon left through a portal he summoned. Moments later, Desticus awoke from his unconsciousness to find that his two companions were dead, and the portal had not closed. Would it be better to report this to Taemonicus, or give up his life to try and find the demon?
---The portal felt like a giant vaccuum, and at the end of it, Desticus found himself tingling in every possible part of his body. It felt as though his whole body was open to the air. Disregarding the feeling, he tried to recover from the injuries sustained in the last battle, and to keep his senses accute. As he wandered through the shadowy world filled with tendrils of black substance and purple mist, he noticed that he was recovering quite quickly from all of the injuries he'd sustained. It would make sense that a demon would benefit from this effect in their home world, but why was he?
---Desticus heard whispers in his head to look up, and just as he did, found the demon king himself descending upon him. The same that had killed off his companions. What next ensued was a three month war of cat and mouse that balanced itself back and forth as time went on. Though previously unable to even slightly match the Demon Lord, Desticus found that in this world, though it was the demon's home, it allowed him to recover from everything the demon king had to offer in the way of harm. He no longer needed food, liquid or sleep, he was just simply always able to continue.
---At the end of just over three months of battle, the Demon Lord struck a blow that finally disabled Desticus and left him laying, unable to stand. The Demon Lord strode over to Desticus, and in a booming voice, spoke in Latin tongue saying, "Why you have been able to meld with the dark crystals, I'll never know, but you were still not match for me. Though I would love to use you as a minion of my own, I'm sure your spirit would cause me more trouble than you're worth. Instead, I'll allow you to experience the lovely feel of a shadow blade through your heart. You will die in a matter of time. Likely in one-hundred years, and paralyzed until then."
---The demon formed a dark, misty blade from the air itself, and as he lifted the blade, Desticus managed one last burst of energy, and yanked his Holy Sword from underneath the rock that had trapped it, and sent it flying straight through the upper torso of the Demon Lord.
---In a horrendous roar, the misty blade faded away, the demon king's eyes lit in a red flame, and he exploded in a burst of red light. When Desticus was able to open his eyes once more, he noticed the Demon Lord was gone with the misty blade he'd carried.
---Though he somehow managed to finish off the Demon Lord, he had a much larger problem ahead of him. The portal, his only entrance, was no longer there. He knew of no other exit and had no idea how to conjure one. Desticus spent the next 33 months wandering the Netherworld, simply trying to find a way out, until on the last day of those months, a portal appeared where the last had been. Figuring it must have been a spell of some sort based on the time of year, he stepped through, and found himself back in the home he'd been in previously.
---Stepping out of the portal, Desticus suddenly felt deathly sick. As if his body had just lost the only thing supporting it. He noticed the home he was in had been re-inhabited, and just before fainting, he heard voices.
---The next few months of Desticus' existance were discovery and dying. In the time, Taemonicus explained that after the two others were found, and there were no remains of him to be found, the demons had stopped appearing at all. There was no sign, and Desticus was reguarded secretly as a Hero who'd given his life to save the world from the dark forces he sword to fight.
---Taemonicus asked Desticus to explain what had happened, but hard as he tried, he could not remember a thing before coming out of the portal. Taemonicus figured he just needed rest, and continually demanded he do so.
---The last day of those three months, the physicians taking care of Desticus noticed he was extremely pale, and worst of all, his heart had stopped beating. Being pronounced dead, they covered his body and went to find a priest to give him his last rites. When they returned with the priest, he was gone.
Praenuntius: Transformation
Praenuntius from original form, through each of his developments(for story line behind the developments, they will be in the section below, soon).
From Birth until Present
---These are the compiled stories of Praenuntius from the end of his story until now. I will be updating frequently, as it is nowhere near finished for the moment.
Desticus to Praenuntius: Self Observation
Praenuntius: Origin of the Name
Praenuntius: The Mutation
---After Praenuntius' recovery from the illness, his body began to mutate. Slowly, he gained power, and changed power, in three stages. All three stages had very physical impacts, as well as impacts upon his powers. All of the stages can be seen in the screenshots above, in "Praenuntius: Transformation".
---The Original form and Armored form, are the same stage of his evolution. His Original costume being what was tailored for him to better protect him as he fought. Help he received from a good friend. It features padded armor, boots prepared for combat, simple gloves to help hide his clawed hands, and a trench coat with his symbol embroidered on the left flap.
Original and Armored Powers
---Praenuntius noticed right away that after his "death", he'd become much more physically capable of many things, even without any specialized training. He could recover from fatigue and injuries extremely quickly, almost as if they'd not happened at all, and even run faster and jump higher than ever before. He also noticed that he could combine a shadowy essence with his anger, to for attacks that could not just simply damage, but hinder, an opponent, making him much less capable of concentrating enough to hit anything with his own attacks.
Dark Melee
Shadow Punch; Smite; Shadow Maul; Siphon Life
Regeneration
Fast Healing; Quick Recovery; Reconstruction; Integration; Resilience
Abilities
Jump Kick; Combat Jump; Air Superiority; Swift; Hurdle; Health; Stamina
The First Mutation
---When Praenuntius mutated for the first time as a Vampire, it was a complete surprise. Though he'd felt his power getting stronger until the point of it, he'd never expected such a drastic change to suddenly come about. It warped his physical appearance entirely, whitening his hair, and causing a permament and unquenchable white fire to constantly burn on his whole body. It also allowed him extra advantages in his powers...
---He was now able to regenerate his wounds, even after being defeated, cause his enemies to stop and shake in fear, and even convince his enemies to focus solely on him. Most importantly, he could now move without his enemies even noticing he was there. He was becoming dangerous...
Dark Melee
Touch of Fear; Confront
Regeneration
Revive
Abilities
Stealth
Final Mutation
---When Praenuntius was caught off guard with the surprise of his never-ending existance, he gained ultimate power. What the prophecy had spoken of, came to light, and he had now become what he was intended to be the all along, though he never knew it.
---Growing wings, he was now able to fly, both defensively and for pure speed, but most importantly, his attunement with the dark energy he'd previously been able to manifest, had now grown. Not only could Praenuntius completely freeze an opponent in pure fear with just a stare, but he could now manifest his dark power and throw it at a distance. Partially blinding his enemies as it did when he was up close.
Abilities
Hover; Fly
Dark Mastery
Petrifying Gaze; Dark Blast
OOC Side Notes:
---I have a very different opinion about what a Vampire should be, compared to others. I believe that Vampirism is a mutation, entirely. It has nothing to do with magic. The cells are mutated by a disease-like parasite, causing instinctual and cellular changes. The heart stops beating, causing an inability for the body to create blood, and so requires blood to be obtained through feeding from others. The body, adapting as Humans do, adjusts in necessary ways to allow that feeding. Such changes as hollow fangs and increased physical prowess allowing a Vampire to be a predator to Man, and many similar things. I believe the Vampire is as much an animal as Human or dog.
---That being said, I only chose powers that I could either toggle on at all times, or have as passives. The ONLY exception to this rule is Reconstruction. My explanation for Reconstruction is that when a Vampire gets low on health and needs to feed, going into a sort of blood fury heightens his desperation to feed, causing him to become suddenly more capable. This would happen when low in health, just as would a heal.
---Other than that, everything is passive or toggle, other than attacks(obviously). I chose both Hurdle AND Swift because a Vampire naturally moves faster and jumps higher at all times.
---Praenuntius has the ability to fly, which is possible in every form, of course, but I only use it in his Demon Lord form, which is the only form with wings. Personally, I think it's fairly idiotic when a Vampire just happens to be able to fly. If they could use dark power to manipulate force around them like that, they'd also have telekinisis and similar things. Then they aren't a Vampire, they're a magician.
---As a final note, when playing, I also do not use Life Siphon on machines, or anything that would not have blood of some sort. In those cases, I generally stick to Reconstruction, and my passive regeneration. Which... makes it tough, but so does playing this build by my RP rules at all. =)
