Character Background
Praetoria
Rebecca Sparks grew up in Imperial City with her two parents and older brother, Clayton. Her parents, Brian and Jessica Sparks, were both steadfast Loyalist agents, deeply entrenched in Cole's ideals. As such, both Rebecca and her brother were raised to follow their footsteps as proud agents of the Loyalists. While Clayton accepted this, Rebecca did not. At age 18, she decided to use the training she had received thusfar for her own purposes.
Having no interest in the conflict between the Resistance and the Loyalists, she looked elsewhere. Her search brought her to the Syndicate, an organized, factionalized group of criminals notorious in Praetoria. Upon being accepted into the Syndicate, her parents shunned her and her brother kept only minimal contact. For the next five years, Rebecca would serve as a proficient agent for the Syndicate, forming a very close bond with her faction and eventually falling in love with one of its members. She relished in being far more happy than her restless brother, who had grown tired of his place in the Loyalists. (Before the next events would unfold, Clayton would end up, through a series of complicated events, working for the Resistance).
Unfortunately for Rebecca, an extraordinarily terrible sequence of events would soon shatter her world. In a mission that went horribly awry, Rebecca witnessed every one of her coagents brutally killed before her eyes - including the man she had fallen in love with. Rebecca, however, was kept alive 'to send a message to the Syndicate.' The clear message was that the Syndicate was not invincible and certainly not unopposed as a criminal organization. This message, however, was not kindly received. Upon returning to the Syndicate to report what had happened, a broken Rebecca was promptly kicked out of the group, leaving her with nothing. Things would get worse.
As Rebecca was being literally kicked out of Syndicate HQ, a fight was raging nearby between the Resistance and Loyalists. Still in shock and with nowhere else to go, Rebecca investigated the chaos. Upon arriving at the scene of the action, she noticed a familiar figure: her brother, Clayton. With nothing but family left in her now inverted life, Rebecca was suddenly determined to help him. Racing around the fighting, she emerged from an alleyway in time to see a bloodied Clayton fall to the ground. On top of everything else, she had just witnessed her brother die.
Loyalist fighters, desperate to keep civilians out of the chaos, tried to pull Rebecca away from the scene, but she wouldn't budge. With little time for argument, they knocked her unconscious and dragged her away from the fighting. Upon realization of who she was - the sister of the hated traitor of the Loyalists and the disgraced criminal of the Syndicate - Loyalists brought the unconscious Rebecca to the dimensional portal of Primal Earth.
Rebecca awoke a shattered, crushed, and broken soul. Her life had been torn to pieces in one day. As quickly as she had been broken, however, Rebecca "fixed" herself. Sitting before the dimensional portal, her heart cut away its broken pieces and a new Rebecca - one cold, calculated and purposefully emotionless - was born. Convinced of the weakness of love and other emotions, she hardened herself and stepped through the portal to begin anew.
