Character History
Space exploration was pretty much abandoned by humanity in the Celestial Bodies' timeline due to the enormous energy expenditure involved, and the invention of Tesseract Technology in the 26th Century.
Neighbouring planets such as Mars and Venus were colonised to some extent, but any burden on the Earth's resources and space were dealt with more efficiently by folding local space to accomodate everyone.
Prospective deep space exploration was still carried out by mining corporations, but it was not as commonplace as 21st century natives had predicted. A combination of suspended animation and gene therapy to produce enhanced physical fitness allowed humans to survive the many year long journeys involved in charting out neighbouring stars and planets. The isolation was fierce, but the pay was good.
Kro Zo's parents were a prospecting duo for the mining corporation Umbra Inc. He was born three years into their journey due to an unforseen failure of their AntiPreg Meds. He was delivered successfully and with much relief, only to have the ship fall foul of a micrometeorite swarm as it approached the nearby potentially viable planet Zeta-7T9.
The ship crash landed on the jungle planet, its engines blew on impact, destroying the vessel, yet mysteriously the infant Kro survived. Local energy beings had detected the life forms on board, and had sufficient power to mutate and protect the smallest one of the three. These Zetans, now attached in a symbiotic manner to the child, taught him how to hunt and fend for himself on their lush jungle world, aided by their ability to boost his DNA to provide a variety of temporary spontaneous mutations.
He learned the native language of his surrogate parents and benefactors, the Zetans, who communicate using a series of electromagnetic frequencies. When learning English later, Kro translated these frequencies roughly into colours, naming them Red Zetan, Orange Zetan and so on.
When Kro hit puberty, he became restless, sensing an urge for others like him in some undefined way that he didn't understand. He started to scan the skies for radio transmissions, and detecting some faint signals that were encoded with artifical information coming from Earth, he sent out a reply. This distress beacon/mating call worked in that Star Girl 3000 came to investigate in her FTL jumpship. After a brief tussle on first encountering each other, the two became lovers, and have been an item ever since. Kro has become a valuable and versatile addition to the Celestial Bodies.

Personality
Rugged Boy is often mistaken for stupid, since his English is extremely basic (without accessing Indigo Zetan's Male Translation Skills) and his undertanding of humanoid culture in general is very limited.
Others see him as more of a noble savage, with a deep air of mystery and poetry to him.
He is prone to pointing out the extremely obvious at times, and also to overstepping others personal space, due to his lack of familiarity with other corporeal beings and their ways. His intentions are good however, he lacks any sort of guile or hidden motives and just enjoys what life throws at him day by day.
Powers
Rugged Boy inherits his parent space-coloniser gene modifications, and is somewhat larger and stronger than an average human, although not superhumanly so. He can bench press around 160kg unaided, and run for several hours without tiring.
Rugged Boy's Zetan entities are seven independent life-forms that have attached to his body via energetic umbilical cords. They are invisible to normal human senses but can be seen by those whose visual spectrum extends into the infra-red or radio range as vague coloured blobs orbiting his body.
They are able to modify his DNA on the spot in less than a second, effectively giving him access to a wide range of artificial mutant powers. These powers can only be activated one at a time. The seven different Zetans are responsible for different types of mutations. Sometimes he'll produce a faint visible glow around his body from the Zetan activity.
Keeping a Zetan active requires concentration, so Kro spends most of his time "clear" ie in an unenhanced state.
Red Zetan - Environmental Energy Control
Rugged Pyrokineis - the ability to raise the local temperature, producing intense flame
Rugged Cryokinesis - the ability to lower local temperatures, producing intense cold or a protective ice shell
Orange Zetan - Environmental Matter Control
Manly Terraforming - the ability to shape the local earth telekinetically
Manly Transmutation - the ability to modify the atmosphere locally, to create choking toxic gas clouds
Yellow Zetan - Body Modification Powers
Male Camoflauge Patterns - the ability to change his own pigment, or that of others, to blend into the environment.
Rugged Silence - ability to absorb sound waves in his skin, to aid stealth
Green Zetan - Physical Enhancements
Rugged Strength Rugged Boy can lift approximately 80 tons when this power is active.
Rugged Invulnerability Resistance to physical and energy attacks, and extremes of temperature. Able to withstand an anti-tank shell or superhuman punch without pain or injury
Rugged Speed Able to run at approximately 100km/h, and increased reaction time
Rugged Agility Acrobatic skills allowing flips and tumbles equivalent to an Olympic gymnast, and ability to perform a 100m high jump or 200m long jump.
Blue Zetan - Orgone Generation
Masculine Health - the ability to generate an orgone pulse to heal wounds and revive allies
Masculine Energy - the ability to generate an orgone pulse to invigorate allies and boost their powers
Indigo Zetan - Superhuman Senses
Rugged Vision - able to see through most materials selectively, and focus to distances up to 1km. Can also see an extended spectral range, from microwaves and infra-red to ultra-violet up into the high end gamma radiation range.
Male Radio Patterns - the ability to broadcast and receive radio waves, and extract or encode meaning from them.
Violet Zetan - Mental Enhancements
Masculine Translation Skills - the ability to learn a spoken or written langauge in a matter of minutes. Languages acquired with this power are not retained when it's inactive.
Rugged Computation - the ability to process huge amounts of mathematical modelling data in order to solve engineering problems. Its usefulness is hampered by its mutual exclusivity with Masculine Translation Skills, which he requires to express complex ideas.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Rugged Boy is vulnerable to surprise attacks, since he has no natural defensive powers, and does not keep his Rugged Invulnerability active most of the time.
