The youngest generation of the Chen Family, a family tasked with protecting several ancient, and lesser known artifacts from the fabled Jade Empire. Son Lei channels the spirit of the Monkey King himself, possessing a portion of his power for herself and using it to battle against the forces that would bring harm to herself, her family, and her home.

Day of the Monkey

The day Son Lei gained the power of the Monkey King, was the very day that the gang known as the Tsoo learned of the Monkey Scroll, the artifact that could enable someone to summon the Monkey King himself and gain his power. Deciding they wanted the scroll for themselves so they could create a knew, powerful champion of their own design, they stormed the warehouse the Chen Family called home (yes, they lived in a warehouse). With only Son Lei and her grandfather, Won, being all there was to guard the artifacts that they'd held within the warehouse. Knowing that the two of them would not be able to stop the Tsoo on their own, Won ordered his granddaughter to fetch the very scroll the Tsoo were after, and use it to give herself the Monkey Kings power.

Though reluctant to leave her grandfather alone to fight the Tsoo himself, Son Lei obeyed and ran to get to the scroll first. Locking herself in the warehouses sublevel. Alone, and away from the Tsoo, Son Lei began the ritual the scroll called for, and summoned the Monkey King himself, Sun Wukong. Upon his appearance, Son Lei pleaded her case to him on what was transpiring. After hearing her out, Sun Wukong refused to grant her his power, stating to the girl that she already had the strength to fight the Tsoo. Aghast at the Monkey Kings declaration, the young girl began to protest, only to be cut off by the sage once again, repeating what he said to her and saying that she needed to go to her grandfather before it was too late.

With the Monkey Kings words ringing in her head, Son Lei steeled herself and dismissed the fact that she failed to gain the power she was seeking. Making her way back to the battle between the Tsoo and Won, a battle of which the Tsoo were quickly gaining the upper hand on until Son Lei jumped into the fray (quite literally, she jump kicked the closest enforcer to her in the face when she arrived) and started to help her grandfather fight off the Tsoo warriors. When the melee was over, the leader of the group stepped forward. A much stronger fighter than the others, he was able to easily subdue Won, and after a brief scuffle, Son Lei as well. Seeking to end their lives so he could more easily search for the scrolls he sought. Taking up one of the swords from his fallen warriors, the Tsoo leader moved in first to end Son Lei. It was then at that point, the Monkey King appeared before her again. Impressed with the strength, skill, and valor that the young girl showed, he decided then to grant the girl some of his power as she'd asked.

With the Monkey Kings power now coursing through her. Son Lei underwent a rapid transformation that make her more monkey like in appearance, and granted her a small portion of Sun Wukongs strength, agility, skill, and knowledge. Now an avatar to the Monkey King, Son Lei was able to easily over power and defeat the Tsoo leader and drive his horde off. Now as Son Lei Kong!

Personality

Son Lei Kong has a very bubbly, upbeat personality to her. Almost always smiling, or at the very least having some kind of goofy expression on her face for one reason or another. Despite this pleasant, and sometimes naive seeming demeanor, she also has a very philosophical bent on many things and is very insightful in allot of different situations, almost to the point of being uncanny. Anything she doesn't have insight to, or even have the slightest bit of knowledge on though, she can be very inquisitive about, almost to the point where it could get annoying to some people.
