Regina Sharon Helms, or better known as Sharin, has recently come to light as an active agent in the Rogue Isles. Her origins remain a speculation of various law enforcement agencies in Paragon City and even the Rogue Isle Police. However, it has come to light that she may have ties to the Warshade dubbed Abyssal Dawn as the hero's twin. The exact relationship between the two has remained a mystery. But, it is one that Longbow seems to have acknowledged with the hero losing her status as a Warden in Longbow due to charges of not declaring the relationship during her initial applications to the law enforcement unit.

Sharin is part of an ongoing RP and writing project of her player. She and her counterpart in Abyssal Dawn are part of a related storyline I hope to see develop over the course of time. Her page will be updated as the plot develops over time.

Supergroup: The Rogue Knights

It is remains unclear as to her role with the Rogue Knights beyond her activities in low-grade missions as required or needed. Her entry into the group has cast doubts on her motives and loyalties in general.

Individuals

Abyssal Dawn

Abyssal Dawn Audrey Helms-Shadowmoon is a former Longbow Warden that has paid a high price for a price she had thought forgotten or lost to the passage of time. Sharin has come to represent a ghost of her past. Originally, Sharin had been considered dead during the attack on their mother in Paragon City in 2000. However, her recent arrest and discovery has seen the disgrace and discredit of the woman once known as Cypher. Her merger with the former Nictus Valin the Heretic has seen her powers restored somewhat after being hit and injured by a Longbow Nullifier weapon before her discharge in early 2008.

At present, the two have not have had a direct confrontation. Sharin has been said to be indifferent to the Warshade and has yet to pursue any dealings with her twin.

Longbow Meta-Human Affairs: Case File 87-3210-S

All stories and legends usually find root in some form of fact or actual event. In the case of the meta-human known as “Sharin,” things are no different. However, in some cases, the truth can often be lost or obscured due to many reasons. In this case, her own origins come not from the actual person at all. From records, “Sharin” has lost any memories of her time before entry into the ranks of the Wellspring Cadre. The following files and information have been obtained via Hero Corps and various enforcement agencies while investigating her background after her recent arrest.

In late January, 2008, she had been confined at the Zig after being prepared for evaluations for trial. During interviews with her, the legal offices of Paragon City had begun to compile a general picture of her fragmented past. Vague references to odd names and projects within the local area and Rogue Isles had led to investigations by different super-powered groups. From broken recollections of times she seemed to have no solid recall, the investigators were able to compile the following profile information.

Dust of the Past – Pinnacle Candidate File

At first, all we knew of her was simply a single name.. “Sharin.” This was all she seemed willing or able to give the interviewing officers that had processed her. From our reports, she had been taken into custody during an infiltration attempt at one of the alleged bases employed by a super-group in Paragon City. In this case, the paperwork had mentioned the base, or contact, was affiliated with one of the more respected units known as the Paragonian Knights. Following standard procedure, she was remanded to custody for further investigation on the city's part. While the suspect had been given to custody, it did not mean that the Knights had let the situation pass either.

Our mystery guest in the Zig has proven to be an odd puzzle to sort out. “Sharin” can be easily described as someone appearing in her late teens. One of the officers had joked during an interview that she would have had trouble in any bar or nightclub—even with identification. Initial attempts to place an age were frustrated with cryptic references to her past. These fragments seemed to be limited simply to names and hazy descriptions of what may have been a super-group base. It was not uncommon for well-funded groups to house their own labs and living facilities.

The clues that were left to begin with in attempting to piece the puzzle together were simply words such as “Pinnacle” and “Wellspring.” Context clues from her answers seemed to hint that these words were more than metaphors to the past in some fashion. Going on these hints, research was aimed at attempting to associate the groups with possible registered super-groups in the area. At first, it was considered a lost cause with the different units that assemble and sometimes disband within a short life-span after serving their common goal—or professional differences.

However, the source of the mystery would come to hit painfully home in our city itself. Pinnacle would come to refer to a enigmatic super-group known as the Pinnacle Society that had once been based out of Paragon several years ago. At one time, the group had served as an elitist band of mutants that had appeared on the seen to combat crime. Their acceptance, however, was short-lived when their views began to emerge. Led by the mutant supremacist known as “Sterling,” the group had begun to publically embrace the idea of mutation occupying the next stage of human development. This had become a popular theme at the time as different meta-humans sought to make their mark in the world—just as much as you see today.

The Society had been gathering information on various potential mutants within the city over several years seeking to build its “future” society. Its files had been obtained March 2, 2005, during a raid on their offices in Paragon by Longbow after confirmed activities on their part on the Rogue Isles when “Sterling” lost his hero registration in the city for elicit activities. The investigation opened the case file revealing a host of different young people that were reported missing in the past.

July 4, 1987... the files placed the beginning of the path of the young woman we have come to link to “Sharin.” Her official name was listed as Regina Sharon Helms. In her files, she was the daughter of a meta-human by the name of Silver Storm and a human executive by the name of Rebecca Kingston. Born in Aeon City in the Rogue Isles, her family had been established in the local politics that had long since grown corrupt under the influence of the Web of the organization known as Arachnos. Their jobs or roles in the local Isle society were vaguely referenced in the appraisal report that was located in the files. However, when Regina had turned ten, Silver Storm seemed to have a falling out with the ruling powers. Through reports on Silver Storm's registration in Paragon City, the family was reported to have moved to the area in 1997. From the reports, Silver Storm had signed on with Hero Corps in order to begin working as a security consultant for a firm in the city. Little more could be confirmed on her actual family in our investigations at the time. The last official event that could be reconciled to documents in city records was a private funeral held for Ms. Kingston in Galaxy City in October of 2000. Newspaper archives showed only the event had taken place and held no information on survivors. The meta-human known as Silver Storm seemed to disappear about this time.

Regina's actual records with Pinnacle were dated to have begun at the same time. It is suspected that she had been “recruited” via Sterling's plans to consolidate his numbers. During her time with Pinnacle, the first attempts to test and classify her mutant potential were attempted. She was listed at the age of thirteen to show a strong latency for developing meta-abilities. Her initial education was focused in areas of general studies and a loose subject matter often used in students in accelerated programs. Strong interest was listed in her development and training files until she turned sixteen. The report went on to detail that she had shown minor abilities in what was dubbed as a “technomage” by the Pinnacle team.

Researchers have stated the ability allows the mutant or meta-human to interface with technology with an aptitude above what natural adepts were known to show in regular forums. Rumors have even claimed that those with higher-end levels of the power are known to be able to recreate or “manifest” past devices they have been able to study. In her case, it was suspected that the Pinnacle researchers had not invested more than cursory investigations into her abilities. Records had come to list her as a lower-class mutant than Sterling had hope to place her within the organization's structure. She was focused on computer technology and research, but the interest in the “Beta-caste” mutant seemed to be cursory at best. No further tests were listed other than medical files that her mutation may have stunted her physical growth as her form seemed to cease aging.

The Pinnacle Society was later dismantled by Longbow in 2005. It is unknown if “Sharin” had been part of the organization about this time due to incomplete files recovered from the arresting teams. Attempts had been made to trace Sterling's activities in the Rogue Isles. However, the fallen mutant leader had been careful in covering his tracks making the matter quite difficult.

Spring of Power – The Wellspring Initiative

The earliest memory that “Sharin” has shown to recall with some clarity has been estimated to date roughly in late 2004. A group known as the Wellspring Initiative had began to draw attention of Longbow agents that had been stationed in the Rogue Isles. Charged with remaining alert for potential plots on the part of the darker elements, their informants had released reports of a rising leader with an eye for power. Known only as Wellspring, the newcomer had been suspected to have been settled in the Isles for sometime. Under his direction, a group known as the Wellspring Initiative had begun to take shape. Little is known of his past, but it is suspected that he may have been involved with an organized military group at one time due to the agenda was uncovered.

“Sharin” had been one of several latent mutants that had been recruited into the group. It remains unclear as to how or why she was acquired, but she has come to fit the profile of the Initiative's tactics. From our interview material and the Longbow logistics, Wellspring had been set on the creation of a personal military force. Through the use of genetic engineering and modification, his researchers had sought to unlock the potential in mutants or latent humans. The group's propaganda seemed to be along the lines that they could free what nature had denied to those entitled to the power locked within their genes. Many mutants similar to “Sharin” seemed to emerge far more powerful than when they were recruited.

Over the next few years, she had been trained in the group's facilities off the coast of Sharkhead Island. Her focus was geared towards infiltration and information gathering as her powers were identified. Her abilities as a “technomage” had been unlocked on a degree allowing her to create replicas of past technological items she had encountered. These replicas were shown to last only for short durations. But, the power would come to serve in allowing her to access computers and data sources without the need to carry equipment that could be detected. Within certain limitations, she had began to herself as an adept in her assigned field.

Unlike her time with Pinnacle, her mutations were further researched. Through the Initiative's tests, her physical aging had ceased several years before she had arrived. Where Sterling's group had written her change off as a weakness, her new instructors had discovered an innate immunity to natural entropy—the effects that wore a physical object or form down over time. Physically, she has shown herself to be no older than sixteen to seventeen years old. Estimates has placed her actual age at roughly twenty-one. This ability was not born of a natural resistance, but the ability of her body to turn away and bend certain energy forms from her. Kinetic, entropic, and elemental forces were repelled through the shifting fields. A part of her “training” with the Initiative seemed to include a focus on mental fortitude and 'disciplining.' Scans on the suspect have yielded considerable modifications on the part of a psionic intrusion. The mental thought patterns and instinctive reactions of each of Wellspring's specialists had been crafted with a single focus—loyalty to the cadre and their leader. Interviews have shown an effect on the 'human' aspect of the different agents that have been found to have had ties or training through the group.

Investigations into the activities on the part of Wellspring and his crew remain vague. The Rogue Island Police (R. I. P.) have continued to challenge attempts by Longbow in the area over jurisdiction on the case. Despite it's criminal status, the Initiative had been sought for attempting to challenge Arachnos control over the local area in Sharkhead. Conflicts with Captain Mako would serve as the group's undoing over rumored support of the local hero known as Scrapyarder. “Sharin” offered a general insight of their activities at the time. It seemed her own involvement was limited to intelligence gathering on various firms that were based out of the Isles. Attempts to gain information into the exact extent of their organizations have proven unproductive with her refusal to answer questions due to her current loyalties it seems.

Disrupted Programs – Collapse of Wellspring

The Wellspring Initiative was announced officially to have been terminated by allies of Arachnos in the early part of 2007 through a various sequence of raids on their holdings. The operation seems to have been conducted in the Rogue Isles with information having been released via the Web to local super-groups. It was during one of these raids that “Sharin” came into her current employment with the group dubbed as the “Rogue Knights” led by Lord Grae.

We have been unable to obtain an actual motive for the raid. But, her actual encounter was at a listening post centered on Mercy Island. The new arrival of the ones dubbed for “Project Destiny” had drawn the interest of the Initiative. The Knight leading the strike team had been looking to extract the gathered data on the computers of the team that had been under her command in the area. “Sharin” had been captured in the course of the raid in order to unlock the encryptions that she had created for the data systems. During attempts to coerce cooperation via psi-scans, the conditioning that had been instilled by the Initiative was discovered as a common feature of the soldiers under Wellspring's command. The interrogator involved was able to modify the mental focus to cause the former intelligence agent to consider the leadership of the Rogue Knights as her new commander. Utilizing the change, she was used to unlock the files for them.

The changes that were wrought in her mental network seems to have been secured in a better process than had originally be instilled by the Initiative. “Sharin” surrendered much of her information on Wellspring's operations without questioning the reason behind the matter. Since her original “defection” from her former employers, she has worked with the Knights in a low-level role in Mercy Island. Given the questionable nature of her loyalties, she had been watched for sometime for potential changes of heart—per say.

“Sharin” seems to have ended up in Paragon City custody during activities in a bank heist in King's Row. She had been paired with a local heavy weight by the name of Corlieus. The hit on the bank had served as a cover to allow her to attempt to infiltrate a local front for one of the super-groups in the area. We have not been able to link the old building to the super-group in question, but her attempt was foiled by the efforts of Detective Stan Walker. Both of the mutants had been turned over to the Zig after their attempt was foiled.

A Touch of Destiny? – Return to the Isles

The call was forwarded to my office a few hours ago. Arachnos has just conducted another one of their raids on the Zig in their agenda. Different prisoners were often targeted in the operations and brought back to be tested on one of the Islands to see if they fit the profile. What profile was still unknown to us. At the moment, I have come to suspect that it may be related to the listening post the Initiative had her assigned to last year. I really do not know. But, it seems that she was either a side product of the raid... or one of those targeted to be retrieved. Either way, the case has been suspended due to the fact there is no longer a suspect to investigate or prosecute in this matter.

Longbow reports have given indications that she has once more become active in the web of the Rogue Isles. At a guess, it is a form of 'second' chance for her to recover some standing from her initial capture in King's Row earlier this year. Her past involvements between the Web and the Rogue Knights were considered null. Like any new arrival, she has had to carve her way back out of the ranks of the chaff on Mercy Island and make her way in the world once more. The fact she has managed to move the other islands has shown that chance was taken.

Listening to the reports from time to time, it seems she is like others chosen due to a touch or mark of destiny. The seers under the command of Recluse have named many different subjects that hold this mark
