History
Pyriane Leroux was born in Nice, France, to a perfectly normal, young married couple. As such, it came as a total surprise when newborn Pyriane shot sparks from her hands just moments after birth, setting the nurse's scrubs on fire. Her bewildered parents Jean-Marc and Véronique, though totally unprepared for such a problematic child, managed well enough for six months, until baby Pyriane accidentally set her crib afire. Véronique managed to get out of the house safely, but Jean-Marc perished trying to make his way upstairs to the room where Pyriane lay in her flaming crib. When the fire finally burned down enough, the firefighters found a very soaked and crying Pyriane still laying in her crib, completely unharmed by the fire that had destroyed her home and her family. Véronique, devastated by the incident, relinquished all parental rights to her child and left the baby in the care of the government.
For the next decade, the French government struggled to keep Pyriane from causing any further destruction, but they weren't equipped to house an uncontrollable firestarter. At their wits' end, the French government finally sent twelve-year-old Pyriane to Paragon in the hopes that she would be able to find a home with the heroes there, figuring that Paragon City was better equipped to handle an uncontrollable mutant. Thus, Pyriane arrived in America. She became the official charge of the U.S. government and was welcomed into G.I.F.T., where she was housed in a safe, fireproof location until she could be taught to harness her abilities. As she became more Americanized, and more comfortable with her mutant powers, she had her name officially changed to Pyriana, and joined the ranks of the heroes of Paragon City.
Pyriana now resides in the base of her supergroup, B.R.O.F.I.S.T., and operates as an active member of the group. She is no longer a charge of the U.S. government, as her mentor Kasun is in the process of becoming her legal guardian.
Description
Pyriana is young, still in her teens and not legally an adult yet. This shows a lot in her appearance and personality. She's the epitome of a rebellious teen, from her edgy haircut, slightly risqué outfits, and customary jeans with a flame design burned onto the legs, to her generally snarky and sullen mood (though she can perhaps be forgiven her snarkiness, considering her history).
Pyriana generally wears red, the color of her powers, and black. She can rarely be found without her flame jeans, her black chain choker, and her bondage-style wrist wraps.
English isn't her first language, but she's picked up on a lot of slang (and more than a few swear words) during the few years she's been in the U.S. and her English is good, although she still has a French accent. She occasionally has trouble with English idioms and other colloquialisms.
