Ren in Summary
Former small-time model, using her exotic appearance as leverage into the industry, her descent into apparent psycho-killer-dom was closely monitored by the paparazzi.
Childhood
Ren's birth mother died of unspecified illness when she was young. Her father struggled to raise his daughter alone but eventually remarried so she would have feminine influences in her life. Ren's step-mother decided that the young girl had the makings of a star and began enrolling her in various classes to develop her physique and culture, specifically, capitalizing on Ren's Japanese heritage. The young girl was eventually launched into the modeling industry, her "boring" birth name, Daniela Crewe, unofficially changed to Ren Wakahisa.
Career
Starting Out
Ren Wakahisa's career did not genuinely take off until she reached her pre-teens when her step-mother realized the potential of the "Japanese school-girl" craze and marketed her step-daughter as such. Ren spent most of her teens in various Japanese-themed photo shoots modeling kimonos, plaid school uniforms, soy milk and sake. Eventually, this grew to include car shows as the young girl began to fill out physically. At the time of her arrest, Ren was considered one of the rising stars in the industry, a long series of lucrative deals and contracts with various companies including a few large-name cosmetic brands already under her belt.
To Villainy
Though from the beginning it was rumored that Ren was abused as a child, staff at photo shoots reporting strange bruising on the child, as she grew older the bruises were brushed off as a result of her ongoing blade training. Two weeks before she was due to start shooting in Tahiti for a series of beer advertisements, her step-mother and agent burst in on one of her practice sessions intending to discuss the upcoming trip.
Enraged that her practice session was interrupted, Ren launched herself at the two adults, decapitating both before proceeding to mutilate the bodies almost beyond recognition and hang the heads from the window of her room. Her father, who usually supervised his daughter's practices, walked in on the bloody scene and was also decapitated and mutilated in a similar manner. Horrified neighbors called the police who arrived to find Ren calmly arranging the body parts around her room.
Disturbingly gleeful about the brutal murder of her family, she was sent to the Ziggursky Penitentiary as a special case normal prisons weren't equipped to accommodate. Finding herself one of the tamer ones there, Ren learned to blend in (stealth) and eventually came close to mastering the art of moving unseen through crowds. She got in a few fights, as evidenced by the small scar on her right cheek, hidden by a temporary tattoo. She was broken out of the Zig eight months into her term but not before damage was done to her person by the more violent types. The specifics of the contact have yet to be disclosed.
Personality
Outwardly friendly and apparently kind, when getting down to the business of slaughter, Ren takes to it with amusement and a strange light-hearted glee. She would rather not talk about her new career path but happily regards the world from the shadows having spent enough time in the limelight. She is strangely affectionate to her marks before, during and after the fact.
Abilities, Methods, and Preferred Weapons
The surgical precision of her closer cuts comes from her study of the human anatomy, an interest set in her by her step-mother hoping to feed an interest in her own physical appearance. Studying from The Anatomy Coloring Book between photo shoots, Ren memorized the layout of the entire human body, learning where organs are located and which vitals serve which functions.
After her study of the human body and her mastery of several forms of blades, Ren started with her parents and gradually broadened her range to all sizes and ages of humans after moving to the Isles. Mutilating whether for business or personal amusement, Ren usually carries a few smaller knives for detail work. Corpses have been found with etchings of butterflies and flowers carefully worked into their backs. Autopsies on said corpses were found to have been strangled, coroners speculating that she sat on their heads while carving their backs, simultaneously suffocating them while holding them in place and carving her pictures. Police speculate that she could not have worked alone to hold a person down in that position but no possible accomplices have been named.
Weaponry
- Katana - Ren's weapon of choice for larger, hasty kills. Ren's katana, the same one she often posed with while modeling, is rumored to have a few small stickers at the base of the blade. Close examination of photographs she took with the blade show the stickers to be hearts and flowers, likely from her start with the blade at a young age.
- Other blades - Ren has been seen from time to time with several other blades. No one has gotten close enough to take inventory of the exact number of blades she has acquired.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Lacking any enhancements to her person, Ren's combat thrives on quick, accurate attacks and the element of surprise. She currently does not have the ability to stand up to constant assault and without her blades she has no special offensive abilities. Her armor provides minimal protection and her defense relies heavily on her ability to dodge attacks.

- Father - deceased - Ren's businessman father married her birth mother while working for a marketing firm in Japan. The two moved back to the United States where they had their first and only daughter, Daniela, six months later. After her mothers death by unknown illnesses, Ren's father became depressed. Though his second wife breathed new life into him, he was never the same man and threw himself into his work, leaving his daughter to his second wife's care, blindly obliging her every whim when it came to his daughter and paying little attention to what sorts of modeling jobs she was given. Ren resents him for dying with her mother.

- Step-mother - deceased - Ren's former business manager. Primarily self-interested, the woman used Ren's exotic beauty to her own benefit, pushing her step-daughter into modeling jobs not designed for young girls. The Samurai Sake ad campaign scandal was a testament to her greed. Though little came of it except more publicity for Ren and the Samurai Sake brewery, the suggestive pictures launched Ren into the media spotlight, attention she despised and was never able to shake throughout her modeling career. The woman was also reportedly having an affair with Ren's agent. Ren's hatred for her step-mother was seen as the primary motivation for her descent into "madness".

- Her favorite book, The Anatomy Coloring Book, was sold at auction for $750 after she was sent to jail. The book has since disappeared and the owner reported missing.
- Her training in "Japanese" culture did not include the language. She speaks only a few words learned from animes she watched for fun. She mainly speaks English and only speaks a few breathy Japanese phrases, enough to convince modeling agents that she is, indeed, Japanese.
- Though she favors the katana as her weapon of choice, she has experimented with throwing knives and a variety of other blades. She has reportedly admitted to preferring shorter blades for the personal feel of the kill.
