Shadow's Beginnings 2004
Most heroes born with magical abilities stem from having a distant relative that came from the city of Mu. Mu was a powerful city with many powerful Sorcerers and Sorceresses. Everyone in the city possessed some type of magical ability and in order to keep the bloodline pure and the magic strong, no one married anyone outside of the city or someone without the ability to channel magic.
Though the city live in peace and harmony for hundreds of years it was completely wiped out by a dark force called “The Circle of Thorns” Through pride the people of Mu thought they could handle the situation and didn’t call on their allies for aid. The city was completely destroyed and those who were captured by the Circle of Thorns were turned into something dark and evil. Rituals were performed so that those who were captured had their souls stolen and soon, the loved ones of Mu were transformed into just shells of their former selves.
The few who escaped went into hiding. The way to keep the bloodline was broken and those who survived tried to start over again and move on with their lives. Most either died alone or remarried and tried to forget the great and powerful city in which they had once lived and loved. However there were a few who tried to maintain the bloodline. One person in particular was Syrian Malachi.
Syrian was one of the lucky few who got away. She was with child at the time the Circle of Thorns attacked the city. Her husband was one of those who were unfortunate enough to be captured and turned. The next few weeks after Syrian’s escape, Syrian searched frantically to find just 3 women who were strong enough in magic to make a circle and perform a ceremony for her unborn child. She knew she would have a daughter because her mother had the gift of foretelling. With a spell that was powerful enough, Syrian wanted to grant her child a blessing that her unborn daughter would carry the strength of the Malachi in magic. That the magical abilities would not fade or diminish as long as her descendants married someone with magical abilities. Each descendant’s first-born would always be a daughter since a daughter would ensure that the bloodline would continue. The child would be marked with red hair and green eyes, a trait that never existed in the Malachi family. That child would also be destined to be the strongest Sorceress in the family of that generation. Using a circle to create a link to channel magic at its strongest point, Syrian started the ritual. She meditated for 2 days prior and called upon her fallen ancestors to help bind this powerful spell to her unborn daughter. The ritual was meticulous and took the better part of the day to finish the ceremony. Once the last ruin was drawn and the final words were complete, Syrian collapsed. She screamed out in pain and agony. The baby would come now. Labor went rather quickly and a tiny little girl was born. Despite the early birth, the tiny little girl had quite a bit of red hair and vivid green eyes looked at her mother for the first time…
One Thousand years later a young girl with red hair and green eyes was born, a feature not uncommon in her family. Her name was Camille Rosen. She knew that she came from a long line of Sorceresses’, her mother was the strongest in her family and Camille looked very much like her mother Susan with her golden red hair and green eyes. The history of Susan’s family is largely vague but one source of knowledge survived the Centuries. For the magic to stay strong you must marry someone with magical abilities. Susan and her husband Eric moved to Paragon City shortly after Camille was born to help the citizens of Paragon City after the Ritiki war. It was a dangerous place to move, especially since the Circle of Thorns cult was strong in Paragon City.
When Camille was 6, her mother was very excited to see the gift her daughter possessed. The amazing ability to heal anything she touched. To have such ability in a city where so much destruction had happened would be a very useful and powerful tool to help rebuild Paragon. Susan worked with her for hours to help develop Camille’s talents, dreaming of the day when Camille would be able to work side by side with Susan and Eric. Apparently Susan wasn’t the only one who thought Camille had a great gift. At the age of 12 Camille was kidnapped by the Circle of Thorns and taken deep into the city of Oranbega. Eric was seriously wounded during the attack in the Rosen home, but Susan was unharmed. Susan called every hero she could think of from the “Midnight Squad” that might be able to take her down into Oranbega to rescue her daughter.
Susan led a squad of Midnighters deep within the city of Oranbega hoping to reach Camille before the Circle could do anything to the young girl. Susan and a few members of the “Midnight Squad” stormed into the middle of a ceremony and found Camille unconscious on an alter. After disrupting the ceremony Camille was carefully carried from the underground city. Camille was soon examined by a doctor and, after finding no visible signs on damage or injury, was sent home. It wasn’t until a few weeks later that Camille discovered what she could do. She could craft dark magic and summon terrible things from the underworld, yet she still had her healing powers of the light. Her Family was terrified! The use of dark magic has never been used in her family and was strictly forbidden! No one knew if she would eventually become something dark and evil. Azura from Atlas Park examined her and told her family that Camille had absorbed some of the Circle’s powers of dark magic during the ritual to take over her body. She strongly suggested letting Camille stay with her for awhile so she could better learn to control her new powers and so she could have the maximum protection from the circle with the “Midnight Squad” close at hand to watch out for her.
10 Years later a new hero is born. A 22 years old female with red hair and green eyes. A fantastic defender as she controls powers of both light and darkness and is known for her amazing healing gifts. Her name… Shadow Rouge
