History

Women, Wine, And Larcenists

Italy.

The land of beautiful people, in the inside and the outside. Sure, there were thugs and criminals, but every culture was prone to a few misfits. At least the pickpockets here would smile at you before they stole the deed to your house or the watch off your wrist. And who knows? They might even invite you out to dinner if your handsome enough (using the money they stole from you, of course).

Where does this put our hero, though? Venice; twenty seven years ago; Anna Moretti gave birth to a baby girl, who she and the father, Francesco Moretti, named Tessa Moretti. Tessa grew up to be a little trouble maker, as all young girls should become, and at the age of ten years old, Anna and Francesco moved to America with their daughter, to live with family there.

Moving from Italy to America and going to elementary school was rough on Tessa. Most kids made fun of her thick accent, and most of the girls didn’t want to hang out with the Italian tomboy who liked playing in the mud with the rest of the boys.

Tessa made it through all the struggling though. She made it through elementary, and made a bunch of friends in middle school, and then even more in high school. She eventually looked into joining the Marines, and after weeks of arguing with her parents, she joined.

This Is My Rifle

Boot Camp was rough. Training was rough. Drill instructors were rough.

And Tessa loved it all. Especially getting yelled at, for some reason. It made her feel like the center of attention, something she lacked in her early childhood. For the first few weeks, Tessa was picked on and bullied by her drill instructor. After showing no regrets from joining the Marines, her drill instructor moved on, and Tessa did as she was told, as did all the other Marine recruits.

Once Boot Camp was finished, and she was a Marine, Private First Class Moretti left for Iraq, being part of the first force to invade Iraq.

By the time she came back, officially done with all things Iraq related, she received a rather suspicious call. She was offered a job with a group called Project Revenant, a team of elite mercenaries from all corners of the world, who stationed themselves in the Rogue Isles, to avoid any meddling with their group.

After a great deal of thought, Tessa agreed, and left for the Isles.

The Best Of The Best Of The Best, Sir!

Having been sent an invitation to join, you’d think they’d let you just waltz right in and start shootin’ stuff, wouldn’t you? Well, you thought wrong, and you’re obviously not merc material.

The moment Tessa got to the rendezvous point, and got in the submarine that would take her to Mercy Island, she was bombarded with all sorts of tests, mostly in the form of questions. Simple stuff at first, like her name, where she was born, what she did in Iraq, her rank, and her talent as a Marine. The last question came in the form of an actual physical test, the moment she reached Project Revenant’s headquarters on Mercy Island.

It was a simple shooting course; shoot the bad guys, save the citizens. She didn’t have the record time, but she certainly passed. And with that, she was a member. Granted, she was at the bottom of the totem pole, but she certainly did get some respect for being the second female member to ever join Project Revenant. When she learned how the last girl died, she started to regret joining.

Project Revenant

Agent Scar was her new name. It wasn’t as flashy as Agent Wallaby or ‘Sparky’, but it was a name nonetheless. It only took a month of waiting and training before her first mission. She was supposed to go out with her group to South America, find this gang leader, and take him and his people out. Scar didn’t really like the whole idea behind it, but the CEO they were picking on paid a great deal of money to put a price on every single gang member’s head.

The job was a complete success, and so were the next fifty tasks after that. Scar certainly proved herself as a reliable soldier, so reliable that the Director himself came to visit her one day. This was considered a big deal, because only three people before Scar in Project Revenant history ever met the Director, and all three of them rose to become legends, even though the newspapers say they got where they were in different ways from how it actually happened.

The Director offered Scar a chance of a lifetime, an opportunity to become a super soldier, without all the pills and muscles. She would no longer need to use a gun, being able to kill her targets with her mind. She would never have to leave the base, being able to find anyone anywhere on the world, and make them fall out of a five story building window. She would become a ghost, and the prized member of Project Revenant.

Right off the bat, she refused. She enjoyed being on the front lines, and becoming some super powered psychic was certainly something she didn’t see herself becoming.

Then, she was abducted.

The Director had his men capture her in her sleep, the very men she served, fought and laughed with. She was strapped down to a chair, and injected with all sorts of drugs. At first, all she did was kick and scream, trying to get out of the chair, and away from these people. Then, the drugs kicked in, and she was out cold.

When she awoke, she was in a dark room. Right in front of her was a table, with a single light shining down on it, like one of those police interrogation rooms you see in the movies. Scar saw a can of soda in the center of the table, and licked her dry, cracked lips. She was so thirsty.

Before she could even realize what she was doing, the can levitated over towards her. The top was ripped off, and the cold cola splashed all over her white clothes, but it also found her mouth. She greedily lapped at the floating can, trying to drink as much of the refreshing beverage as she could. Her widened eyes made her see what was happening, and she dropped the can, terrified of what Project Revenant had done to her. But that was only the beginning.

Up In Flames

For the next two years, Scar was experimented on, and pumped full of various chemicals. Every month her psionic talent increased, and so did her hate for Project Revenant. Twenty five months after the first injection, Scar was able to read the minds of every scientist in the base. Each scientist knew the plan, and tomorrow was the day they were going to execute it. With Project Revenant being such a great success, Scar would have to be silenced, so she couldn’t spread the word and ruin the project. They had found willing test subjects, people willing to throw away their lives to become the pawns of the Director.

Scar wasn’t about to allow that to happen.

An hour before the scientists were to kill her, she made her move. Ripping out of her bindings and knocking down the door to her cell with one powerful mental scream, Scar dashed out of the room, and pounded images of railroad spikes into the heads of the guards taking aim at her. The mental trauma had killed them. “The body cannot live without the mind.”

Dashing through the hallways, she soon realized she was still in Project Revenant’s base of operations, which gave her an idea. She went to the armory, despite it being well out of her way to the exit, and killed everyone in her path. With loads of C4 in her arms, she planted them all in various locations throughout the base, then ran outside of the building and set them off. The building burst into flames, and the ground underneath it (the location of the hidden base) ripped from the pressure of the explosions.

Scar was suddenly alone, dressed in nothing but one of those sheets you would get at a hospital if you were a patient there. She heard the thoughts then, the hundreds of agonizing screams of the dying, and then, everything went silent. She had destroyed Project Revenant, and she bared their Scars.

Dragging her feet through the alleyways, she bumped into a few Hellions. They grabbed their guns, but soon found their faces caving into their skulls. She took whatever clothes she could fit into, and hid, deciding that it was best to lay low for awhile.

Personality

Tessa is human.

There’s little else to say beyond that. She gets angry, and she gets sad, but she is completely capable of smiling and flirting with anyone she feels like. Nearly always seem with a devious glint in her eye, Tessa is calm and collected around clients, and carefree around those she can call friends. She’s very open to most, but she holds a great deal of distrust for the heroes of Paragon City, since Project Revenant was funded by Paragon City.

If you haven’t done anything to piss her off, Tessa will most likely be a loyal friend until the end, or until she decides it’s a good time to rip out your spine.

Appearance

With a devious grin everywhere she goes, Tessa is much like any other villainess in the Isles. Long slender legs, wholesome measurements, and a sway of the hips in her step that could make the average woman envious, Tessa is usually seen wearing the same clothes you'd expect to find on a citizen of Isles; black leather heels, tight dark blue jeans, and a grey tank top. Her hair is cut a bit past her shoulders, and naturally brown, which brings out the natural blue in her eyes. Her skin has a sun kissed tan, and almost seems completely natural on her.

When not wearing clothes that would suit a non-villain strolling down the street, Tessa dresses in form-fitting black tights, with dark red designs from her red fanged skull shoulder to stiletto toes. Around her face is a ventilator, which she thinks gives her a bit more of an ominous look. Her cape is well cared for, and seems to enjoy flapping even if she's bouncing along the street at a slow pace. If she isn’t in her villain outfit, then she is wearing her Arachnos Night Widow gear, dressed to impress the scum of Arachnos.

Clothes aside, Tessa is a beautiful woman, with a beautiful body. A looker before she became the Director’s experiment, her natural looks seem to have enhanced from the chemicals now locked in her blood. Imperfections are gone the minute they arrive, and scarring is a thing of the past. Her red lips are nearly always formed into a welcoming smile, and her buxom figure is very pleasing to the eye.

Powers

Tessa has a few powers and abilities that she meshes together and exploits for devastating effects.

Widow Training

WidowTraining PoisonDart.png Poison Dart

Extending her arm and firing one of her claws at her target, Tessa can strike at a distance with this attack, poisoning her foe and dealing quite a bit of damage.

WidowTraining Swipe.png Swipe

Tessa strikes out at her target, rending her claws through armor and flesh, while pouring her lethal poison into their system if her claws can pierce flesh.

WidowTraining Strike.png Strike

Tessa extends one of her claws to the length of the average blade and stabs at her target with it. Like all of her other claw related attacks, this blade is coated in lethal poison.

WidowTraining DartBurst.png Dart Burst

Tessa holds both of her arms out, and fires a burst of blades in a thirty degree arc cone, poisoning everything in front of her.

WidowTraining Spin.png Spin

Tessa leaps into the air and pounds the ground with her bladed fist, poisoning all targets within an eight foot radius around her.

Night Widow Training

NightWidowTraining BuildUp.png Build Up

Taking a moment to focus, Tessa can greatly increase the amount of damage she does, and her accuracy for a few seconds, destroying all foes around her with relative ease.

Teamwork

Teamwork CombatTrainingDefensive.png Combat Training: Defensive

Thanks to her military training, Tessa is much more resistant to all sorts of attacks, having a natural defense to nearly anything one can throw at her.

Teamwork CombatTrainingOffensive.png Combat Training: Offensive

Thanks to her military training, Tessa rarely ever misses with an attack, be it a swipe of her claws or a quickly fired shot of her gun.

Teamwork TacticalTrainingAssault.png Tactical Training: Assault

Her time serving with others has made Tessa a natural leader, allowing her to bolster her troops and allies just for standing in her mere presence.

Teamwork Foresight.png Foresight

With this sixth sense, Tessa is resistant to all sorts of attacks, including psionic assaults.

Widow Teamwork

FortunataTeamwork MaskPresence.png Mask Presence

Blending into the shadows, Tessa can strike from any position, catching her foes unaware and destroying them by attacking their weak points.

WidowTeamwork MentalTraining.png Mental Training

By focusing her will, Tessa can move and strike faster, having an edge against the average fighter due to her increased speed.

Leaping

CombatJump.png Combat Jumping

Why duck when you can jump? Leaping over foes and attacks like they were nothing, Tessa literally bounces around the battlefield, avoiding nearly everything thrown her way, and mocking her opponents as she leaps through the air like a trained acrobat.

Jump LongJump.png Super Jump

With a powerful kick of her legs, Tessa can leap over buildings, and jump off of the surface of water, traveling great distances in a single bound!

Mind Control

MentalControl Hypnotize.png Mesmerize

Tessa can force her way into the minds of her enemies, and literally put them into a deep sleep. If they are struck, they will wake up, but they seem to be unable to hear the shouts of their dying comrades.

MentalControl Levitate.png Levitate

Lifting both of her arms, Tessa can make her target launch into the air, before being violently tugged down and slammed on the ground.

MentalControl Command.png Dominate

By turning her enemies' eyes inward, she can trap someone within their own mind, leaving them helpless until they can find a way out.

MentalControl MindControl.png Confuse

Tessa can make herself seem much more friendly to her target, and their comrades seem like backstabbers that should be killed before they harm his or her new friend.

MentalControl Freeze.png Mass Hypnosis

With a wave of her arms, Tessa can make entire groups of rampaging enemies halt completely and fall into a deep sleep.

Psionics

PsionicAssault MentalDart.png Psionic Dart

Picture a nail being slammed on by a hammer, and being rested against your head. Tessa can slow the thinking speed of her enemies, while filling their mind with mental projections of nails being pounded into their squishy brain.

PsionicAssault MindProbe.png Mind Probe

If Tessa can get her arms around you, watch out. Picture a railroad spike being slammed inside your skull, literally tearing a hole through your brain and leaving your body mindless.

PsionicAssault TelekineticThrust.png Telekinetic Thrust

With a wave of her arms, Tessa can send all foes in front of her flying backwards from the sheer will of her mind.

PsionicAssault MentalBlast.png Mental Blast

A wave of negative emotions and searing pain from a distance. Tessa can flood her foe's mind with painful images, wreaking havoc upon their synapses.

PsionicAssault PsychicScream.png Psychic Scream

Tessa can launch a terrible wail all around her, flooding the minds of all those that would do her harm, and screaming inside their minds, clawing away at their brains.

CQC

Brawl.png Brawl

Being a soldier isn't all guns and explosives. One has to know how to hold their own when they drop their knife or can't punch buildings down with their super strength. Tessa has been trained to have a strong understanding of close quarters combat, and she is much better up close than at a range against all sorts of foes.

Throwingknives.png Throwing Knives

When someone is running away, it's good to have something you can throw at them. Small and light, Tessa is a master at throwing knives, able to hit a moving target in the back of the head before they can turn the corner and escape.

Ring of Arcul

Temporary ResonanceDisrupter.png Ring of Arcul

Stolen from the hero Rey'va Zirrire, Tessa has unlocked a few of the secrets within his ring. The most useful in her opinion is the ability to become insubstantial. While nothing can harm her, she cannot harm anything else, and it is a painful transition to go back and forth, which is why she only uses it when she needs to, or when she doesn't need to shift back for quite awhile.
