First Appearance
Little more than the collection of psionically charged rusted scrap metal that serves as Rusted Man's body. Over the many decades Rusted Man developed his powers in seclusion, he would focus all of his negative emotions and self loathing onto the rusting frame, but without his knowledge it would grow to hate him in return... Almost impossible to hurt, as it is like beating on a pile of old scrap metal (at the end of the day it is still going to be a pile of scrap metal).
It was freed from Rusty's control during a failed attempt to infuse Rusty with magic power. Retreating into the city it began destroying everything made of metal it could find and absorbing into into its growing body, gaining in strength. It was eventually defeated through the combined efforts of the city's heroes Grimaulkin, Kalius, Mindstryker, Mystic's Shadow, Raina Sylvir, Griff Spader and Trooper Harris in Atlas Park while it attempted to attack the Green Line train station.
Mystic's Shadow would destroy the negative emotions imprinted on Rusted shell that seemed to drive the creature to destroy, but then entity itself adapted and survived.
Control
While Rusted Man's own senses of emotion and concepts of self faded, Rusted Machine's powers and awareness seem to grow. This entity’s power was brought under Rusted Man's limited control using Grimaulkin's magic, but when this eventually failed the creature would once again resurface, this time as a simple minded, child-like brute. Demonstrating in many ways the emotions Rusted Man has lost ties to.
Separation
The creature known as the Rusted Machine was apparently destroyed when Rusted Man was returned to a human body. But the parts left behind after the conversion would later gather to reform on their own into the Rusted Machine, totally freed of the Rusted Man’s control.
