The Sadishir is what remains of the secret monster who once scourged the earth of wizard kings. Remade into a gentler being, Sadi is still a tough and formidable creature.

Affiliations

The Sadishir is a honorary member of the Brigands of Light - although, unlike the majority of the membership, she is not a magical girl or kamen, she has come to be a counter to the group's leader Blazing Angel Akiko, countering Aki's idealistic existentialism with her own mulish pragmatism. Sadi once swore to protect Sweet Song with her life, and although Song has since become a force to be reckoned with in her own right, Sadi still considers herself pledged to defend her.

Sadi's relationship with her elder daughter, the Daughter of Law, is strained at best, but they call each other occasionally. Her younger daughter, the body hosting the nictus Moonblaze, is significantly more friendly, but Moonblaze himself is less so.

Sadi tries to make some amends for her past life by mentoring younger heroes. Unfortunately, she has no understanding of tenderness and thus her lessons are brutal and terrifying affairs, as she pulls the inexperienced do-gooders into the forge of battle. Those that survive, however, cannot but admit they come out stronger.

Personality

The Sadishir is a simple creature. From her minimal speech and straightforward actions it might be assumed she is stupid. Nothing could be further from the truth - she is simply uninterested in applying more thought than necessary to the task at hand. She says no more than she must, trudges obstinately toward her goals, and lets nothing stand in her way.

Stripped of her former personality's pretense and subtlety, Sadi is both more tender and more brutal than before. She has wept openly on more than one occasion, notably when she failed to save a young woman from becoming an incubator for the Hamidon's monstrous children. On the other hand, her wrath when aroused, once tempered by tight control, is now volcanic.

Sadi harbors a great deal of shame and regret for her prior actions as a weapon of mass destruction. She wishes for a better relationship with her surviving daughters, and feels obliged to do her best to protect and shelter those who she encounters who have need of such; but, as she as nothing approaching a human maternal instinct, her kindness is often mistaken for cruelty.

Powers

Stone Affinity

With Sadi's rebirth has come a realignment of her powers. Some sort of troll or ogre seems to predominate in her makeup, and she has thereby gained mastery over stone and earth - calling it to surround her body and deflect blows, or to wrap around her hands and axe to deal out strikes with the force of a mountain falling.

Might

Sadi's body is huge - she stands a full eight feet tall and weighs over three hundred pounds - and her strength is not out of proportion to her size. She can easily lift huge boulders, and carries the great mass of her stone carapace with little difficulty.

Abilities

Burrowing

Sadi swims through earth as easily as if it were water. She is known to dive into the ground without preamble, driving up the ground above her as she drills toward her destination, then bursting from the ground in a shower of rubble.

Old Soul

Although the Sadishir has been greatly changed by her transfiguration, some remnant of the monster she once was remains asleep inside her. When called on, it rises up and lives again, producing a terrible transformation in the giantess: her skin turns coal-black, great wings emerge from her shoulders, and flame bubbles from her eyes. The old soul is no less conscious of what goes around it for all its slumber, and can be counted on to relate its own acerbic opinions on the matters at hand in the most cutting terms before returning to sleep.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Sadi is a highly straightforward thinker - excessive subtlety leaves her disinterested. She is easily led into traps, especially if she knows they are traps, because she is confident in her ability to prevail. She is emotional and, in her own way, softhearted - threatening one who she considers worthy of the protection one ought to afford a child will lead her to act immediately and decisively.

Equipment

Spellbreaker Axe

This large, two-handed ceremonial axe was Sadi's primary weapon before her transformation, and she still carries it for the occasions when its unique properties become useful. Its design repulses spells - wielded correctly, it can sunder the lines of power that give magic its force, and so it is particularly effective against the reanimated dead. It bears a striking resemblance to a weapon wielded by a certain young sorceress, but as yet no one has inquired into the connection.

Clothes

The Sadishir's hide is quite tough and she is indifferent to the elements; thus she rarely sees the need to go clothed. However, when she has ascertained that the social situation requires it, she will put on some simple clothes. These are always easily removed, as calling forth her stone carapace would otherwise shred them. Because of the horns on her shoulders, her shirts are sleeveless.

Character History

The Sadishir was created from the substance of the old monster Sadie Shear. Since her creation, she has thrown many rocks at crime, in between attempting to be a better mother to her daughters and a better mentor to young heroes.
