Personality

Jon was a typical optimistic college student, willing to help wherever and however he could. Every cloud had its silver lining, and there was always something to laugh about. Even in his darkest hour, about to become spare parts for a pair of Vahzilok doctors, he was laughing about the predicament. Albeit a bit ruefully.

The Kheldian Shehtharas on the other hand was a very serious, and studious mind before his bond. A dour and dire personality, but with unwavering resolve to help those in need.

It was their urge to help that brought the two together to create the bonded being, calling itself Sentinel Omega. Though he continues to go by the name Jon, not wishing to distance himself from his family, friends, and loved ones, he is true to both his past selves. He retains the optimism of Jon, the ability to joke at anything, smile, and see the bright side of life, yet is tempered by the seriousness of Shehtharas.

Powers

Jon had no powers before his bond, but has quickly learned ways to mimic the powers of others with his control over Kheldian light energy. He is capable of channeling great quantities of it, and due to his passenger has gained superhuman levels of fitness and regeneration. After falling in battle, he will often stand right back up in a burst of light and claim that he has "gotten up from worse".

Like all Kheldians, he has gained the ability to shift into alternate forms. He seems more comfortable in the Dwarf state, possibly because its similarity to his normal human form. The Nova state seems to disturb him slightly, and he has often commented on how many people seem to fear him simply because he turns into a flying alien tentacle monster, albeit jokingly.

Abilities

Jon is a musician, primarily playing instruments from the brass family, though he has had some training in classical piano. A full and strong bass voice and a joy for singing also was what drew him to Paragon City in the first place, seeking to train and "Make it big" in the City of Heroes.

Shehtharas, on the other hand introduced a love to tinker, and invent in his host. Through this Jon has begun to fashion a suit of armor that will use his own kheldian energy as a power source for its various systems. The suit is often damaged, and constantly in need of repair, however it has proven useful during several missions where one of its many tinkered tools and items made a difference.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Like all Kheldians, he is inherantly weak to Quantum energies set upon the correct frequency. He descibres the sensation as "Trying to rip yourself apart from the inside out", and is not far off the mark as that is what it is truly doing.

Despite living among friends literally oozing magic out their every pore, Jon doesnt seem to understand, or fully comprehend magic. Despite constant attempts to teach him, he simply smiles, nods, and moves on to his latest tinkered timesink.

Equipment

Jon's armor is effectively a giant battery slot, with him as the battery. Capturing, converting, and using excess kheldian energy leaked when he uses his powers, the armor is capable of enhancing his natural abilities slightly, providing mechanical gain where once he had to rely on pure brute strength. The armor houses several modules built to aid in the defense of himself and others, all while scanning and monitoring the battlefield for threats, and points of interest. Though constantly in need of repair, the suit is a labor of love for Jon and several of its more basic functions have been built into his other suits.

His goggles use the simple HUD compacted down into a much smaller and refined state as that in the helmet, and his wristbands contain small items and charging packs to assist in fixing broke devices which may provide clues to his investigations. The shoulderguards are small containers where odds and ends may be stored for later use. His belt has a homing beacon built into it as well as the main hardware that is connected to the rest of his suit through the special material it is made of.

Character History

Jon Christopher Harris was born to his loving parents James and Rebecca Harris in a small Georgian town in the middle of nowhere. His life was a happy one, raised in relative comfort and safety. Ordinary, and plain in almost every way, he left his life at home to move to Paragon City and follow his dream of becoming a musician with his parents blessing.

It was in Paragon that he met Luna Tanera, and also where he started getting involved with helping others when and where he could. The Rikti War caused a great deal of strife, and in its aftermath even ordinary people like Jon could be heroes, and so he immersed himself in community projects and volunteer help. It was after one such act of aid that his life was changed.

While walking back to his dorm late one evening he was accosted by two Vahzilok doctors who were out looking for fresh limbs for their creations, and Jon was exactly what they were looking for. In his attempts to escape he was hit by a paralytic dart and was about to succumb when he was offered a choice by what was then, a mysterious light. He could join with it, and become something far greater than he was then, or the light would attempt to buy him some time to escape on his own. Jons own need to help overrode his sense of fear and in the instant of his choice he became Brightstrike. Thrashing the men who were trying to kill him, he escaped back to his dorm, and began to come to grips with who, and what he was now.

With the aid of Luna, his closest friend, he came to grips with that and began to seek a heroing license, the need to help others still strong in his new form. Registering himself under the code name "Sentinel Omega" he started to fight the crime of the city. A normal boy becoming a super hero.
