Personality
Judging from her appearance alone people would think Shadewing was cold and distances herself from others; That assumption couldn't be more wrong. Her personality is quite unlike her appearance; her voice is cheerful, she enjoys hanging out with friends as well as helping other people. You would get a completely different attitude from her if she had even the slightest hint that you meant harm to her or the people she knows; she can become ruthless and downright cruel.
Description
Being part bat, Shadewing shares much in common in the way of appearance with the flying mammals. Her skin is a grayish tone and she prefers to wear dark clothing, which can make her hard to see at night or in the shadows. Little black bat ears seem to rest gently upon her head, colors matching with her hair; a similar shade of black but with a dark red tint. She wears a black mask, which, along with her hair, serve to hide her face; the only visible features being her blue eyes. She has a pair of bat wings strong enough to allow free flight protruding out of her back.
Background
Shade was raised in a normal family in Galaxy City, nothing unique about them, except that when Shadewing grew older, she found that she could control darkness in all forms. Because of this, she quickly signed up to become a hero, though that didn't last long.
While patrolling Faultline, she was captured and sent to a lab in an unknown location, where they ran tests and injected her with bat DNA, turning her into what she is now. On the positive side, a side effect of the experiments ran on her allows her to summon forth her shadow to help defend her when needed, though sometimes it has a mind of its own, and once Shadewing even had to battle it all over Kings Row before finally subduing it.
Vernon Von Grun
Vernon Von Grun is Shadewing's main adversary. He was the one in charge of turning her into a bat hybrid, and she still holds a grudge against him for it; not only for physical but for mental reasons as well, as her transformation has had an adverse effect on her relations with her family and past friends. Her main goal is to defeat him; sending him to prison or otherwise.
Family
Shadewing's relationship with her family has been shaky ever since her powers emerged on her 13th birthday. Her family had never liked mutants and non-humans much, even though there are traces of mutation throughout Shade's family tree. Still, her family tried to cope with the fact that their daughter was a mutant, though there was always a certain amount of dislike and distrust. The main reason Shadewing spent so much time in Faultline was to lower the tension between her family and her, and when she was captured at the age of 17 and experimented on, it was as if the final line was drawn: She knew that if she went back to her home looking like she did, she would more than likely been thrown out, or worse, so she left and went to start a new life on her own.
Affair with Longbow
Shadewing, as well as many of her friends, have had troubles with Longbow and other law enforcement groups in the past. It all turned out to be one big set-up, but the tensions are still there. After nearly losing use of her wings and right arm, Shade has had to step back and adjust how she deals with people, especially those she has not met.
