Something different

I made this character because I wanted an Elf. Plain and simple. But I didn't stop there.

Some spells aren't meant for children

Six years ago there was a boy who found a book. In this book were spells. He knew that's what they were supposed to be but he had no idea they were REAL ones. Determined to try one out he enlisted the aid of his younger sister. He wanted to bring someone out of a comic book. She refused to help unless she got to choose the character. Now he wanted someone cool but she chose Saya Ragehunter, an elf newly introduced into her favorite fantasy comic.

The spell went fine. It worked. Except they didn't bargain on getting an elf that would be frightened out of her mind. One that could speak English but had no idea about concrete, cars etc. She looked 14 years old and hid herself under the boys bed.

Not having a clue what to do, the kids confessed to their mom who called the local loony bin. Once there they found she believed she was an elf from the land the comic book claimed. The biggest oddity was that her memory consisted of only those things that had been written for her in the comic. Everything else she had to learn. All the basics that weren't written, as embarrassing as that may be.

Elves really are real

Two years of being in the mental hospital and she was released into the care of an elven couple from Paragon City. The drove her off in a car, tears streaming down her face. The young girl had developed a horrible fear of vehicles.

Once to her new home she spent a good year just learning how to "be", how to live life outside of that hospital. Her new mother, a soft spoken and beautiful elf, taught her to listen, to analyze and to think of the good side of things. Her new father taught her how to harness her elven power and to use a bow with tremendous skill.

A simple but enjoyable life

Good friends and first love.

Two Kindred Spirits

Saya's mother introduced her to books and the love for them began. The young elf met someone at the local library. An artist, a personal friend of the librarian, was visiting and also loved books. They started talking and a friendship began. Nevie (Ms. Drama), a vivacious woman full of life, was the opposite to Saya's quiet and contemplative self. Together they made quite a duo, facing life with smiles and interest.

When Nevie took a position at The Zenvious Foundation and when she did, she took Saya along for the ride. As an assistant she helped her with planning and with organizing both the Drama classes Nevie was teaching and doing the odds and ends of taking care of the Foundation's library. This made her happy. Always quiet she made new friends slowly but those she made she gave her trust.

One such friend was Jet Falcon. Coming to the classroom for a private drama lesson, Nevie left Saya to do the explanation and teaching. She had Jet perform parts of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. He was able to speak with such anger and wrath which intrigued the elven woman. They began talking and that began a close friendship of conversation, trust, understanding and honesty that is a rare find in the world. The consider themselves to be brother and sister in that regard.

More than a friend

A young man who she spent time with was Aaron (Sentrosi). Once a member of the Foundation he was a quiet person with a big heart. He took time to enjoy the simple pleasure of life she enjoyed such as reading aloud and swimming. They traded knowledge. He teaching her cooking and her giving him archery lessons.

Eventually he expressed feelings for her, a desire to move towards a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. She, however, didn't grasp what that meant. Love and sex being something a comic book existence just didn't prepare you for. So he said he'd wait. A little pressure but not much was given. They spent a wonderful Valentine's Day together and continued to enjoy each other's company.

However, there came a time when he went missing. Where he went was left a mystery to her but when he returned he wasn't the same Aaron who'd left. More sure of himself he made it abundantly clear what he wanted from her and seemed to need her less. This was confusing to her and left her not understanding what to do. She discussed things with Jet but before she could speak with Aaron about her thoughts and feelings he was gone. To where? She doesn't know, though she hopes he's alright and happy wherever he is. There are times she wonders what would have happened if she'd understood and been less herself.

Good things come to pass

.. as they always do.

A Future purpose

Though she is a registered hero, Saya passed her GED and enrolled in the Spring Semester of PCU with a major in Psychology. She's found the classes interesting, proving to be an excellent student. She shares some of her classes with Helen St. James (Saint Helen), another member of the Foundation. Her goal: to spend to future helping those around her, heroes and non-heroes alike, to find acceptance, understanding and purpose in their lives.

Something blossoms

Saya spent a good deal of time with Mike Mars (Hero Prime) and it came to pass that the two decided to try a relationship. The experience was new, yet she embraced it wholeheartedly. The pair seemed to fit both personality-wise and goal-wise. They moved in together and after a year or so considered marriage.

Saying Goodbye

An elf arrived at PCU, intercepting Saya. On sight she knew that the woman before her was her sister. There were hugs and tears- an overwhelming of emotions that Saya had never really felt before.

"Come home," Mira says.

Home? The comic book world had been real and without one of the heroines, without someone essential to the core of the world's magical existence, it would be doomed. While her sister worked with Lore to set up the portal home, and to ensure that it would be sealed behind them, Saya told the man she loved and the man she saw as a brother. They and the Keller family saw her off, witnessing the ritual that would send her away forever.

As she faded from view, her hand in her sister's, she tilted her head. Then she was gone.
