Super-Jerk
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
Jerome Henry(Hank) Mancini is the mutant super-villain known by the name, Super-Jerk.
Even with the greatest of superhuman abilities… A being can fall short of his ideals and his potential. A poor work-habit, a negative attitude and a nasty disposition have sent this “would-be hero” into a downward spiral of villainy, despair and failure.
Turned to a life of crime to support his bad habits and his greed, Super-Jerk has spent more time in jail than he has considering his own future and the greater possibilities that could have been.

Background
Conception
Jerome Henry Mancini was born to the single mother, Malorie Mancini.
Malorie took part in an experimental program that she had read about in the papers. The program involved artificial insemination with anonymously donated mutant sperm and was offering a wealth of money to its participants. The entire program came to an abrupt (and shady) end during her pregnancy and she was left on her own again, without any of the promised payment and now with a possible-mutant-child growing inside of her.
The extreme physical demands of carrying such a child took a great toll on her body, and she struggled hard throughout the pregnancy. Barely surviving the delivery and taking a long time to recover afterward, she felt fortunate to acquire a strong and well-employed husband soon afterward.
She met John Menks, a widower dock worker, at the hospital she was recovering in and they married within months.
It was within a year that Malorie Mancini was killed in a hit and run accident.
Childhood
Growing up in the Bronx, under the sole care of an abusive and alcoholic stepfather, Jerome was never told of his special origin. He was a bully in his school and on the streets among the local children. It was not until he was nearly 15 years old and overheard the whispers of his teachers, as they talked with the local authorities about another classmate that was seriously injured by Jerome’s bullying tactics, that he learned of his possible mutant genes.
With this overheard information, Jerome felt empowered. Armed with the knowledge that he was truly stronger and more powerful than normal humans, he looked forward to greeting his stepfather when he returned home from work (and the local bar).
His stepfather was brought to the hospital late that night for a long stay to recover from critical injuries.
Independence
Jerome quickly left school and went from job to job, living on his own. He dabbled in small crimes and found that the quick money was great for impressing people. He impressed, and strong armed, his former high school classmate, Colleen Dipetro, enough to be his wife.
With Colleen's influence, Jerome decided to turn away from the small crimes of his youth and become a vigilante for the people.
Lack Of Responsibility
Not long afterward, Jerome continuously shrugged off all responsibilities in favor of hanging out at the bar with the guys and he began accepting bribes, taking part in racketeering, extortion and other unsavory street thug tactics.
Divorce
He fought often with his wife, mostly about him not following through on his potential to become a superhero or something respectable, which resulted in him beating her regularly. She eventually filed for divorce and moved out. Jerome put off signing the divorce papers for a long time, always saying that "she'll come around". Then, finally sick of her hunting him down and nagging him about signing the divorce papers, He showed up at her apartment and beat her into critical condition. He dropped the signed divorce papers on her unconscious body and, thus, was subsequently arrested and brought into custody by a registered superhero and law enforcement.
A Jerk by any other name...
It was the above atrocious behavior, his arrest and the media attention that led to his new name, Super-Jerk.
While Jerome was in jail and being processed within the system, the media frenzy swirled around his, now, ex-wife Colleen. The day she left the hospital from recovering from the injuries Jerome had caused her in the attack, still with black eyes beneath her sunglasses, she uttered these words that the media ran with:
"He said he was gonna be a Super-Hero or somethin'. Instead he became a Super-Jerk."
An extremely popular editorial was then written about Jerome Mancini's failures, simply titled, "The Super-Jerk". The name stuck around as the media coverage continued. And Jerome was quoted as saying that he welcomes the name. After breaking out of prison, he attacked his ex-wife again, destroyed her apartment building and spray painted a simple message on the pavement near the front door of the building...
"Super-Jerk wuz here"
He now carries the name Super-Jerk with a sick sense of pride.
More to come...
