Ruby Fusion
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
Ruby is the second iteration of my first attempt at a tanker (one that happened to be Fire/Fire), and was almost entirely built around wanting to have bright red pigtails. (Yes, seriously). Fun Fact: Yes, she -is- named after the hair dye color.

Personality
Oldest of five children, Ruby's a tomboy at heart. Rough, tough, and stubborn as hell, she steadfastly refuses to submit to anyone or anything...or did right up until she met Redeemed Heart. Heart's presence has mellowed her somewhat, given her a reason to care about doing the right thing instead of just what she wanted. Despite her casual attitude towards life in general, Ruby takes her role as Blessed of the Dawn incredibly seriously.
Appearance
Tall, well-muscled, and just a shade shy of being flat-chested, no one will ever accuse Ruby of having a girlish figure...and she likes it that way. When not in her licensed superhero attire, Ruby tends to be found lounging around in baggy pants and cropped t-shirts, always with her favorite pair of bright red Chucks. Rumor has it that her initially-registered superhero attire consisted of bright red and bold burgundy, but since becoming a Blessed of the Dawn she has switched over to the Dawn's colors of white and gold almost exclusively.
Powers
Ruby's powers stem as much from raw stubbornness, as the gauntlets and boots that provide her with the technological edge she uses.
Energy Gauntlets
Ruby's original energy gauntlets were the prototype designed by her father nearly a decade ago during his stint as an inventor of super-powered equipment. They were solely designed to generate and release concussive energy on impact. The current version of her gauntlets have been rebuilt from scratch by Gentle Guardian, using the remnants of the original models as prototypes. Currently they are not functioning as efficiently as the originals, although progress with the design continues to be made.
Powered Boots
Ruby's powered boots (also an original design of her father's) worked in conjunction with a specially-constructed suit of flame-retardant material, and were designed to carry, release, and ignite accelerants to provide a form of full-body fire-shielding. The current model, also rebuilt, is close to functioning at original capacity, although the built-in jump jets continue to pose problems.
Character History
Ruby grew up in Paragon City, oldest of five children born to an extremely gifted inventor who spent his final days working on top-secret equipment for the City's super-hero program. Before he could finish the design, however, he was run down on the sidewalk in front of his office, the apparent victim of a hit-and-run driver. His death was officially listed as "an accident, tragic collateral damage of the City's quest for justice", if you believe that sort of thing. Ruby didn't, and neither did her mother, who steadfastly refused to provide the authorities with the location of her late husband's final research, claming that she didn't know where he had hidden it. Years later, she turned the entire collection over to Ruby, having kept it safe for her.
In the time since then and now, Ruby has perfected the art of juggling class at PCU, crimefighting, and her duties as a Blessed of the Dawn. Once one of the more effective mentors in PCU's Super-Hero Mentor Program, Ruby has refused to accept any new students since being assigned to Richard "Heart" Elinanon four years ago. After seven years of being enrolled at PCU, Ruby shows no signs of actually intending to graduate.
