Rose in Summer was created because a friend teased me that he was going to make Rose in Summer to celebrate when Rose in Winter reached 40. To prevent this, I took the name. The character has turned out to be more fun than I thought; her personality varies wildly from any of my other characters. Most of my characters are smart, strong, sarcastic women -- and Summer seems (note I say seems) to be none of those things.

You'll never meet a villain with a sweeter nature than the delightfully naieve Rose in Summer. Nice as she can be to everyone (and anything) she comes across, Summer (as she prefers to be called) is endlessly energetic and sympathetic. She's far more interested in you than in talking about herself. She is delicate, slight in height and curvy in form, with wide eyes, high cheekbones, and mouth set in a soft pout. Her whole demeanor is that of sweet little girl, or "babe in the woods." She seems a little lost in the Rogue Isles -- or perhaps in the world.
Until she faces an enemy. She always requests that foes surrender, explaining she really doesn't want to hurt anyone. Alas, seeing a tiny girl in an even tinier outfit makes her opponents laugh and rush at her -- at which point they usually find themselves flying backwards as Summer uses her powers to toss them around. Anyone who attacks from a distance faces debilitating blasts of energy. Anyone who comes close, Summer sends soaring across the room with powerful walls of energy. Summer keeps herself and anyone working with her in fighting trim with blasts of a healing warmth, stemming from her ability to use and bend the Earth's natural radiation. Her battle cries are, "I gave you a choice!" and "Say you're SORRY!" Foes often end up surrendering to the pretty girl with the homicidal tendencies...she's sweet enough to let them go alive, as long as they apologise for attacking in the first place.
What a sweetheart.

Character History
Rose in Summer is a conceit dreamed up by the Mage Vesper Halifax -- known as the Mercenary and Information Broker Vespertilia. It's much, much harder to believe a doll-faced platinum blonde with big blue eyes of wrongdoing than it is a tall, grey-skinned woman of generally grotesque appearance. Vesper's study of magic has allowed her to add the ability to tap into the ley lines of the earth and draw power from them, as well as open dimensional rifts and pull things -- it doesn't bother her that they aren't _her_ things -- through to toss them around. Vesper created Rose in Summer for when she needs to plead innocent to something with her trademark on it -- no one is going to suggest Vespertilia committed the crime when the perp was petite and pretty with different powers. Summer, of course, never gets in trouble -- a little bit of denying, a little bit of crying, and a lot of flirting goes a long way with the crooked RIP cops.
