History

Spoiler warning: Details about story arcs or other game content follow.

Early Life

Rihdan was born several years after his brother Elyk to a kind family in Oslo, Norway. Raised to hold family as a very important part of his life, he grew very attached to his mother, his father, and his brother. Both siblings, while seemingly complete opposites in demeanor and personality, still supported each other and played with one another, fostering a relationship that their older parents were proud of. Rihdan also got along exceptionally well with both of his parents, who, despite them both having to put a grueling number of hours into the family business, promoted eating at the table during dinnertime and family nights together.

Always the brain, Rihdan took more into art, math, and science while Elyk grew more into the hobbies of his father. Rihdan never understood automobiles, their ins and outs, but he did extraordinarily well in school and got incredibly good grades. Their relationship continuing to grow deeper, Rihdan went out of his way often to draw his brothers' favorite muscle cars, which adorned his siblings' side of the room. This, he took great pride in.

As they continued to grow up, Rihdan and Elyk both participated in the growing family business. His father owned a body shop, and while Elyk immidiately dove into the heavy duty fixing of the cars and taking any attempt to get his hands dirty, Rihdan helped manage the financial and technological side of things, using his knowledge of computer systems to build easy to use databases to manage the business's growing financial complexities.

At the end of adolescence, both siblings' worlds were shoved down the path of sadness as their parents died in a fatal car crash involving a drunk driver. The business collapsed in their grief.

Adulthood

After both he and his brother got all their ducks in a row once more, they decided to start anew, moving together to the United States and Paragon City in Rhode Island. Taking little time to settle in, they rented an apartment and a bit of space down the road to open a garage where they once again pursued their old talents together.

Elyk acting as the head and only mechanic, Rihdan took it upon himself to once again manage the technological and financial side of things. His brother was extremely talented in what he did, and their business flourished once again. The work was hard, but it was an easy distraction from the loss that they had experienced while they were living in Europe.

They both kept few friends, and instead relied heavily upon one another. They remained a support net for each other, and they spent every waking moment of free time with one another. With some exceptions. Elyk, for example, spent a good deal of time a the gym while Rihdan maintained his attachment to art. He would often tag along with his brother, never touching the machines and cardiovascular equipment, holding a sketchbook in hand while they conversed.

Weekends were full of movies and, oftentimes, they would try to mingle with each others interest. Rihdan, try as he may, attempted sports activities here and there, while Elyk picked up a joystick and cursed at the television set. Both, eventually, became fairly diversified in this sense.

While they never got to know many others outside of their own personal circle, both were happy and became very content with their lives.

Capture

On their weekly visit to the bank to deposit their earnings, Rihdan and Elyk patiently waited in line, sharing the humorous stories seen throughout the week. They hadn't expected to come face to face with an armed robbery.

Yet on this fateful day, both found themselves in the middle of a panicked evacuation. Screams of customers filled the facility, the alarms were triggered, the heroes supposedly on their way. All of the civilians were shoved, the two brothers included, toward the vault where they would be safe.

Chaos ensued regardless, and the smaller Rihdan was near trampled underneath the rapid footsteps of the frightened bank patrons. He felt the hand of a stronger man on his shoulder helping him up, but instead of turning to find his brother, he stared straight into the face of a masked man, who raised the end of his rifle, and brought it down onto Rihdan's head.

Everything went black.

Experimentation

He awoke in a cell, his lithe body burning. His vision was blurred, his mind in disarray as he tried to get his bearings. The first person he could think to call for was his brother...

... who shared the room with him, by the groan that he heard to his right.

The two of them had been apprehended by what was later identified as the Council. Oddly enough, they were fed decent meals, and kept hydrated. They weren't being kept for information. They weren't being kept as fodder. They had purpose, or so they were repeatedly told as they were forced to hold still and take a needle-full of some odd substance into their bodies every day at the midnight hour.

Elyk fought back with all his strength every dose, Rihdan simply sat and took it, trying to keep his brother calm. There was nothing that he felt he could do. There was no solution that he could see to employ.

As the days went on, the experiments progressed, and they were attached to strange machines. Rihdan assumed that it was to measure vitals, as he had lost a lot of weight, as had his brother. If they were so concerned with their health and safety, however, it was unclear as to why they were being treated like caged animals.

Elyk was soon allowed to work out on a set of equipment they had provided to him, and Rihdan was taken to do several other tests, thankfully no longer involving needles. He questioned why they were doing what they were doing, and got nothing but vague answers. The Council seemed to be buttering them up, telling them of new destinies. Rihdan and Elyk saw right through it.

They did, however, use it to their advantage, and when the time was right, they made their move.

Escape, Recapture, and Escape Yet again

Elyk and Rihdan felt terrible having to deceive themselves like this, but it was the only way that they would felt they could ever get away from the Council's grasp. They built trust in their captors, and pretended as though they were falling right into their little scheme. They recited their doctrine, and participated willingly in everything that they asked of them.

It was to the point that they were allowed to take walks around the facilities together. Under supervision at first, then without. They hoarded a few small tools, and eventually, when they felt they were able, triggered a fire alarm in one end of the facility, and worked together to try to bust a lock on a door to get to safety.

Things weren't as easy as planned, however, and Elyk grew increasingly impatient. His hair bristled, and he snarled almost like a wolf would. Using his brute strength, he kicked open the door, which flew near off its hinges with his strength. Rihdan not wanting to ask any questions at this point in time, followed after him as they dashed out into the streets. They thought they had their freedom.

Knowing they had to get as far away from their place of captivity as possible, they tried to flag down a cab driver. When he saw their condition, the driver refused to take them anywhere. Elyk, seemingly caught in the moment, felt his pent up rage once again take a massive leap forward. He grabbed the driver, brutalized his body with his bare hands, and then took off in the cab with his now very frightened brother in the back seat.

The Council was now the least of their problems as they tried to escape the Paragon Police and heroes. A car wasn't any match though for Paragon's finest, and both were apprehended.

Tried for first degree murder, Elyk was convicted, and much to the anger of the larger, now very bitter man, so was his brother as an accomplice. Both were sent to prison. Both were given life to serve in jail.

This seemed to be the end of the line for both of them. Having gone from small, Norwegian family members to jail birds in an instant due to the Council's interference. They never knew that it was their interference once again that gave them an opportunity to get out of the cells they had been confined to once more. The Council, of course, had no intention of losing their two new test subjects, and thusly, they decided to raid the prison itself to find the two brothers.

Alarms and bells wailed and rang throughout the facility. Inmates scrambled to escape. Rihdan and Elyk once again took this as their chance at freedom. Elyk grabbing a riot shield and wrench, as well as a coat to disguise his prison outfit, Rihdan right behind him, they followed the others on a new path to freedom.

Their destination this time was far from home.

It was the Rogue Isles that they made their way to.

Changed, Forever.

They found "safety" within the territory of Arachnos, far away from the juresdiction of any hero or police department, far away from where anyone could tell them that they were 'wrong' for what they did. Elyk was far beyond enraged that his sibling of all people had to suffer right alongside him when he had nothing to do with the murder of that man to begin with, but Rihdan reassured him that they were brothers, and as their entire life had been led, they would walk this new path together.

Rihdan grew increasingly worried about his brothers mental state, however. Further into anger and rage he seemed to descend, Rihdan keeping a firm hold on his sanity throughout the ordeal regardless.

Both turned their attention to Council. Something had been done to them, that much was apparent, and both of them intended to find out what. The picked up leads as to the whereabouts of their bases of operation upon the Rogue Isles, and one at a time, they both infiltrated and sought information about just what had happened to them.

Despite all this, their conditions worsened.

One after another after another, they shut down the Council's operations, and day after day, they felt themselves sinking deeper into the recessed pit that they had been dug into by the experiments that had been performed upon them. Neither had the faintest idea what was happening, but they felt that they were able to look beyond it to fulfill their goals and desires of revenge.

That was until a fateful day came.

Having traced an important lead to a small group of Council in the sewers underneith the Port, Rihdan and Elyk both felt themselves on the brink of seemingly losing themselves. Their mind reeled, their bodies felt as though they were going to explode from the inside out. They pushed on regardless, adamant that perhaps this would be the end of their search.

The truth, however, made itself known before they ever made it to their destination.

Both collapsed on the pavement, gripping their bodies as their felt something happening. Something strange. Something painful. They held each other as they felt one another shifting. Transforming. Clothing shredded apart, falling to the ground around them in pieces. Physical strength took leaps and bounds. Digits shifted and morphed, as the two brothers lost the most treasured asset that they could have ever been born with. Their humanity.

Wolves. Two humanoid wolves. Though they were different than most other warwolves. Proportioned as humans, sporting canine snouts, a full body of fur and muscle, claws on hands and feet without much warping having happened to the digits, both seemed to be the perfect harmony of wolf and human.

Near Present

Taking their changes in stride, the two brothers struggle to maintain the humanity that had been overtaken by these new, foreign bodies. Their support is one another, and their goal remains the same.

Revenge against those that did this to them.

The WarWolf

A Council WarWolf. Large, lumbering, and overt. Before the Council's New Experiment
Rihdan, as a WarWolf. The Result of the Council's New Experiment.

Unknown to Elyk and Rihdan, the Council had sought to use the both of them as guinea pigs to a new experimental breed of warwolf. As it stands now, the Council's endeavors with Lycanthropy leave the archons in bodies blessed with strength that surpassed any human being and a pain tolerance that would make the most hardened of heroes.

What it lacked was subtlety, and any power beyond that which its body gave them. The Council sought to change that. Elyk and Rihdan were to be the first steps.

Both were treated with strains that were intended to alter their physical forms, but both were given different direction as to how their mutation was to progress. Rihdan's abilities and Elyk's strength were just what the Council was looking to bring out of the two. Different, yet similar. Both new weapons to be used against their foes.

They were meant to change and develop under the Council's care. This didn't happen. Now, the newly born, altered Warwolves have a mind to use what they were given against those that did this to them.

Physical Description

What Was: His Human Self

Physical Appearance

Rihdan's human self isn't much to look at. Tall, yes, but thin, with little to no muscle structure upon his body at all. His face is young in its appearance, and he sports a round pair of glasses to help him see. These have been discarded after adopting his wolven form, as his senses sharpened well beyond needing them.

His hair is a deep black in color, and his eyes are a blueish shade.

The human, at this point in time, is long gone.

Clothing and Adornments

Rihdan wore nothing special. A pair of khaki pants here, a simple t-shirt there. His glasses were never too expensive, yet they allowed him to see. His attire spoke volumes of his simple life.

What Now Is: His Wolven Form

Physical Appearance

Rihdan, at first glance, would appear as a rather powerful human would: tall, broad, and muscular. His posture is that of a normal and regular human being, standing straight upon two legs with a proud aura surrounding him. Though upon close inspection, you would be able to see the wolven features that are very easily distinguishable, despite the still human frame.

He is taller than most would consider "normal", nearing eight feet, covered head to toe in a deep, dark, ebony black fur coat. The human hair that once adorned his head has grown to a length that reaches down near the lower sections of his back, forming a mane of sorts, and his hands and feet sport paw like pads upon his palms, with claws upon every finger and toe.

The power of the transformation has also granted him the physique of great heroes, and while still lagging behind his much larger brother, Rihdan's body still houses what might be seen as an envious amount of strength in comparison to the average civilian. Chest, shoulders, arms, waist, legs; not a single part spared from the WarWolf's physical power, allowing him to keep pace when needing to exert himself in aid of his allies.

His icy blue eyes reflect his ability to form ice from the moisture around him, sometimes glowing with that frigid blue when he is seen to be angered, and his ears are oddly long and large for a wolf, though not abnormally so.

Clothing and Adornments

Rihdan dresses in ways that hide his wolven features as best as he is able. He wears a mask to cover his snout and wears somewhat normal clothing oftentimes to hide the hair that covers his body. Dark pants, long sleeve shirts, and a pair of shoes that are too big for his feet to mask his claws.

When out and about seeking answers, however, he has found a leather suit that he can wear to help protect his body and hands from numbing when using his powers. He also wears this to make him appear more daunting and intimidating.

He has considered getting his wolven ears pierced, but has yet to pursue it. He has also, with the help of a more spiritually attuned individual, taken a few charms to carry with him for good luck.

Personality and Temperament

Rihdan comes across as being a very emotionless, cold, and uncaring individual. His voice is flat and even, firm, and spoken directly, despite it always seeming to be in a soft spoken tone. His voice carries icy undertones much the same, sounding chilled, cold, and emotionless.

That doesn't mean, however, that he is a heartless individual. As a matter of fact, quite the opposite is true. If you were to shatter the facade that he puts on to keep he and his brother safe, as well as their motives to find revenge against the Council, you would find a man who is very capable of caring, loving, and expressing emotion toward those he sees as friends and allies. This is more easily seen in how he acts around his brother at times, who begrudgingly takes a good deal of affection from his younger sibling, despite them now appearing as giant, bipedal wolves.

Powers and Abilities

Temperature Manipulation

The Council's experiments upon Rihdan had a different goal than that which they had for his brother. Rihdan, while still sought to be physically able in his wolven form after transforming, was given other abilities well beyond super strength and physical ability.

While unable to grant powers that are quite as fantastic as seen in some of the heroes of Paragon or Villains of the Rogue Islands, Rihdan manages to do some rather impressive things with his abilities.

Within his direct sphere of influence (that being mostly within the reach of his paw), Rihdan is able to manipulate the temperature of things from anywhere between frigid cold and boiling hot. This means that, by all rights, he could freeze a tank of water if he could touch it, or boil the water within under the same circumstances.

This allows him to do a number of things, most of which he figured out were possible by complete accident.

In contrast to this however, the ability works in an opposite fashion. That being: By warming the body of his comrades, he is able to stimulate an immune response, soothing wounds and healing those who are suffering. This power is still developing, and is growing stronger by the day.

Physical Capabilities

Rihdan is far from having what others would classify as "super strength". But that doesn't mean that he is a pushover. The transformation has given him a great deal of physical strength, allowing him to hold his own in hand to hand combat if necessary. He is also more than capable of moving and lifting heavy objects, or, in some situations, moving others, be it to help them from a situation that they've fallen in combat, or to hurl them away if they intend on hurting him.

The Rage

Some things are never perfect. Neither was the experiment that befell Rihdan and his brother Elyk. When enraged, his body alters yet again to become more like the warwolves that are frequently seen amongst council raids, but not lacking the power that was given him as a result of the special treatments and serums.

While angered, though not necessarily transformed in this circumstance, his sphere of influence also grows by leaps and bounds. No longer does something have to be within his direct vicinity to manipulate. A frightening sight to behold, when enraged as he was, an entire street froze over, as well as the walls of the buildings that surrounded it.

When he comes down from this rage, he will revert back to his more natural state, still no longer human, but by no means as frightening as catching him this way.
