Starknights are powered by a device that remains in perpetual close orbit around their home star. The device maintains a subspace link with its Starknight that allows them to transform and utilize the cosmic energy that the device produces. While transformed, Starknights' mortal bodies are put into a sort of stasis that maintains as long as the Starknight form itself endures.

The Starknight transformation encases them in a hardened shell of incredibly durable, regenerative material transmuted from their cosmic energy stores. Damage is repaired by tapping into those same energy stores.

Starknights are able to project and manipulate the cosmic energy that powers them. And while each Starknight tends to develop their own style over time, the most common uses of this energy are: energy blades, blasts, shields, flight, and faster-than-light travel through the generation of warp bubbles.
