The Sapien Spider (Jack Clayton) is a registered superhuman hero in Paragon City. His identity is mostly secret, known to few individuals outside SERAPH. His super powers were obtained from a lab accident while attending Paragon City University. The incident, a result of sabotage, involved Superadine accidentally infused with jumping spider DNA and a modified super serum of Council origin.

Biography
Science Origin
Ordinary Jack Clayton was a hobbyist inventor with little to show for himself. He had an associates degree and several dozen impractical gadgets laying around his aunt's house. Jack was thirty when he made the responsible decision to move out and pursue a science degree at Paragon City University in Steel Canyon.
In 2009 PCU's Scientific Research Department received federal funding to study the regenerative effects of tiny amounts of medical-grade Superadine. Doctor Richard England, visiting professor and secretly a former Council member, planned to steal the formula for his own purposes. The Council discovered his plans, and several research students were caught in the cross-fire. The prototype was destroyed amid the chaos; but not before at least one student, Jack Clayton, was exposed.
Powers
After the accident, Jack found that he had gained the proportionate reflexes of a jumping spider and the superstrength of the Superadine-altered Trolls.
Equipment
Sapien Spider can see and hear over great distances using a device of his own invention that is built into his mask. His trademark faceplate is filled with home-brew audio-optic gadgetry.
Kevlar-padded gloves conceal compartments for tranquilizer launchers, Medicom and other devices.
