In-game Biography

Rex Thomas was just a thug out for a little more pie. Supers got it made, that's the truth. They said the genetic experiments would give him cat-like reflexes, so he signed on. And in a sense, they were right. But Rex didn't want to turn INTO a dang cat!

Pissed off and now having to deal with a world of fleas and pissing in a sandbox, Rex decided that at least the super powers shouldn't be put to waste. But he's gonna hit it big on his terms this time. And who knows? Maybe he'll get his claws on one of those monkey bastards that made him this way. Hopefully these stolen electric super-weapons will give him that extra boost.

Look out world, Rex is back, and needs himself a new scratchin' post.

Tenure

It's always been hard trying to score a little scratch in Paragon City. What wealth isn't tied up in the rich and fabulous is always getting hoisted by the mobs of petty crooks lining the gutters of this place. Sure, some people get along by keeping their heads down, but for the rest of us alleycats, we have to survive by our more primal instincts.

Oh, don't look so surprised that a chump like me turned to crime. I was young and kinda buff, and I kept a low profile. After I looted a few cars and lifted off a parked delivery truck, I was starting to get a little bit of the pie for myself. It didn't take long for some bigger fish to notice, and before you know it, I'm running with a small crew. Making payoffs, pulling in some more serious coin. And then Captain Phenomenal shows up. I take a few less-than-painless super-jabs to the ribcage, and land in the Zig for a spell. My DNA gets put on file, I do my time, and then get spit out on the other side of the war walls to enjoy exile from so-called paradise.

But it's not like you don't meet fellas in the joint. After I heard about this crazy scientist named Doctor Ondine, I had to look him up. He welcomed me into his lab a bit too eagerly, dropped me on a slab and promised me cat-like reflexes. A few blood, hormone and marrow transfusions later, along with a painful rehab stint, and I'm better than ever. Except, y'know, for not being human anymore.

So it's not all bad. I miss my handsome mug some days, but the perks make up for the fleas and hairballs. I can leap like nobody's business and still land on my feet. My punches have a real ka-pow factor to them, and I'm not the easiest beastie to catch, neither.

Ondine had me pay through the nose, but he also gave me a tip on how to really make a killing, and aimed me towards some of his scientific competitors. I hoisted more than enough loot to pay out my debt, and found some really slick electro-whoozits at the same time. Now my fur might have that static look to it sometimes, but I can put a heck of a jolt through anyone who tries to touch me without asking.

Mutant superpowers matched with cutting edge stolen technology. Now I have everything those caped boys in blue have on the other side of the fence. And once I get back in there, I'm gonna put a few goody-two-shoes back in their place.

Roleplay elements

Rex is a villain, but he's far from dastardly. He's mostly just a misunderstood guy who can't hold his tongue. He has a fair amount of built up frustration for things never going his way.

Rex bartends regularly at the upstairs blue bar in Pocket D, or the Chalet during the holidays. It is the best of times. As self-coined the nickname "El Gato Grande".

Some days he enjoys being part cat, some days he resents it.

Trivia

Rex is @Lemmo's first villain to make it past level 35, and may become his first redside 50. Time will tell.

For no good reason, @Lemmo dislikes playing villains. Rex's ambivalent nature makes it somewhat palatable.
