Introduction
Serenity Modano has been through quite a bit in her first quarter-century, especially since she's said she's had three nineteenth birthdays. She's been a thug, a spy, a leader, a businesswoman, a mercenary, and even done a few magical rituals, none of which have turned out in any sort of good way. She's now trying to turn Nerva into the Reno to St. Martial's Vegas, and have herself be one of the major players.
The Story So Far
The Rhode Island Foster Care System: Up to Age 15
Serenity Modano was born as just Serenity, the name she kept for the longest time. She was put into Foster Care at the age of 2, her mother being an unknown superhero who left her with the government before a very difficult mission. She grew up without a stable home, going from one place to the next. The only consistencies from Serenity's side was her rather tomboy attitude and her love for hockey. Although the government knew she might be a mutant, her powers didn't appear until she was 13. She nearly killed a rink full of hockey-playing teenagers due to an angry reaction from what she believed was a dirty hit from one of the other players. The game had to be stopped due to every person on ice suffering from mild electrical shocks.
From then on, Serenity was watched by Longbow for the next two years, to see if she would make a good possible undercover agent of the future. At the age of 15, she was brought into Paragon City. She was told to choose a last name, for all of the paperwork. She decided on Modano, after the hockey player of the same name.
Paragon City: Ages 15-18
Although most of this time was spent going to high school, there were a few memorable moments involving helping the authorities with undercover operations. This is where she made her first connections with the criminal underworld in Paragon, although this was mostly low-grade drug rings. She also worked with a few people who were less-than-scrupulous, some of whom came to work for her later on after she moved to the Rogue Isles.
Longbow Training: Ages 18-19
Serenity trained with Longbow for about a year after graduating from high school. Most of her training was to prepare for an undercover operation into the Rogue Isles. She learned most of the things she'd need to know to run a criminal operation, along with many opportunities to practice while still in Paragon City. The training stopped only to allow Serenity to have a new identity, one that would allow her to seem more natural in her transition for Operation Winged Bird.
Paragon City Part Two (CAPES): Ages 19-21
Serenity enrolled for college, quickly becoming a member of a college superhero group called CAPES, the Campus Alliance of Preternatural and Exemplary Students. Choosing the superhero name Sureshock Serenity, she used her powers to stop crime while getting an education. She made a few friends, but quickly found her way out of the group due to her moonlighting as a mercenary. While she kept on the right side of the law, sticking with mostly bodyguard work, she did take a few questionable jobs that did pay more. Serenity ended up with an Associate's Degree in Business, but had to go back to working for Longbow, as they paid for her schooling to that point. She was transfered to the Spec Ops division of Longbow, and was allowed to leave Paragon to try and infiltrate the Rogue Isles.
Longbow Special Ops, Operation Winged Bird: Ages 21-23
Operation Winged Bird was supposed to be an attempt for a member of Longbow to get into a position of being able to get information on most of the major criminal activity in the Isles. The files on it are currently missing, mainly because it was a complete failure. Half of the agents sent were killed in the first year. Longbow believed there was someone leaking information to Arachnos. Serenity, by far the most comfortable with bending a few of the guidelines of the Spec Ops, was the primary suspect. Without so much as an investigation, several of the other Winged Bird agents decided to show Serenity how they felt. Despite the agents not being powered individuals, they brought Serenity down, giving her quite a beating. Serenity's attempts to clear her name were met over and over again with piles of paperwork and general stonewalling. After nine months of this, she decided to walk out on the operation, finding her own way in the Isles.
Project Ravenous: Ages 23-24
Ravenous was a group led by Alison Kaufman, another ex-hero. The group was a crime syndicate, focusing on weapon smuggling. Through this group, Serenity met many people she calls friends now. The activities of Ravenous made Serenity a lot of money, although she doesn't talk much about the specifics. By the end of her work with Ravenous, she had reached the peak of her powers.
