The Peacebringer character of @Tramontane. As usual, I wanted to take the character in a slightly different direction, so taking my cues from some early RP interactions, she wound up being a wee bit... unbalanced. And is steadily growing more so, which I've decided is a result of the human and Kheldian personalities not meshing properly. She will in all likelihood wind up converting to full-blown Villain, because I'm just contrary like that.

Appearance

Lisa Winchester appears to be a rather ordinary, if fairly attractive, young woman, in her mid-twenties. She's about five foot four, of slim build, with long, dirty-blonde hair and blue eyes, and is usually seen in a sleeveless tees and loose cargo pants, when she isn't in her professional suit. Nox Quasso, the Kheldian who merged with her, has the characteristics of most members of his race- while he has no physical form inherently, he can briefly manifest as a formless mote of light, or form an energy-semblance of a flying, tentacled species or a large, chitin-plated species, both common Kheldian racial forms. When Lisa manifests Kheldian abilities in her native form, she takes on the common radiant quality and glowing eyes of Kheldian hybrids.

Personality

Lisa was always an impulsive and inquisitive girl, even at a young age. She took to journalism like the proverbial duck to water, and found that she was quite adept at seeing where a lead was going to show up, almost instinctively able to find trouble before it happened. These impulses, however, sometimes were a bit too accurate, and led to her demise in the Shivan incident in 1989. One oddly placed temporal rift and an encounter with a kheldian later, she was returned to her former effervescent life... sort of. While still retaining her old personality traits and memories, she began to behave more impulsively, slowly losing the attention span to maintain any sort of career. She was given to becoming oddly uncomfortable with maintaining a single form for too long, and took up the habit of switching back and forth between her human form and the form known colloquially as a "nova" being, which she felt freer in because of its flight and lack of weight. She has also become somewhat violent, taking an unusual glee in her new capacity to fight crime rather than just telling stories about it.

Powers

Kheldian

Lisa and Nox Quasso merged to form a being known as Shardseer, the significance of which Nox Quasso has never explained to Lisa. While the merge between the two personalities was not as whole or peaceful as it was originally, the two nevertheless think of themselves as mostly a single being, and have little difficulty accessing the energy-manipulating abilities inherent to Nox Quasso's kind. She is capable of projecting energy blasts and flying in her native state, and has the ability to take on other forms with which the Kheldian race has developed an affinity, just like any other Peacebringer.

Shard Sight

What Lisa has not yet realized was that she and Nox Quasso were both drawn to Bloody Bay for the same reason. Both are seers, of a sort, intuitively sensitive to and drawn toward places where the dimensions have weakened. It was just such a dimensional rift that sustained Lisa's body until Nox Quasso was able to rescue her. However, this ability seems to have diminished in both of them as they become more anxious about their improper state of being.

Abilities

Photojournalist

Lisa has had training as a photojournalist, and has excellent photographic and compositional skills as well as good narrative form and an affinity for private investigation. She rarely makes much use of these abilities anymore, and since her employers have long since assumed her dead, she has had little cause to renew her use of them.

Self-Defense

As a girl, Lisa was a Ju Jitsu enthusiast, and though she's had little practice of late, her body is still in sufficient shape to defend herself should her Kheldian abilities fail her.

Weaknesses and limitations

Shardseer, like all Kheldians, is incredibly vulnerable to the energy of quantum rifts, and where her body could recover from other more mundane forms of attack through Nox Quasso's influence, Quantum weapons and those who wield them remain an incredible threat to her safety. Also, she lacks the capacity for self-control or composure, unable to force herself to endure things she doesn't feel like doing, and so comes across as petulant if not outright unstable. This behavior has become exaggerated of late.

Character History

Lisa Winchester was born in Paragon City in 1967 and grew up idolizing superheroes. As a teenager, she even took up Ju Jitsu with the hope of becoming adept enough to actually fight against the supervillains of Paragon City alongside the Freedom Phalanx. However, as she matured, she stopped entertaining what she had decided was a juvenile fantasy, and instead put her naturally intuitive and inquisitive talents to work as a reporter and photographer. If she couldn't fight crime, she reasoned, she could at least help chronicle their activity throughout the city, as well as that of the superpowered menaces in the city. She made quite a name for herself in Paragon City in the late eighties, a young, energetic, and talented reporter who seemed almost to know in advance where something newsworthy was going to take place. There were rumors of contacts among the superpowered community, or perhaps of some other dark connections that allowed her to so consistently and efficiently pick up the best stories and snapshots.

All that came to a tragic end, however, in 1989, when, driven by that same instinctive knowledge of major events, she travelled to the island town of Oceanview, and immediately began rolling footage. She was, of course, absolutely right. The camera itself was on a broadcast back to the news headquarters, and so her colleagues were able to watch as Meteor Ek, the first and largest of the Shivan meteors, crashed down apparently right on top of her and let out a wave of eerie green light, before the camera was destroyed. When the reports came in that all those caught in the blast were destroyed, Lisa herself was- correctly- presumed dead.

What they didn't realize, however, was that she had been caught in a rift between dimensions, and so her corpse didn't age more than perhaps ten minutes before, twenty years later, a Kheldian by the name of Nox Quasso came to the site of the crash, seeking out the strange dimensional rift. What he found were the Shivans, who destroyed his previous host. However, he discovered a new host body inside of the rift, and, inhabiting it, was able to revive the remnants of Lisa Winchester. However, whether it was the radiation, the rift, or simply Lisa's time being dead before Nox Quasso came to her, the two did not come to the complete and instinctive merging experienced by most Kheldians, and so, while the two were able to escape using their new powers, they did remain a distinct pair, rather than a specific plural being.

The two have since been attempting to fit into Paragon City's hero society, which Lisa has taken to with a passion, having been granted the ability to obtain her lifelong dream. However, Nox Quasso was considerably less comfortable, both with his current status as only partially merged with his host, and with Lisa's growing imbalances. He becomes agitated whenever she retains human form for too long, and so she alleviates the agitation by switching between human form and some energy form or other in order to grant both a sense of being less confined, though this can be discomforting to those around her. She also seems to be taking more and more delight in violating social norms, particularly invading the personal space of others just to elicit a reaction.

Equipment

The only equipment she ever carries is a notebook and a pen for jotting down notes, and one of the miniature cameras found in many electronics stores, which she finds utterly fascinating.

Notes

Under construction.
