Background
Early Life
Jenny was born to Satoru and Debra Tsujimoto, father and mother respectively. Her father was the owner of a major corporation that is in the business of producing and inventing military weapons. Her mother was a housewife who spent the most time with her during her childhood, thus being the closer parent to her. At the age of 5, Jenny started showing herself to be very bright and creative, often playing with toys that were complicated enough for those twice her age. By the time she was 10, she had managed to build herself an advanced remote-controlled car from scratch, with only the guidance of her father who taught her the usage of the tools used for such a creation. Her sister, Masumi, was born a few years later, who often was in rivalry with her older sister mainly because of jealously that Jenny was the favorite child.
During her early schooling years, she had skipped preschool altogether and went on straight to elementary school when she had reached the entry age. Even then she had managed to skip four grades, thus graduating early.
Teenage to Adult Years
Jenny had proven herself to be an immensely bright student who did exceptionally well in her studies, skipping grades and advancing in her education quickly. Her schooling life was not all that perfect though, as she often faced social rejection from other students who often ostracized her with names like "geek" or "stuffy bookworm". She was also very protected by her parents, and was forced to return home straight after school by armored limousine that had at least one bodyguard seated inside. This fact also gave the impression to alot of her fellow students that she was a "rich spoilt kid". She was never allowed to socialize freely and publicly outside of school, hence living a very sheltered life. Her parents did not want her to walk the crime-infested streets of Paragon City, and decided that their method of upbringing was best for her.
However, even with these difficulties in life, Jenny had managed to achieve her PhD's in Electronics, Robotics and Automation by the time she was 23 years of age; An outstanding educational achievement by any standard. It was also during this period in time that Paragon City faced its first invasion by the Rikti. It was also during then that she watched the many heroes who fought against each attack on the city, feeling inspired by what they did. Having no powers of her own, she often envied those heroes, having the up most respect for their dedication and sacrifice in defending her home city.
Tragedy
It was on a fateful summer night that Jenny had come across an event that would change her life forever. During her parents' attendance during a corporate dinner party at a prestigious grand hotel restaraunt, an undetected terrorist bomb exploded within, killing nearly everyone who was inside, including both of her parents. It was during such a tragedy that the immense shock of her loss drove her to a catatonic state and she spent a year in a mental hospital slowly going through her recovery. The feeling of guilt also overcame her for the longest time, for the night before Jenny's parents had attended the dinner party before meeting their demise, her father and her got into a bitter argument. Her father wished for her to inherit his business and take over ownership of his corporation, but she had rejected his offer, wanting to go on her own path in life and start a business of her own; inventing technology to aid in the civil sector. They had both refused to talk to each other after the argument was done as both parties could not come to an agreement.
Upon her full recovery, she spent a month reflecting at her high-security condo apartment. She made the heavy-hearted decision not to take over her father's business, instead giving that right to her younger sister Masumi. Over the years into adulthood, both sisters still couldn't get along even after their parents' deaths. Masumi gladly took over ownership of their late father's corporation, be it out of greed or spite of her older sister and vowed never to speak to Jenny again, accusing her of having "betrayed father's wishes and shamed his memory". However, Jenny had already inherited a bigger share of her father's fortune as opposed to her younger sister's, a fact that only works to deepen the rivalry between them.
Insipration. Motivation. Invention.
Being shunned by her younger sister who had claimed her father's multi-million business and having moved out of their family home, Jenny was left alone to herself in the technological workshop that her father had built in their condo apartment. Ever since she first witnessed the great heroes battling against the very first Rikti invasion, she had an undying inspiration...a dream to be just like them. She looked around at the various million-dollar equipment around her workshop and then decided what she wanted to do.
I may not have any powers like those heroes, but maybe I can use my inventions to help me do what they do.
And it is with this thought and decision that she went about to design her very first technological suit. Using a good portion of her inherited fortune, she went about ordering parts and raw materials needed for construction. Months had passed, from building the interior electronics that controlled navigation and targeting systems, to the molding of titanium-alloy plates for armored-protection, she had achieved the very first prototype suit. She dubbed the suit Wasp MK I, having painted it a black coating with a finish of yellow stripes, hence naming the suit after the insect. However impressive this suit was though, it was not to be her crowning invention.
It is known fact that many heroes in Paragon City utilize a suit of some kind to help them fight crime, and alot of times it is the offensive capabilities of these suits that make them stand out from each other. In the case of Jenny's titanium-alloy plated Wasp MK I, it was outfitted by a unique invention on her part, named "Incendiary gauntlets". These "gauntlets" are capable of creating and manipulating fire through means of a scientific process called "Pylectrolysis". The exact workings behind such a process is a well-kept secret by her and through it fire can be created and intensified as long as electricity and oxygen are in supply. Powerful kinetic guns are installed as well and shoots out high velocity bursts of kinetic energy to "throw" projectiles of flames towards their intended targets. This invention was successfully achieved over many months of sleepless nights and even a workshop accident that had Jenny injured with minor burns. But the fruits of her labor has created the successful hero named Pyro-Wasp that she is today and for many more years to come for sure, as she has always progressed to better improve her suit and gauntlets.
Present Day
Having achieved her dream of being a hero of Paragon City, the need for financing of her suit's costly maintenance has always been a priority for Jenny. Relying solely on her inherited fortune was out of the question, and she started an independent business building and inventing devices and machinery for the commercial and industrial market, seeking to use technology to aid civilians in their daily life and work. Power conversion and optimiziation technologies have always been her most successful trades, and highly valued by industries all over the city. It is also not long after that she made the decision of revealing hers true self to the city, letting everybody know who Pyro-Wasp truly is behind the metallic visored mask of hers. Her relationship with her younger sister, Masumi, also had improved greatly, coming to terms with their differences. As a sign of goodwill, Masumi, who is still the owner of their father's weapons development corporation today, invited her to be a shareholder with her independent business, for her Power technologies had proven to be invaluable in weapons development. Jen-Tech Power Solutions Inc. is the name of her present company.
And with things looking brighter for Jenny, especially with her steady income flow for her suit's maintenance, she can confidently look to the future, hoping everyday that she is doing her parents proud with her path in life, fighting crime on a daily basis for her home city.
The Hero Called Jenny: Character Traits
Jenny is an idealist. She firmly believes in why the heroes of Paragon City fight an everyday battle against crime and evil. Due to her desire to be like other successful and long-established heroes, she often pushes herself, even beyond the limits that her suit is able to handle. It sometimes leads to her doing reckless deeds that she views are necessary in establishing some goal. Jenny has a slight inferiority complex that may be attributed to the rough times of social rejection that she had faced during her schooling life. Because of this fact, her suit has become a crutch of confidence to her, and every time a weakness is shown in her present suit, she takes it very personally and constantly tries to perfect it, always fearing that it would never be good enough.
Pylectrolysis
A technology founded by Jenny Tsujimoto. It is used exclusively with her Wasp suits and no other medium due to its destructive nature; ideal for fighting super-powered crime of today. The exact details of how the process of Pylectrolysis works is a closely guarded secret by Jenny. All she would reveal openly is that it involves electrical conversions using unnamed materials and electrical components and oxygen as a fuel for combustion. This technology is incorporated only in her Incendiary Gauntlets.
Wasp Suit Capabilities
Jenny's armored suit has gone through several upgrades throughout her career as a technological hero. However some functions remain standard amongst each suit.
Incendiary Gauntlets
Highly-armored forearm suit pieces that are used as primary offensive weapons. Fire is generated through vents at the front of the forearm plating above each glove, along with installed kinetic guns that blast kinetic energy, sending the generated fire as projectiles at extremely high velocities against intended targets.
Right-hand gauntlet is also equipped with a miniature force field generator that can create a minor containment field trapping fire within in a "sword" shape. When this "fire sword" is impacted against the intended target, the containment field breaks forcefully and the fire within is released explosively in a small controlled manner, though the damage inflicted can be severe. The "fire sword" is only used during desperate measures when Jenny is forced to defend herself at close quarters.
In an event that the protective plating of either gauntlet is compromised, the integral components that carry out the process of "Pylectrolysis" are immediately destroyed by intense heat discharge. This security measure safeguards against the gauntlets exploding outright and prevents her guarded technology from being salvaged if she is forced to discard the gauntlets immediately during a field operation.
Helmet HUD
Ruby-quartz visors with a holographic visual interface for combat targetting sensors to various scanning reports. Visors are also capable of special visual modes such as night, infra-red and electromagnetic emissions. Helmet has a retractable panel for HUD interfacing with various electronic devices such as PDAs and computers.
Long Range Communication
Communication interface via conventional radio frequencies and cellphone signals to more advanced channels like satellite up-links.
Protective Plating
Protective armor plating, made from enchanced titanium-alloy to the near-indestructible Impervium in later suit versions.
Universal Power Conversion
Universal power converters are able to tap into various power sources, from the simple household outlet to high-voltage power coils. Converters are also capable of extracting from energy sources found in the environment like solar rays from the Sun and even heat emissions from her Incendiary Gauntlets when activated. It is this critical function within all suits that make them capable of functioning in field operations for an indefinite period of time.
Life Support
Each suit has a reservoir of oxygen that is constantly at optimal capacity. Special vents in each suit extract oxygen from the surrounding air and filters any unwanted gases that may potentially be harmful. The extracted oxygen is then compressed to optimize storage capacity. This life support system also allows Jenny to operate in hazardous environments devoid of breathable air and even underwater. Full oxygen reservoir supply lasts for three hours in such situations.
Emergency Internal Repairs
Each suit has a self-repair capability in an event where a function becomes damaged internally from a penetrating impact of an attack. Rerouting of power connections is also done automatically if needed. Self-repair function does not apply for damages to outer protective-plating however; only internally. Each suit also has a compartment that stores a multi-function repair device, allowing Jenny to perform more extensive on-site repairs. Protective plating is sectionized and each section can be opened up to allow for internal repairs this way.
Emergency First-Aid Module
Morphine injectors are installed within the suit's interior, able to provide pain-relief to Jenny from penetrating attacks against the suit. In cases where broken bones at Jenny's limbs are involved, mechanical splints in the suit's interior are available. An inbuilt deliberator is also installed in every suit and activated upon detection of Jenny's heartbeat stopping to revive her.
1ST Generation Wasp Suit
Jenny's Wasp Suit has gone through several upgrades over time.
MK I
The very first prototype. Suit has all standard functions, standard projectile attacks and titanium-alloy plating.
MK II
Second tier suit that has propulsion jet boots, giving free-flight capabilities and has a navigational computer installed. Upgrade to Incendiary Gauntlets, with launchers able to fire small flare canisters high into the air. These canisters then explode after a timed-delay, releasing dozens of small flares that rain down on a surrounding area for a short duration of time.
MK III
Third tier suit with power converter upgrades, allowing Incendiary Gauntlets to draw power from the suit's reserves at a much higher rate and increasing the intensity of fire generation to even higher levels. This allows for more powerful fire attacks like the explosive "Fireball". Suit is also upgraded with a "Mirage" stealth-generator that upon activation surrounds the suit with a blurred imagery effect, making it harder for enemies to hit it with their attacks.
MK IV
Suit MK IV introduces an upgrade to Incendinary Gauntlet kinetic guns, magnifying their kinetic outbursts and increasing the velocity and impact of flame projectiles dramatically. Energy extraction is also fine-tuned to extract heat emission energy from the biological lifeforms at close range along with machinery if applicable.
MK V
Incendiary Gauntlets are upgraded for "nuking" capabilities. In an event where a destructive area-of-effect attack is needed, power converters are instantly drained and charge flame intensities generated by the gauntlets to overload level, creating an "Inferno" area-of-effect blast. However this attack leaves the suit incapable of any functions other than life support for a duration until power reserves start recharging. In addition to the Inferno attack, the gauntlets are also capable charging up and firing intensified "beams" of fire against single targets.
MK VI
Upon becoming a member of Vanguard, Jenny has gained access to the near-indestructible Impervium metal and it is applied for the protective-plating of suit MK VI for increased protection. Suit is also outfitted with a retractable cannon that extends from a compartment placed at the back and attaches itself onto the suit's right gauntlet. The cannon uses two types of ammunition:
Cryogenic Grenades: Used mainly for non-lethal apprehension of criminals, but has seen use in deadly combat.
Long Range Missile (LRM): A long range area-of-effect explosive rocket used as a lethal solution to a group threat.
Suit's "Mirage" stealth generator has also been upgraded to create a virtually invisible cloaking field for reconnaissance operations.
2ND Generation Wasp Suit: Situation-Adaptive Solution
As Jenny eventually became a battle-hardened veteran hero, she had decided that her First-Gen suit had proven its disadvantages in certain battle scenarios and sought a solution to make it more versatile. Thus she began working on a minor overhaul design process and came up with a design that would allow her suit to be outfitted with a certain type of modular configuration of ancillary functions; both offensive and defensive wise. Each configuration has a fixed set of ancillary functions. This new suit is dubbed by her as "situation-adaptive".
Suit configurations are done only in Jenny's technological workshop and cannot be performed during operations, as special power tools are needed for switching between configurations. Thus, decisions made for configuration choices and implementation procedures are done preemptively before any operation.
The suit's primary weapon, the Incendiary Gauntlets, and standard functions remain unchanged regardless of the configuration currently installed.
Jenny's latest situation-adaptive suit is similar to her First-Gen MK VI one in terms of standard functions and exterior design, sporting the trademark main black paint with secondary yellow details.
Configurations
After the long design process, two suit configurations were decided, and have remained unchanged to this day.
HOS (Heavy Ordnance & Stealth)
The HOS configuration is mostly similar to Jenny's First-Gen MK VI suit but excludes the Cryogenic Grenade munitions, while including the LRM (Long Range Missile) weapon system and the Mirage stealth generator. The configuration is built mainly around the LRM weapon system, where its primary use is to provide heavy artillery support for task force operations involving Jenny and the team she is in, where fighting against upper-tier super-powered foes is expected. For this reason, the HOS Configuration is only selected when heavy firepower is needed. The Mirage stealth generator provides capabilities for hit-and-run bombardment tactics or for covert reconnaissance operations. The Mirage stealth generator is also HOS configuration's only form of defense capability.
DAV (Defensive Assault Versatility)
The DAV configuration is most often used due to its performance versatility in any type of operation. It does not have the heavy firepower of the HOS configuration, but includes a force-field generator as an effective defense solution when under heavy fire from all types of incoming attacks.
Furthermore, this configuration also includes a kinetic-shield generator. This device coats the suit's Impervium plating with a "film" of repulsing kinetic energy, displacing the inertia of incoming ballistics like bullets and other solid objects and lessens the impact against the plating. The kinetic-shield can also be increased to turbo levels, providing effective resistance against most attacks at the cost of draining 99% of the suit's energy reserves while leaving enough to power life support. As much minimal damage as possible is being done to the plating this way and more importantly to the suit's internal systems.
The primary purpose of this configuration is mainly focused on providing defensive capabilities to support the suit's primary offensive ones.
The configuration also includes a single offensive module for each Incendiary Gauntlet, allowing for the kinetic guns to discharge a powerful melee-ranged impact upon foes.
Suit Limitations and Weaknesses
No matter how technological-advanced or heavily-armored the suit might be, it is still subject to damage as Pyro-Wasp battles all sorts of powerful foes. Constant maintenance for the suit is required on Jenny's part in her workshop. Her suit also is dependent on power and in a desperate scenario where power sources are not available for emergency recharging, she would be almost entirely helpless to defend herself, even though she has taken every precaution incorporated in every suit to avoid such a disaster.
Another notable weakness among Jenny's suit lies in the unavoidable compromises in the design. Each suit can only be lightly plated protection-wise to ensure mobility and energy sufficiency during combat and flight. Because of this, Jenny's suits can only withstand a certain amount of heavy critical damage before being compromised. Using plating that is too heavy would prove to be a major drain on energy resources and thus light protective plating has to be used to compensate for energy sufficiency at an acceptable level.
Trivia / Fun Knowledge
- The character of Pyro-Wasp / Jenny Tsujimoto was inspired by no other than Marvel's Iron Man / Tony Stark, since I love technological heros. I had the idea to create a younger, female equivalent to Tony Stark for some interesting results.
- Jenny's favorite alcoholic beverage is cold sake. Her favorite food is spicy ramen.
- Jenny listens to Electronic music mostly. Her favorite group is New Order.
