Roxy Cotton is a new character based off an old concept I never really got to have much fun with. So I pretty much took the old character, gave her a new alias, some new powers, and we'll see where it goes from here. I did some minor research on Women's Wrestling when making the original character, but if you happen to interact with her, please don't expect her player to know everything you talk about when it comes to wrestling. =)

Character History

Early Life

Shortly after her mutation manifested, Dania ran away from home at the age of 12 and joined up with a traveling circus that toured throughout North America. Dania eventually became a one woman show, entertaining the customers with her displays of strength, agility, and acrobatics. During her time off between shows, Dania would train with a few others in different forms of martial arts over the years. To earn some side money, the young female would often attend local bars and hustle very large men to grapple her for money. During one of these hustles, a scout from a Professional Wrestling organization saw her in action and offered her a contract to come train and perform with his company. Although a minor at the time, the mature looking girl signed the contract and lied about her true age.

Rise and Fall of a Champion

After training to wrestle for about a year, Dania finally made her professional debut on TV under the gimmick name Roxy Cotton (given to her by the companies writing team). She instantly became a fan favorite with her power and high flying. Roxy eventually became so good at the sport, she even started wrestling against some of the men from the roster and showed that women could be just as good at the sport. Roxy reached superstar status when at the biggest pay per view of the year held in Paragon City, she won the Women's World Championship from long time undefeated champion Tequila Mockingbird. With a new high figure contract, being the biggest seller in merchandise, and even talk of a book about her life, Roxy found herself on a big press tour which had her doing multiple TV and Radio interviews across North America.

While sitting in as a guest on a popular morning talk show, Roxy thought it would be a great time for her to become an even more positive role model by admitting her mutant background and encourage other evolved humans to not be afraid to come out. The reaction to her national announcement was everything opposite of what Roxy was hoping for. Almost over night Roxy's loud cheers turned into rude jeers. Her merchandise went from best seller to least selling. Her pending book deal was shelved, magazine covers were changed, her talk show appearances were canceled, and she began to receive tons of hate mail each week. With attendance now taking a hit and anti mutant organizations picketing the arenas, the wrestling company decided they now needed to get rid of Roxy. After weeks of trying to figure a way to fire the star without bringing on a lawsuit, the company was able to release Roxy because of her being under the age of 18 at the time she originally signed her contract extension (which happened to be overlooked when she signed her deal).

Roxy took what money she had remaining and moved back to Phoenix. The next few months were rough on Roxy as she couldn't get work in most entertainment fields. With her dreams crushed and her money running out, Roxy turned to drinking and drugs. Needing some kind of work, she began moonlighting for different crime organizations after she proved she could be affective muscle for them. Roxy would again capture the media spotlight one last time when she made the news after being arrested in a drug trafficking sting, crossing the border into the United States with large quantities of illegal drugs.

From Prison to The Rogue Isles

After being sentenced to 8 years in prison, Roxy was transferred to Ziggurat Prison in Paragon City, to better deal with her mutant abilities. During the mass prison break by Arachnos to extract their "chosen one", Roxy was lucky enough to barter a deal to escape with the Arachnos extraction team when she killed an Arachnos soldier and declared she was taking the soldier's spot on the transport. Nobody disputed her claim and hours later she was free in the Etoile Isles.

Personality

Any characters that have knowledge of TV sports and entertainment might recognize Roxy from her past as a one time popular pro wrestler. Her "coming out" as a mutant on national TV made waves in the media as well as the pro and anti mutant rites movements. These days Roxy is bitter after what she went through in her time after living in the spotlight. Once in the Rogue Isles, Roxy decided to keep her former ring name as a nod to her past. Roxy also wears similar outfits to the ones she once wore in the wrestling ring when doing her jobs around the isles. It's not rare to see Roxy wearing her Championship Belt (which she never lost), warpaint, spandex tights, and her trademark bulky woolly wrestling boots. If recognized by her past as wrestler, Roxy is more then happy to acknowledge it. She does tend to get agitated if someone compares her like she is a has been. Roxy has always felt strongly about mutant rites and the negative views most of the world has against her kind outside Paragon City and the Etoile Isles.

Roxy still thinks she is a star and never has come to grips that her star burned out years ago. Roxy can be a heavy drinker and often turns to alcohol to hide how miserable her lifestyle has become. As someone that used to get hit with chairs and thrown through tables for a living, Roxy is definitely an adrenaline junkie and is probably why she took the quick road to crime after her downfall, the easy money didn't hurt either. Roxy does have a very bad spending habit, if she lands a good paying score, it won't be long til she blows the money on designer clothes and other high priced items.

When fighting, Roxy uses lots of wrestling holds and animated strikes. It's also not rare to see her take huge risks like diving off a high balcony on to a pile of enemies. She doesn't like to kill, but has done so to defend herself or if the money was to good to turn down.

Roxy was born in the United States and is of Dominican, Mexican-American heritage. She is also bilingual, as she can speak both English and Spanish fluently. Sadly, her player can not.

Appearance

If Roxy Cotton was ever portrayed in a live action movie, she would be portrayed
Actress Dania Ramirez as Roxy Cotton
by actress Dania Ramirez (pictured right), who was also an influence on her physical appearance.

Powers

Roxy's power allows her to suck in the light around her body, consume it, and then convert it into dark energy that she has to release. This power is passive and starts to become visible to the naked eye the more she concentrates on consuming the light. While she can store the energy for a few seconds, Roxy has to release the energy in bursts fairly quickly or she will be at risk of passing out.

Super Strength

Even when she isn't concentrating, Roxy is still as strong as a male power lifter. The more light she brings in, the stronger her burst of strength will become. She can lift heavy objects like a boulder or a car with enough focus, but she can't maintain holding these objects and is forced to quickly throw or release them. She has been witnessed to punch a vault door right off its hinges with one punch.

Power Shield

When using her abilities to suck in light, the energy surrounding Roxy is strong enough to deflect most melee weapons and projectiles shot at her. This ability is very limited in what it can stop, but it seems to work against the weapons of the local street gangs.

Power Jumping

Sucking in enough light, allows Roxy to make quick jumping bursts over great distances.

Resistance to Cover Charges

Though her star power isn't what it once used to be, many bouncer's tend to be big fans of wrestling and know Roxy from her past. This usually allows her and any in her entourage free and instant access to most clubs.
